Cost the same as the current 15”? I believe it when I see it! The entire business model of Cook has been to add features in order to raise the average selling price.

I have to agree with you. Storage of the 15-inch model begins at 256 GB since 2012, when Apple released the 15-inch retina MacBook Pro. It is over 7 years now that the storage is the same.

16.4 inches? I do not now where this additional 0.4 inch comes from. There have been some 16.4-inch 16:9 laptops, but the display ratio is different from the one used by Apple (16:10).

I suppose the 13-inch model will be replaced by a 14-inch one. If Apple goes this trend of reducing bezels, then the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be the next in line. And Apple is probably going to do it, as most competitors are already doing it.
3072x1920 at 220DPI at 16:10 which equates to a 16.4” screen. Apple is getting the panel custom made, so they get what they want. Hopefully, the panel is what we want.

Do you know what inflation is? Macbook prices have dropped slightly over the last 6 years...controlling for inflation.

This thread in a nutshell:

Horray! And Boo! It is too expensive, because it will cost the same as the old one...and the same amount as every direct competitor! Which means Apple charges too much by charging the same amount!

I hate you for everything + take my money already!

I really hope Apple can launch a Kindle-like E-Ink reader, something like a Kindle Oasis but in the Apple Ecosystem

LOLWUT?? December has always been fall. December is not winter. Who even wrote your book??

It was Zero degrees this morning. That is 100% pure unfiltered winter! (And I work for a living, so I can say I tasted it, and it was cold!)

I doubt it, but we'll see.

It is very unlike modern Apple to pass up the opportunity to gouge everyone for a few months with only a high-tier model.

I figure they will wait several months before introducing a lower spec model to replace the 15".

The keyboards are too unreliable and the cost to repair it is astronomical.

I know it's been almost 4 years since we seen magsafe but what was so wrong with magsafe that apple wanted to dump it? Why is apple so dead set on only just using usb-c? Was it because of "thinness over function" mantra?

If this report is true, I'm buying this new Macbook Pro. Primarily because keyboard, plus 16-inch screen, plus price.

Yeah I'll wait on this one. Had I waited on my current one, I could have avoided a lot of kernel panic issues.

I plan to give it a couple of months for any showstoppers to emerge. I think it's generally about as safe to buy after that even for a new model as it is for following iterations.

Most of the changes sound very iterational as is. It feels like it's all about the KB. Fingers crossed super tight. Just give us an extra (and durable) extra MM of key travel with more responsive, quieter action and I'm down.

If the input problems are solved, forget waiting for a whole new Intel gen or Apple A-series experiment (which won't start at the top of the line when it arrives anyway). As for Micro-LED/OLED/current screen options, interested, sure, however, the current screen will do me for a year or three. Just as some more port options would be muy desirable, but not a deal-breaker if I can type well and with abandon on the dang thing.

1. Keyboard [un]reliability
2. Non-upgradable or serviceable (I’m looking at my 5th upgrade and/or battery replacement for my current machine)
3. Dongle life.
4. MagSafe removal (saved my machine a couple of times).
5. Micro storage or massive pricing.
6. GPU (or lack of) on a “pro” machine.

All that for premium pricing. And still I hold out hoping for something that doesn’t require a switch to Windows.

might sit this one out. just got a 2019 15" base model and am very happy. extremely happy with this machine. Works simply beautiful.

This new 16 might have issues since it's first gen who knows?

The same amount as every direct competitor? Really?
