That’s a good point. I’m not sure if the MagSafe wallet has magnets inside or just a piece of metal so that it sticks to the back of the phone. I feel like the added magnets on the case are probably there so that the MagSafe charger or phone mount can still grab Your phone even with the added thickness of the case. Maybe with the wallet you have to give that up.
On the Apple website description, it says the MagSafe charger has "e-Shield".

This seems to directly counteract the environmental benefits of not including chargers with new iPhones. Are these not using more materials than a simple charging cable? And is it really any less convenient to plug in a lighting cord to the bottom of the phone to charge?

You don't have to buy one. It's an option. I don't intend to buy one, I'll just reuse one of my 1000 USB-Lightning cables I have around.

Re: the MagSafe leather wallet, personally, I wouldn’t want my credit cards sticking out in full view of other people when I’m on the phone.
I’m concern on how secure it will hold the cards and how many cards can it fit. But just like yourself, I don’t feel comfortable having my cards attached to my phone when using my phone, but it’s a nice accessories for going on tho (when you’re barely taking out your phone or using your phone as often).

Sheer genius. This in hind sight appears obvious, but why havent we seen this beofre on other smartphones? Whomever came up with this at Apple deserves a bonus. A Starbucks gift card or something for adding god-knows-how-much money to the Apple ecosystem.
Look up the Palm pre, it used magnets to help alignment for wireless charging

Am looking forward to someone, somewhere, (quite likely Aliexpress!) offering a MagSafe magnet ring to make it easy for us to make our own add-ons.

A peppermint sweet holder.

Something to attach your car keys - or front door keys. (Until our phones act as keys for everything.)

A polarising filter.

This setup, with the silicon adhesives is still popular. The issue is that those pop things are directly competing for space.

Protected by the pouch lining, although you Americans really should stop with the magnet strip every other country have been using the chip for the last 10 years and are now paying wireless through rfid, so you're using a 2 generation old technique of paying.
We know but the stores and processing services keep the old tech forever. We still have major retailers that do not accept contactless payments or they have created a QR system so they can track purchase data. We would love to have tech move faster.

Pretty sure it will stick to the phone, what's the use of this charger if you still have to manually detach it like with a plug.
You could adhere it to the surface. Use dual lock if you think you want to move it often.

I have a wireless Qi charger by my bedside. I have to place the phone just so in order for it to charge. MagSafe will help place it correctly which should be a benefit if you have ever woken up in the morning with a phone that was off just a bit and didn't charge.

I love my qi on my desk, but not on my night table because my cats have a habit of stepping on it. This seems perfect for me, and double points for not being some elaborate contraption that angles it.

It's a 100% pure gimmick product

How so? It’s the first time there’s been a native way to attach accessories easily to the iphone. It will enable all sorts of new things like easy to use car and bike mounts, external lens attachments, cases with new functionality, kickstands, etc. all of which can more easily be pulled off and on and changed at will.

I am honestly really stoked about apple’s wireless charging solution. One of the things I dislike about wireless charging is that if you need to use your iPhone, then it’s not charging anymore. MagSafe seems to solve that.

Much better than what AirPower would have been tbh
I mean, has it solved it? I don't want hold my phone and the charging device at the same time.

What I want to know is how convenient the actual magsafe charger is. I imagine it stays stuck to the phone as you pick it off the night stand, which sounds clunkier than how i want my wireless charger to work.
My thought, too. I won't be able to just pick it up with one hand, like when I'm laying in bed? I guess you could anchor the MagSafe with foam tape, but then I worry about heat/fire. IDK.
