Based on product numbers K29 is NOT a notebook.

The great part is that there is ZERO chance that $1299 is the low-end notebook from Apple. Perhaps they have discovered a way to truly hide items from sources.

Just saying that LED's cost more, so that's why they would sell a 24" monitor for $899 when LCD ones are going for much less.

I'm pretty sure it's LED.
arn

24" LED screen with dock for 15" MBP
Ports replicated in back (USB, Firewire, audio in/out, and ext. monitor)
wired keyboard and wired mouse

$899

...maybe :D

In order for something to dock into the display it would have to be a smaller form factor and much lighter than the Macbook Pro. Think of how awkward it would be otherwise. I would personally be VERY concerned about scratches.

I've never purchased an Apple product. I was only considering one because that's what my school used. Hopefully Apple wows me tomorrow or I'll just get the 15" Dell for $600 with firewire ports, more usb ports, ATI dedicated graphics, blu-ray, better specs than the Macbook, etc. Bill Gates is still gangster, so don't expect him to keep slipping up in the future. We'll see tomorrow. Macbook for $799 with blu-ray, 2 firewire ports, dedicated graphics, etc and I might be sold.

is it just me or are the rumors getting wilder and wilder as the timer counts down.

I would go ahead and order your Dell now.

This is going to be awesome. I have been waiting to see what Apple do with the re-desgned cinema display for an age now!! It makes sense the standard MacBook would come in at $999

It is not just you. Arn or someone else in the know would have to confirm this, but this go around seems much more chaotic than usual.

Just preparing for work here in Belgium, and I just knew I had to check Macrumors before I left.

Been a busy night Arn ;)

I'm with the docking station rumir, as that is what I'd like to see. However, an $800 LEd is exactly the sort of thing that would hurt Apple's bottom line...

We'll see ;)

My post will focus on the rumors around the Macbook Pro as that is what I am most interested in.

1) Macbook Pro with dual NVIDIA GPUs in an SLI configuration to drive a large display while docked.

2) Elegantly implemented multitouch trackpad with no physical buttons with new magnetic latch.

3) 24" LED based dock with a USB hub or firewire hub built into the display.

#2 has nothing to do with the dock rumor, but it is something I find interesting at the very least.

#1 and #3 could bit together quite nicely because all that graphics power isn't really necessary when dealing with such a small display.

Bring on tomorrow.. my credit card is almost empty and I need to run up the balance. :D

Well have fun with your Dell, It's fine id actually prefer less people using Macs so i look cooler in public.

As long as there are updated macbooks, I'm happy. I could fork out for a MBP, but it would be extreme overkill for me. Heck, I need a laptop even more badly now my EEE PC charger decided to cark it yesterday :(
