Did not see anything in the video.

Your post says numerous complaints, some people will complain just to complain and than you have some that just want to join the crowd and have no idea of what the problem is.

Out of all the people that are more than likely say " Yea I had that problem since I got it " How many are actually going to pack it up and take it to the genius or ship it out before asking the obvious question " Should I take this back to the Apple store "? Distance should NOT be a problem if you took the time to go the distance i.e. driving to buy the system than jump back in your gooney goohoo mobile and get this fixed. :D

Well, after viewing the pointless video I couldn't see anything wrong.

Seriously? Could you not see the lagging and the sound distortion?

I don't care if it is Adobe's fault or Apple's. The same video in youtube works very well on my Windows 7 Pro computer. I have been waiting for the right deal to buy an Apple. I thought that was it. I am interested in the 27' iMac, but I think that I should consider that a lot more seriously. I have heard about more bugs in SL than in Windows 7. I don't to pay 2000 dollars for a machine that can be great for some stuff and mediocre for other simple stuff like running Flash. There is also the bug that deletes your files if you are using a guest account.

Welcome to the World of PowerPC!...

Welcome to the World of PowerPC Snow Leopard users!

Almost all of these problems have persisted on Leopard 10.5.8 for PowerPC Macs for a long long time.

#1: I file Safari crash reports daily, most are Flash related, but not all, some are also Javascript related.

#2: Flash performance on even a Dual Core G5 is ridiculously sluggish compared to even an OLD Pentium 4 PC! I've done the comparison, it's embarrassing.

#3: Disk permissions are always corrupted. Some people claim this doesn't cause problems, but my experience comparing Tiger, Leopard, & now Snow Leopard suggests to me otherwise.

ONLY TIGER WILL RUN FOR MONTHS & MONTHS WITHOUT A CRASH OR KERNEL PANIC OR PERSISTENT SPINNING BEACHBALLS THAT REQUIRE A REBOOT!

#4: The MAIL program is also sluggish and often spins the beachball. When the original carbon/MacOS 9 compatible AOL program & the newer AOL client send mail & attachments faster than Apple's MAIL program, guess what?
HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

So, please Apple, can I get a side order of 10.5.9 with my 10.6.2 please?

PS: The last time I complained about any of these issues I was warned by the MacRumors moderators for SPAMMING the board! LOL

Paybacks are a biATCH aren't they fanbois? :D

doesn't flash play slowly on all macs?

Yes. And if not, it uses up an inordinate amount of system resources and causes your cooling fans to kick on.

Apple not being able to get Flash to run properly on OSX is kind of pathetic. Their apathetic attitude towards fixing it is even more disconcerting. :(

What's with the focus on Flash? As per above and in the other thread, people are experiencing this issue who are not running Flash.

The apparent reason people seem to be focusing on Flash is to place the blame on Adobe, for many seemingly because they can't bear the thought that this is an Apple problem.

In any event, IMHO, Flash should not be able to corrupt the OS - you should be able to kill the Flash process and have everything go back to normal even if Flash itself hoses. If it's hosing the OS, then Apple has a problem as well. And in any event, if half of the sites on the web or other ordinary use will cause obvious problems on the machine, this seems like something Apple QA should have noticed if they were testing the machines reasonably.

With HTML 5 video can be directly embedded within a web page without the need for Flash. Hopefully that will be the future.

Ugh, I hope it goes smoother than CSS.

Actually, I would have very few issues with CSS if I didn't have to support any MS browsers... ;)

This is kind of interesting to me, because on my MacBook Air (rev 2) I've noticed in the past few days that Flash performance in Safari is truly abysmal, as in claymation cinematography slow - it didn't used to be. Flash still plays fine in Firefox, however.

I know the original story is about the new big iMacs; but I wonder if perhaps there's an issue it's not actually tied to just that hardware.

Since it is on Apple discussion boards, it might be Microsoft employees trying to counter-attack Apple's product refresh just prior to 7's release. I haven't noticed any issues on my new 27-inch iMac.

Ummm... No. It's real. Glad it's gotten attention. I thought I'd be left with this being an issue for a long time, but there's a pretty good chance someone will respond with action now.

But yeah, this doesn't really look good for Apple, regardless of whose is to blame. Hearing Mac switch commercials telling the headaches of moving to windows 7, only to end up having problems with moving to new Macs.

Funny thing though, my friend's 64-bit Windows 7 box has problems with flash too. I watched as his system froze on a fullscreen video, and his only recourse was to press the power button. So yeah, flash sucks.

PowerPC is dead. It is no longer even part of the Apple discussion. It is unsupported legacy-ware.

Flash isnt very good on the Mac, let alone on PowerPC. You're G5 is outclassed many times over by even the cheapest Mac Mini. Time to upgrade!

Sorry but I don't think the problem here is flash, even with its reputation. This is an issue that Apple needs to address, so try to control your impulsive need to defend Apple, fanboys.

We all know what a mess Snow Leopard is becoming

Then you've screwed up your own system.

I've got two PowerPC systems, iBook G4 14" and Powerbook G4 15" and Safari runs smoothly on both. WebKit runs smoothly on the Powerbook as I don't bother testing on the iBook.

Firstly flash player is an adobe issue not an apple one as they are too lame ass to fix the problems since snow leopard.

Flash player since SL has been crap fully and apple can only do so much to help the problems.

If flash player was better optimized for SL and OSX in general we all wouldn't see these issues.

These issues with flash player are not confined to just the mac side as the pc side is seeing similar and other issues as well.

It's running fine on my PC and my Mac running Leopard

No we don't.

There is no such sentiment reflected in the bulk of Apple's market. Ergo, the sentiment doesn't really exist.

Except all of the problems being reported, and the fact that SL was supposed to be an immediate improvement upon Leopard

Seconded.

Flash runs a little better after rolling my macbook back to "Vanilla" Leopard, among other things. But the problem with this guy's mac could be something to do with the hardware. I read in his description that it was a problem with Airport and the Apple engineers are working on it.

You do realize Adobe is a large company with a lot of programmers right?

They also make the Flash plug-in for Windows and OSX. It is up to Adobe to address this problem not Apple.
If Apple were to "write their own plugin" it would do nothing because in essence you're saying Apple should re-write the Flash plug-in and give it to Adobe.

Adobe would never allow that to happen.
This problem is a direct result of Adobe not caring about making Flash better.

Microsoft has it's own Mac Unit that makes cross-platform applications such as Silverlight, which is actually better than Flash. At least Microsoft tries to make their product better. I have seen no desire on the part of Adobe to make their OSX products better. They simply do not care because the web uses it so much and Windows holds a 90 something % share of O/S's.

Apple teams up with the fsf, finishes gnash /thread :D
