Anyone comment how strong the magnet is? The Max Pro is a pretty heavy phone, and I'm curious will the magnets be able to hold it going down the road on a Vehicle Mount. My Scosche currently hold my 6S+ perfectly, and I love it, but it has a solid 2-3" round magnet within the mount, not just a thin ring.
This accessory was featured in the keynote.

Do wish the MagSafe charger cable was removable. Would be nice to have flexibility in wire lengths.
Just like Samsung Wireless chargers you can replace the cable or use it for wired charging instead of carrying two different set of cables.

I use Samsung Wireless charger for my iPhone 11 Pro Max and remove the cable to charge Android mobils through USB-C.

I don't trust the Apple *weak* cables permanently slapped to the charger. Sooner or later the tail portion of the Appke cables worn out and you need to again replace it by buying everything!

I need a credit card case so I will have to remove my phone from the case to charge. There is no way in hell i trust the Apple magnetic wallet thing. I am much to careless pulling out my phone out of my pocket not to accidentally detach and lose my drivers license and credit cards

Will someone please explain something to me.....I have an iphone 6S Plus and am planning on purchasing an Iphone 12. Have been following the developments re: the MagSafe accessories and charging matt....I am just not understanding the benefit of spending $$$ on the MagSafe charging matt and, therefore, the Mag Safe enabled cases. Can someone please explain to me what the advantages are? I am just having a difficult time figuring this out..ty

I haven’t been a fan of the silicone case in the past - prefer leather. However, the new ones look nice. I ordered the same case and had planned to return it when the leather case is available but I might opt for the silicone instead.

In terms of advantages over other wireless charging solutions, MagSafe is such that you can still use your phone while charging. The biggest problem with wireless charging is that as soon as you pick your phone up, it is no longer charging. also, as Apple states, if the phone isn’t properly seated on the charger, it can actually be less efficient.

of course MagSafe is just one way of charging, you can still charge using a power adapter with a 20watt adapter for $19

What I want to know is how convenient the actual magsafe charger is. I imagine it stays stuck to the phone as you pick it off the night stand, which sounds clunkier than how i want my wireless charger to work.
True, that remains to be seen. Though it doesn’t seem to add too much thickness tbh.

My SUPER boring question: if you choose to go without a case on your shiny, more durable, iPhone 12/Pro, will the MagSafe charger scratch the glass back?

Just give your phone and the charger a wipe now and again to prevent any larger abrasive dust particles from accumulating.

Otherwise, yes, if any fine sand or anything like that gets on there, it will likely cause small swirls over time.

You still can. You just need to buy a USB-C extension cable. I do this with a number of my devices. It's what I'll do with the HomePod mini as well, which has a fixed cable.

I know it's a small pain to buy an extension cable, but if you'd buy a longer cable anyway if the MagSafe charger had a detachable cable, you're gonna pay the same price for an extension cable.

🙃

So how are the magnets gonna play with Credit Cards in the MagSafe pouches?

Protected by the pouch lining, although you Americans really should stop with the magnet strip every other country have been using the chip for the last 10 years and are now paying wireless through rfid, so you're using a 2 generation old technique of paying.

I wish I understood the point of the standalone MagSafe charging cable. Lightning is a nice tiny little jack, whereas this thing is a giant puck. I’m genuinely interested in hearing from people who prefer this specific cable option to lightning.

I completely understand the rationale for charging mats / docks where you just drop the phone onto them, and Apple has announced one of those that will also charge the Watch, but that’s not what the $39 MagSafe product is.

Please someone who wants this help me understand why you’re going to buy this and use it instead of the Lightning cable they include in the box.

Do you have a reputable brand you could recommend? I looked on Amazon but they all look like cheap knockoffs.

I have a magnetic mount in my car now. I believe I will have to replace it with a metal plate in order to attach the iphone 12 to the car mount?
