Nope, check the other side. Sim tray is on volume side, the new pad is on the power button side.View attachment 966011View attachment 966012
Is it the mmwave antenna so only on US phones?

That rounded rectangle below the power button is a 5G antenna cut-out, I believe. It was discussed a few months ago when someone leaked a photo of it.I'm talking about that pad on the side, underneath the power button... shouldn't have anything to do with magnets.

Best used integrated in a stand, same as AW. I'd still use a 20W wired, faster and probably still better for battery life.I still can't find what is useful on this charger... do you place it on your desk and then you place an iPhone on it? Is it heavy enough to stay on the desk if you move your iPhone close to it or are the magnets stronger, so the charger will hit the back of the iPhone?
Weird product...
I can't wait to confuse this with my watch charger while packing.

Nice catch. I'm positive that's what it is. I compared the iPhone 12 images from the Apple US and Apple AU websites. Only those on Apple US have that little pad thing under the power button. Is it the mmwave antenna so only on US phones?
I can tell you what's useful about it easily. My Belkin wireless charger (thankfully comp'd by Apple for my troubles) requires me to get the right "G-spot" to activate charging on my iPhone 11. Very frustrating. Now it just sits on my table doing nothing because I don't have the patience to deal with it. I thought it would be simple as sitting the iPhone on it and charging begins. I came here to make or look for this exact comment. It really is no different than unplugging the cable from the port. In that sense, i still prefer 'regular' wireless chargers. I suppose a crude workaround is to put some double sided tape underneath the charger...If my iPhone sticks to the puck when I lift it (like Clark Griswold's sappy fingers glued to the magazine in Christmas Vacation), then what's the point? How is that even "wireless?"
Anybody see the weird Apple Pencil-like pad below the power button on all 4 models? Wonder what that could be used for as they didn't even mention it in the event. Could it be another one of those "extra tech" features like they did with the AirPods Pro where they introduce new hardware features later on?
I wonder if this can be wall mounted. That would be great.
Duo will be over 100 I imagineSo is this going to be a $100 accessory? How much is it going to cost?
separate of course! don't you have 5,000 laying around your house you can use??Does it come with a charging brick or is that separate?
It's separate (based on the Apple website information for the product).Does it come with a charging brick or is that separate?
I doubt many people have the right charger lying around; the MagSafe has a USB-C connector only. All the old Apple chargers use USB-A.separate of course! don't you have 5,000 laying around your house you can use??![]()
i'm kidding...and you proved my point.I doubt many people have the right charger lying around; the MagSafe has a USB-C connector only. All the old Apple chargers use USB-A.
So now I'm wondering if we're going to have another antenna-gate. Isn't that the spot where most people would hold the phone? I wonder why they didn't place that antenna notch on the top.Is it the mmwave antenna so only on US phones?
Glad I could help.i'm kidding...and you proved my point.
