It must have to do with the way you handle mice because I thought it was pretty comfortable. Oh well, to each his own.

agreed, I stopped by my local Best Buy yesterday to check out the new iMacs, and for the 10-15min I used the new Magic Mouse, I can't say I ever thought it was anything less than comfortable to use (once I got the hang of how to rest my hand on it)... on the other hand, I was not impressed by the fact that even the slightest pressure on the front of the mouse causes it to click, especially since probably 90% of the times that it clicked, I didn't want it to- I guess it could be because I'm used to the ultra-smooth surface of my MacBook's glass trackpad and just needed to adjust to the more "plasticky" feel of the MM, but I digress.

overall, it's still a great little mouse, i just wish it was more affordable! (I'm thinking I'll wait until I can afford to buy one of the top-specced 27" iMacs, that way I don't have to pay "extra" for the Magic Mouse)

Exactly my thought; tried it out, couldn't stand the sharp edges. So uncomfortable. Tracking was slow, even at max. Not something I could use regularly, but YMMV. So many people purchasing sight unseen, so there will either be a lot of complaints, or a lot of cognitive dissonance kicking in.

I didn't notice sharp edges and had to turn down the response on the 27" iMac I tried it on at an Apple store.

Dunno about how good it is, but £55???

No way Pedro.

I bought a Logitech USB wireless mouse for like £58 and it is really really bad you can only scroll up and down, tracking is ridiculous, and you have to have that lame USB receiver, so I think £55 isn't much for a wireless mouse, AND it has multi touch!

I completely agree. Sounds amazing in theory but when I tried it in person, it was pretty bad.

When I tried Magic Mouse it was pretty awesome ;) It depends on a person using it. Do you believe there is an ideal mouse for everyone?

P.S I Have Mighty Mouse which is also amazing.

I got mine with my new iMac and I love it ..... I think it takes time to get used to, but its definitely something that I like.

I'm hoping the Manchester Arndale store have some by Saturday, I am off up there.

(Off to Meadowhell tomorrow too but the Apple Store there is closed till the 30th :( )

Shipped today with Overnight Free of Charge! (for the shipping) :D

yeah because you live in Cupertino! Steve's family / semi-friends and all the other apple employees not privy to be on the elite "free gift list" had to order from the online store like everyone else.. and the bosses don't want to hear moaning and groaning anymore since they have heard it for over a week now... so they decided to rush a batch from the factory to cupertino before everyone gets into the office tomorrow. They just threw yours on the truck/plane as an added bonus since there was already a shipment headed to where you were.

Just my wild goose ramblings. But yeah.. enjoy that mouse, mine still hasn't shipped :(

How will this affect the battery life in the new 13" MBP (june 2009)? Im new to MAC and im wondering if it will severely drain the battery from the 13" MBP as it uses bluetooth.

I always turn off bluetooth to save power to make my MBP battery last longer. If say i normally get 5 hours time surfing/typing/playing games on the 13"MBP while the bluetooth is turned off, how much time will i get now if i start using the new Magic mouse with bluetooth? Will the time decrease to 4hours? 4.5 hours? etc?

Thanks

Try using ANY apple mouse with Maya (or other 3d apps) and you'll instantly hate it. you gotta have all three buttons to make it efficient IMO. Middle button = pan, Left = rotate/orbit camera, and right=zoom. The Mighty Mouse was instantly nicknamed the Mighty Turd in the agency I worked at.:p
Did it get named before or after you found out that scrollball can be used as 3rd button? Or you never found that out?

Actually, I called them asking why it didn't ship yesterday. They told me that it should have shipped yesterday, so they upgraded me to Overnight for free. It's coming from Ontario, which should probably take two days to arrive on standard shipping. The best part is... that they put me on FedEx Overnight Priority, so it will arrive in the morning. :D

I haven't had a truly enjoyable Apple mouse since the one I got with my PowerMac 6100 way back in the day. That a company can come up with the iMac, iPod and iPhone but can't design a decent mouse just defies explanation. And that Apple's mice are inferior to those from Logitech and *shudder* Microsoft ...well, that's just plain embarrassing.

I'm holding out hope that the Magic Mouse is great (I haven't tried it yet), but based on my experience with Apple mice over the past 10 years (starting with the abominable "puck"), I'm not getting my hopes up.

I ordered one as soon as it was available on line. But the status is still prepare for shipment. I am not even sure if I can get it before the weekend...

I´m going to buy it the moment it gets in the apple store here.
whatever it is, it can´t be worst than the mighty mouse which I hate and I can´t see the moment to throw it away

Yay... mine shipped too today

does anyone know how this will affect the battery life if the new 13" MBP as it uses bluetooth?

This new mouse is gonna be a fraud.

You will see, is gonna be just as the hockey puck colored mouse that came with the first iMacs.. Apple worst product ever.

Lesson forgoted.
