interested in the MagSafe duo, I find it odd that there's no mention of it at all on Apple's website.. Curious to see what the price is going to be.

Anybody see the weird Apple Pencil-like pad below the power button on all 4 models? Wonder what that could be used for as they didn't even mention it in the event. Could it be another one of those "extra tech" features like they did with the AirPods Pro where they introduce new hardware features later on?

The sim tray that's been on every iPhone?

I just bought a new pair of Airpod Pros. Is this MagSafe charger "backwards-compatible" with Qi? Or will I need two separate wireless charging stations for the Airpods and new iPhone
Get the new dual charger once it is released. Also I think the Qi charging is only on the phone end. The MagSafe charger is proprietary. So phone will work on Qi charger, but the MagSafe won't charge a Qi compatible device.

MagSafe cant be dropped onto like a wireless charger so its pointless it should have a desk base

What do you mean? I'm envisioning these similar to the AW chargers where they just stick onto the back.

I'm also curious how strong the magnets are, would be great to see them strong enough to stick onto a car wireless charger.

I think it is for proper alignment of the phone with the pad. The magnets should snap the phone into place and only do so in one orientation.

It says compatible with Qi-enabled devices.

Nope, check the other side. Sim tray is on volume side, the new pad is on the power button side.

I understand then that I can charge an iPhone 11, Qi at 7.5w - maybe having a case with magnets might help to attach the MagSafe charger to iPhones from 8-11?

I thought I saw a third party car mount (vent?) flash on the screen when they were talking about it. I have a vent mount now but would love a slim version that used the MagSafe magnets.

I REALLY wish this didn’t have an attached cable, and you could just plug any cable into it. As that tiny cable, like most apple cables is bound to break in no time, making this another thing that just gets binned.

considering their environment push, it would have made much more sense to just have a usbc port (or even apple port) on it and no fixed cable. Would have saved on materials and considerably extended the life of the thing.

Here’s to hoping Belkin bring out a better one 🤣
