I'd definitely want higher. My display used to look great, but after getting a 4th gen iPod touch, it looks horribly blocky after using the touch for a few minutes. Yes, you'd need resolution independence, which has been partially implemented into OS X for ages now, so they could finish that up. And graphics cards will need to get a lot faster....

so you want apples computers to start at $6,000+ ?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

one thing that I notice on all of current iPhone 4 ads are just how emotionally engaging they are to our own episode of life.

IMHO, while all tech companies race through spec marvel, one element that Apple employs (discreetly elegant) and those bunch lack there of, is its engagement to our daily chores.

In the UK they have been doing that for years with Car Adverts and it drives you nuts.

It was said they could never make adverts like the UK ones in the US as it would be a waste of time.

Modern car adverts tell you sod all about the car. they try and sell you a lifestyle or sell you a feeling that goes with the car. Making out that if you buy this car, you too with have a beautiful wife, 2 pretty children who behave perfectly and are always happy and you are driving in some area with superb landscape.

Drives you crazy these adverts.

I prefer a lower dpi display that shows correct colors over a Retina display that shows white and grey as blue.

Guess you never like OLED screen on every hi-end Android phone then 'cause you'll never have "correct color" on them.

No what ? You say No then go on to say the exact same thing I did. Basically that 326 ppi is a treshold for a certain viewing distance. 326 PPI is exactly like I and you said, a resolution for a screen size. 4 pixels in 1 just means you have a higher resolution on the same size screen (3.5" screen, 480x320 and 960x640 respectively).

This is what I said and furthermore :

It means at an ergonomic distance for common uses you won't discern the difference. We usually aren't smashing our faces up to the screen to notice that there is a difference.

This is exactly what I said again. Are you just disagreeing and then saying the same thing to make it look like I was wrong ?

326 ppi is dependant on being at a normal viewing distance for a phone screen. A computer screen is looked at from further away, and a TV from much further away, so the pixel density (number of pixels per inch) can be lower while still allowing for the same retina effect.

Obviously not. Clearly I'm talking about the possible future, where screens with a higher pixel density are common.

I have the iPhone 4 and I don't notice a difference on the screens on this or my old 3GS.

The only possibilities here are A) legally blind or B) trolling.

Awesome, I can watch hi def on a tiny ass phone, but not on a 27 inch screen.

You should really learn that there is more then 1 way to get hi def video.

I watch hi def video on my 27" iMac all the time. Blu-Ray Isn't the only way to get hi def video...

I don't believe the 326 ppi is dependent on the distance between the phone and the eyes.

Try using some magnifier lens.

http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/features/retina-display.html has more info on the screen resolution.

Uh ? Of course it's not. PPI, Pixels per inch. It's the number of pixels you have in an inch of screen.

The retina effect is what is dependant on the distance between the screen and the eye on top of the screen's resolution and size (PPI).

Seriously, guys, at least try to understand my posts...

I still never get tired of the screen after months of use. Still marvel at it every now and then :)

Why not? Your 27" screen far exceeds 1080p. Do you have a clue what you're talking about or are you complaining about the lack of blu-ray support?

But guess who put it in a smartphone first. Apple.

They set the standard and now all smartphones will soon have a "retina" display.

No need to hit up a thread with the "android is better then the iphone will ever be attitude" its ****ing annoying.

Never understood the troll mentality. It's more telling than anything. Usually if someone hates or dislikes something they avoid it and it doesnt get the time of day to bother. I hate brussell sprouts and beets. When Im at the store I dont hang out at the brussell sprout and beet display mocking it, I go get the stuff I want and enjoy, unless it is I truly like brussell sprouts and just wont admit it....food for thought trollers

ugly scan lines

My "retina display" has ugly scan lines and basically ruins the magic for me. This is my second phone with the problem.:apple:
