I bought the first gen 2012 MacBook Pro, and it still does awesome. It's just no longer supported as a fixable product and my app development and GPU development could use a nice speed boost by more capable CPU/GPU.
So is this a staggered new generation starting by the larger size as customary? I.e., any chance later down the line a 14” will replace the 13”?
Looks like it's going to be a great machine. But my 15" 2019 i9 MBP is a great machine as well, and I enjoy it every day. I'll be jealous of the new keyboard though, if it turns out to be an improvement, but overall I am happy with my current MBP. I'm super happy for all you guys that have been waiting so long to upgrade your anchient MBPs! Can't wait to hear the reviews.

to be honest the 2019 MacBook Pro has a great keyboard and not had any issues with it, just when apple fixed the keyboard they change it, wonder what's different

I wish Apple wouldn’t use screen size as a high end feature, they have been doing it for years. I don’t really need the power of the $2,300 MacBook Pro but I would like the bigger screen.
More ports, upgradeable RAM and SSD. Is that so much to ask?
Woah! This is great news. I was ready to be disappointed by the price but this is giving me hope.
They'll never bring back MagSafe. It's USB-C from here on out. However, Griffin makes the next best thing and (almost) brings back the original MagSafe. I have one of these and use it as my main charger:

Sadly this is limited to 60 watts. Griffin showed off a 100W USB-C BreakSafe model at 2017 CES, but I can't find any evidence that they ever launched the product.

I’m gonna be the cynical one of the group that says I don’t believe its gonna be the same price or even “about the same”. im betting on at least a $200 price bump and that although the screen is technically bigger, it’s barely even noticeable and everything else will feel just about the same. So all this hype over...a marginally bigger screen. I’m also waiting to hear the reports of the new keyboards failing

Not to mention the product receives pretty mediocre reviews. I have no problem with 3rd-party companies filling holes that OEM's miss, and I too would love a valid Magsafe replacement if it's not to return officially. But I don't get the sense the Griffin product quite cuts it, not if Amazon is to be believed.
Though the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen of the butterfly keyboard still sucks. Maybe the first gen "new scissor" keyboard will be better than the last gen butterfly. At this point no generation is safe.

It would be nice though if this machine took a clue from the Mac Pro and was actually modular to the extent a laptop can be. No one would complain about it being slightly larger and heavier in order to be upgradeable. Absolutely no one.
It seems like a large percentage of people are fed up with ever increasing pricing. Apple recently adjusted laptop pricing at different storage levels and I’ll bet they saw a sales uptick despite the keyboard saga. I would have been surprised with yet another bump in the premium tier.
At this point MRs should just make its new site structure....
