I say return it now so you don't lose the return window! If there's any chance you'll want the new model (and I would). —Unsolicited advice, for what it's worth!

But I’m already in my pajamas... 🤣

It looks like I actually have until Thursday to return it.

I’m sure they’ll run out by then, but at least it gives me time to back up everything and restore my MacBook to factory settings without rushing.

If this is true then in part I'm happy to hear that this might be a replacement for the 15" because that suggests that the prices may be like the 15" and not above. But at the same time this would mean it would follow the same thin design craziness as the 15". I want it thicker with better cooling and overall cheaper to make and easier to repair.
Well there is always hope now that jonny ive is out that we get actually good design.

Bugger. Just ordered the 15” i9 2 days ago from the refurb store in Australia. Hope the 16” is out in the next 14 days so I can send the 15” back. Does the Australian store have the same return policy??

Yep, it’s in their standard Australian Store return policy. Make sure you don’t forget to take a copy/print out the receipt.

I'm reading the description that it will "appeal to gamers" as confirmation of a new GPU...

I’ll believe it when I see it, Apples current marketing has the following:

“Play a graphics-intensive game like Fortnite and enjoy responsive performance and vivid detail”

That’s about on par with their iPhone marketing for gaming, which can also can run fortnite, if I am not mistaken. I’m not much of a gamer, but Cartoon-like graphics to me does not seem too “graphics intensive”.

I believe they call this damage control. I bet Apple has been working on this updated model for quite some time and it's finally at the point where it's ready. Takes care of the complaints about the keyboard, and the high-end pros desire for a larger screen. Now the big test will be whether they add back the SD card slot & HDMI port. I'm not holding my breath but it would a revelation if it happened.
and remove the touch bar.. then we're golden ;)

Unless Apple incorporates legitimate cooling, it doesn’t matter what is in it, it will underperform. I genuinely hope Apple fixes the problems their blind pursuit of “thin” has created. Fix the keyboard. Fix the thermals. Fix the repairability. I’d also like to see return of at least one legacy port. Sucks to have to break out a hub for just about everything.

Well, thicker (and heavier) is probably not going to happen. Apparently, Apple is OK in making iPhones bigger, but laptops is another story (and it has some sense, as laptops may be heavy to carry around, especially 15 and 16-inchers).

I’m still waiting for the headline: Apple’s new 14” MBP to replace current 13” model

That one would be really nice. And it is probably happening, but the 16-inch will likely come first.

Entry level storage should be at least 512GB. It should have been at least 512GB for awhile now.

I have to agree with you. Storage of the 15-inch model begins at 256 GB since 2012, when Apple released the 15-inch retina MacBook Pro. It is over 7 years now that the storage is the same.

So, if this 16.4 is a direct replacement for the Current 15.6, can we confidently assume the 13 inch will be replaced by a 14 inch next year?
I am not after one of these 16.4 inches but I would totally replace my 30 months old 13 inch by a 14 incher around June next year.
Make it happen Apple.

16.4 inches? I do not now where this additional 0.4 inch comes from. There have been some 16.4-inch 16:9 laptops, but the display ratio is different from the one used by Apple (16:10).

I suppose the 13-inch model will be replaced by a 14-inch one. If Apple goes this trend of reducing bezels, then the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be the next in line. And Apple is probably going to do it, as most competitors are already doing it.

This sure appears to be true. All Best Buy’s in the Minneapolis area are out of the 15” model. B&H only has a couple models that are discounted almost indicating an Apple price drop. Should be a fun Wednesday.

Any rumors about FaceID on MacBook Pro? I can’t wear and charge my Watch at the same time for unlocking my Mac. My fingerprint changes frequently on TouchID

The new MacBook Pro is said to feature a revamped keyboard that's designed to be "more reliable," and previous rumors have indicated that it will abandon the butterfly switch mechanism Apple has been using for a new scissor switch mechanism.

Seriously, would it kill  to go back to inverted-T arrow keys, now that Jony has left the building? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apple said the Mac Pro is coming this Fall. Technically until December 21st that’s true but Fall is sept- November in my book. December is winter; Apple is late
Right on. I hate technicalities. BS crap. Technically I am married but when I’m at a bar I’m single in my book.
As for this notebook, whatever mechanism they use I want the stability of the butterfly keys. Not going back to wobbly keys. I also like shallow travel since I type about 3000 words a day.
And keep it thin! It’s a mobile device. I do not like schlepping 6 pounds of computer all day.

I agree, Apple is taking on gaming once again with the iOS game store to virtual reality with a computer. When you walk into a Best Buy store, PC gaming has grown large even the Target stores. Apple knows that this market sells high end computers so if you build a laptop that has gaming capability it will sell. And Apple has two partners, Intel and AMD that can help them deliver the goods with fast processors and fast GPU units.
