Did you even read the article? It says Google isn't receiving your information from Apple.Yup. If I wanted google listening through my microphone at all times for a wake phrase then I'd have an android.
Does 1B even cover the cost of running inference for millions (billions?) of queries from Apple users each year, let alone R&D and training and infra?
Zuck pays that much for one engineer.
Uuuuh, Tim Cook won't even be able to sleep tonight. Mentaluproar is going to stop using the Apple ecosystem.yea goodbye siri. I'll build my own local setup with home assistant and start migrating off the apple ecosystem. If they are giving up, so am I.
Steve Jobs is dead.Damn bending the knee to google after the whole google maps fiasco back then.
Timmy you think Steve Jobs is happy about this?
Erm, that reaction score says otherwise, sweetie....Nobody cares. Why even comment then? Provide something useful to the discussion.

"Once" is the point.Apple flushing themselves over AI is peak irony for a company that once touted "Think Different".
Tell me we are in a bubble without telling me we are in a bubble. These companies are spending $100's of billions to build out data centers and when one of the largest users available comes to use their AI, it only costs $1B? I'm terrible at math but that math doesn't seem to math.Only 1.2 billion per year and no access to data to further monetize.
Hmm.. 🤨
Copy, didn't realize. If they did buy Anthropic, I'd argue a "buy once cry once" mentality, especially given how much cash Apple has on hand. They are falling behind fast and it's unfortunate how much turnover they have had, mostly thanks to all the poaching. I know Apple is never first to the party but at this point their AI footprint is almost non-existent and I'd like to hope they catch up.Perplexity is an AI wrapper. Buying Anthropic makes more sense from a technological perspective, but it’s likely too expensive.
Keep google hands off my data. no thanks.

This is a joke. I try to use as little services from Google as possible.
I would not trust anything that's being transmitted from Apple products to Siri from now on.
Many folks commenting here don't even realize that Apple isn't sharing the data, yet, sit here and comment about how their data is about to be stolen. It shows you how many people either can't or don't read the article. The number of people commenting on this thread who are hard of understanding, or unable/unwilling to read very clear information is actually quite frightening.
That’s because it’s garbage and it’s deliberately designed to reflect the half ass job apple didtried to use some Apple Intelligence features since getting my 17PM, haven't found any need, maybe it is time to set the toggle to OFF.
