You know, the only thing more annoying than Apple presenting new watchbands and acting like it's both innovative and a big deal ... is people continuing to make the same. damn. watchbands. joke. Over and over again. We get it.
Apple has hit a very rough patch in the past month. If they don't renew the whole Mac line and put out that monitor, they will have a worse slide into early 2017.

Anyone with eyes saw this coming since 2013. I suspect it will worsen for another year or two, before someone corrects the slack job Apple is doing with product refresh. Perhaps the new campus will help pull efforts together a little better.
I bet that campus does more damage than anything to Apple. The move alone is going to disrupt their progress on anything for months. Once they're in, it will take them a few years to get over themselves (not the company, the employees) for having a workspace/home like that.

I'm 99% sure that its gonna be let down big time in terms of ports and skylake.
By which you mean you don't think they'll be putting Skylake chips into their MBPs? Because if there's one thing I'm basically certain is going to happen, it's that.

Well, this is exciting and also an inconvenience for me. I was going to Apple's store this a.m. to order a new iPot Touch for myself, the 6th gen 128 GB, and the store is down?! So now I have to wait?
I am dying to know if they are going to release any new iPod Touch models today? 7th gen perhaps? Otherwise, I'll be so disappointed.....

I disagree, a true Apple professional/fan will never be impressed with Microsoft offerings. Only the 'new' Apple customer could be swayed by the shallow front of a Windows 'product'. Just because a Ford Focus may have a new 'something' designed to it will never make it better than a Ferrari! And Mac users will know that they have the Ferrari!

What? That's just blind brand loyalty. About as stupid and unprofessional as you can get.

Rubbing my hands together for the glut of Retina MacBook Pros under AppleCare showing up on EBay.

Right now a brand new in box 15" Mid 2015 i7 2.5GHZ Quad Core with 16GB Ram and 256 Flash is listed for "buy it now" at $1599, so if I find a good auction I could make out really really well.

2 1/2 years ago I picked up a 13" Mid 2012 for $580 and put in an SSD and 16GB Ram.

I'll sell that for $500 today and add $900 or less and get a nice upgrade.

Unless what they announce today blows my mind, that's my plan.

I bought a 15" 512gb 2015 2.5 about 10 days ago $250 off. Hoping for more on price match when new ones come out and current models drop. Hope I can resist the lure of the new ones. Lol

I am embarrassed for you.

Still, there is hope. You do mention users at the end rather than the utterly appalling 'fan'.

I mean, a fan of a corporate entity?

With the amount of information on the new MBP we already have, including actual pictures from Apple, I wouldn't be surprised if they are available for order immediately. I'm not expecting it, but I wouldn't be surprised either :D

Also, the fact that even Microsoft is still launching products with Skylake and last year's graphics chips make me feel better about the fact that these MBPs will likely be Skylake as well.

I got the 256GB 15" 2 months ago for $300 off and I am so happy I did. These new offerings look like lesser devices. Glad I didn't wait.

One of the last online stores on earth that needs to go completely down just to update a few products...

This symbolizes how Apple views services. I know of no other retailer, and I have been responsible for some, that would take down a revenue producing website for the PR value. How out of touch can Apple get.

When does the Apple Store typically reopen on a new launch day? I'm excited to order a new MacBook Pro early. Does it usually reopen while the new product introductions are going on, immediately after, or perhaps a few hours later? Any hints as to how long the Apple presentation today will last?

In my experience, it has usually been immediately following the presentation (several minutes up to an hour perhaps). The presentations are usually 2-ish hours.

Another blind comment... Keep defending them and accepting inferior user experiences, because, you know, that that's Apple was always known for. Oh no, wait...

I prefer the UX on iOS and macOS. So I'm blind for being happy with what I'm using?

I'm looking forward to all the mea culpas in the new product threads from the innovation experts. "I was so wrong. Skylake is the best possible choice!"
I'm no expert but from what I see only the low power kaby lake chips are available.

thinking about getting a macbook of some description so hopefully they will entice me!!

sometimes, Apple fans might need to think from out-of-box, just like what Johnny and Steve Jobs always say.. out-of-box thinking. There are lots of good things from non-Apple vendors. I was thinking Motorola made the best phone in the wholewide world, then it came out with Blueberry, a killer, then now we have iPhone. Who will be the next great thing? certainly wont be Apple if they do not force on themselves and all the chip companies to get the products out of door. Microsoft this time did great job though the shipping date is a joke.

And you'd be missing a lot of features... I would say around 1K (even if the touch screen is worth more than that as cintiq shows.....) and 744gb of storage.

No one forces you to buy the Surface either or to buy the base model, to each his own.

I didn't infer that anyone is forced to buy the Studio. I simply said would you put your money where your mouth is and buy it.

I'll take a wild guess and say that Apple knows exactly how much business to expect when they roll out new products, and whether or not taking down the store front would actually limit sales in a significant way.

Nope we need the courage to stand up and boo Tim Cook when he tries to throw the BS on us about how innovative and exciting this announcement is.
I'm going to take an early lunch so I don't miss the beginning, I usually skip the early stuff but I think getting it all will give me a better perspective on my opinion of him and Apple.
