- slightly quicker charging - hardly what I would call fast.
- Why would you want a wallet that sticks to your phone? Credit cards are not needed if you are using any of NFC payments methods that Apple promote constantly?
to be more cynical
Much more than one I’m pretty sure. They'll always be one I guess.
Now that’s a stupid comment! What's with the attitude and the smart arse comments and what has a watch got to with anything.
This is a stupid product and offers zero benefit to anyone over above plugging a cable in; it is not even as useful as that!
Now that’s a stupid comment!
And it’s clear you have never owned Apple Watch, which use the same concept of charging.
If you have Apple Watch which also use magnetic charging you will know that it’s very easy to nudge it off. Now clearly the phone weight and the watch weight are different so we have to see how this pans out but what I’m trying to say is .. why being an ass instead of being open minded? 🤷🏻♂️I have several smartwatches that use that concept....err because it is very hard to have a port. Unless you hadn't noticed, the iPhone is not suffering that problem.
Tetherless charging is supposed to be more convenient than plugging a cable in because you can just "drop on" and "lift off" your phone. That convenience is at the compromise of slower charging and not being able to charge and use your phone at the same time.
But hey, what do Apple do, they remove the convenience, and still charge the phone slower than a cable in a port..and you still can't use your phone!.
Genuis and folks just lap it up!!

With the Apple solution, there is no "just lifting it off the pad" - you can't. You have to physically pull apart the phone from the pad, akin to pulling out a cable from a lightning port. If you actually did use a lightning cable, you at least use longer ones and at least with some practicality still use the phone whilst charging - with the MagSafe, that is very impractical given the 1m ~ 3ft cable. Only Apple!!
I exclusively use "wireless" charging [I prefer to call it tetherless charging] and all my pads are actually stands and I never miss finding the sweet-spot for charging; if I miss the sweet-spot, I didn't put it on the stand!!
I also struggle to understand the wallet attachment; do you have that connected to the phone alll of the time, i.e. when putting into and pulling out of your pockets? If so, seems to me that is going to be an annoying snag during that process?

The product isn’t released. There is no review. No one knows how well it works yet you already call it out. That’s closed minded, not open.I am open minded, that's why I see the stupidity of the product. Your closed mind sees nothing but the spin from Apple. Your mind is so closed, you still can't accept the reality when folks spell it out to you
Yes, they deliver on Sunday now in the U.S. too.EXCUSE ME BUT... How did they get these so early? Do they do deliveries on Saturdays? Someone explain please!
iPod Socks would like to debate that point. It is 2020. Year of the stupid. Yes this is the silliest product Apple has introduced.
Does this charger also charge the Apple Watch?
Apple's new MagSafe charger and cases have begun arriving to some customers earlier than expected, and images of the accessories have started to surface on Twitter. The photos provide a first look at the products in real-world use.

As of writing, some MagSafe cases are also available for pickup at select Apple Stores in countries like the United States, Canada, and Germany.
Filip Chudzinski, developer of Apple Watch band app Bandbreite and editor of Apple Store-focused Twitter account Storeteller, has shared a number of high-quality images of the MagSafe charger and the Deep Navy Silicone Case for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

YouTube channel DerDaku has shared a MagSafe charger unboxing video in German:
MagSafe is set to improve the charging experience on iPhone 12, with magnets that are optimized for alignment and efficiency, and the technology still supports existing Qi charging mats.
MagSafe also brings a new ecosystem of magnetic cases and accessories that snap onto the iPhone 12. This includes new silicone, leather, and clear cases that easily connect onto the back of the iPhone, as well as a separate leather wallet accessory. Third-party accessories from Belkin and OtterBox have also been announced.
The images reveal a ring containing MagSafe's magnets on the interior of the case and confirm that Apple's new silicon cases cover the bottom of the iPhone for the first time.
The MagSafe charger also seems to be made of matte silver aluminium, unlike the polished metal seen on Apple's similar Apple Watch charging puck.

So plugging a cable into your phone is sooooo much effort that you rather spend £39 to attach a magnetic disc to your phone. Which has a fixed length cable attached to it, and then it plugs into the same USB-C port. I still don't know what's "wireless" about having one cable plugged in the wall connecting to a USB-C charger, and one cable connecting the charger to a magnetic disc. The point is that it will presumably take less effort to just place your phone onto the wireless charging pad and just lift it off the pad when you are done,
Vs plugging in a cable into your phone to charge it, and then unplugging it when you are done charging.
