That was a head scratcher, for sure.I mean everything fits there except "gaming".
I bought the first gen 2012 MacBook Pro, and it still does awesome. It's just no longer supported as a fixable product and my app development and GPU development could use a nice speed boost by more capable CPU/GPU.
you aren't.. i've held up purchasing due to primarily the touch bar and not liking it, also the fact the machines never seemed to have the latest chip technology, followed by lack of ports... I've been waiting patiently, but that new XPS 15 is looking fairly tempting.Yeah, I’m truly fed up with it and I voted with my wallet and didn’t replace my machine when I otherwise wanted to. I can’t be the only one.
that would be something.. maybe some of the professionals that have ventured into windows-machine-land would come back..Can we get a high-end GPU, 32G, 2TB for $3200 or $3400? Though assuming this machine is a significant improvement over the current machines GPU-wise I might just go all in for the 4TB.
I probably would. Some would say stay away from first gen anything but I’m a gambler lol.So... If I still have a chance to return my recently purchased base 15”, then I probably should in exchange for this one, huh?
Hope no 2015 keyboards and no MagSafe. It was terrible.I'm in. Replacing my 2012 MB Pro. Hoping they bring back MagSafe along with the retro keyboard.
I probably would. Some would say stay away from first gen anything but I’m a gambler lol.
100% agree. I never understood why the macbook pros haven't been given this bump considering it's so nominal difference in priceEntry level storage should be at least 512GB. It should have been at least 512GB for awhile now.
No, same CPUs as 15”. Intel hasn’t released any 45W Comet Lake chips. Maybe in the new generation MBP, somewhere around July-Oct next year.
when the retina screen first came out, I ordered a fully spec'd custom build within seconds of the website opening up.. i ended up having to return that custom build 4 times before getting a machine that worked perfect.. I also got an ipad, mophie battery, extra ac adapter, and a couple other things for the trouble thanks to a very nice apple engineer and customer service manager...I probably would. Some would say stay away from first gen anything but I’m a gambler lol.
You must be new to the internet 😁Yes, apparently.
It would be nice though if this machine took a clue from the Mac Pro and was actually modular to the extent a laptop can be. No one would complain about it being slightly larger and heavier in order to be upgradeable. Absolutely no one.
I believe they call this damage control. I bet Apple has been working on this updated model for quite some time and it's finally at the point where it's ready. Takes care of the complaints about the keyboard, and the high-end pros desire for a larger screen. Now the big test will be whether they add back the SD card slot & HDMI port. I'm not holding my breath but it would a revelation if it happened.I did not expect Apple to update the 15" model in May and then replace it 6 months later.
Although that sounds like an obvious move, they also need to answer to other makers by releasing this, so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do it.I doubt it, but we'll see.
It is very unlike modern Apple to pass up the opportunity to gouge everyone for a few months with only a high-tier model.
I figure they will wait several months before introducing a lower spec model to replace the 15".
I say return it now so you don't lose the return window! If there's any chance you'll want the new model (and I would). —Unsolicited advice, for what it's worth!Tomorrow is my last day to return it.
I’ll wait for impressions and take it from there.
Considering all the people waiting and eager to buy this MacBook Pro, I’ll probably be left without a computer for a while.
Well, the 15” MacBook Pro’s CPU is connected directly to the 555X/560x/Vega 16/20 GPU via x8 lanes of PCIe 3 bandwidth, so it doesn’t get any better than that.I think they mean discrete and not a shared bus with the CPU combo.
