The iPhone sales will go down, if they can't keep innovating on the Mac side. That is one huge reason, I am still an iPhone user even though I am bored of the design and iOS at this point. Just my two cents...

Even if all Apple announced was the OLED strip for content aware functions, that's a significant innovation…despite how hard so many people on this forum try to downplay it. Compare that to the Surface Studio, which had fairly minor innovations in comparison (screen size/resolution for a large scale pressure sensitive device).

You know, the only thing more annoying than Apple presenting new watchbands and acting like it's both innovative and a big deal ... is people continuing to make the same. damn. watchbands. joke. Over and over again. We get it.

They'll likely stop when they graduate from junior high school.

I don't think anything Apple releases today will have the same wow factor as the digital dial Microsoft introduced yesterday.
Apple has no VR, they have not unlocked that "fantastic pencil" to work across all devices, they have no enterprise solutions that are truly interesting to most businesses, they are locked out of business accounting in any significant way... They just don't seem to have the steak to go with the sizzle these days.

I noticed that a couple of big chains are selling AirPort Express and Time Capsule at dumped prices this weekend... do I smell clearance sale to make room for new releases?
Those peripherals haven't been updated in ages, so it's about time. Wouldn't expect them to be announced on stage though. More likely they'll just quietly appear as a footnote on apple.com.

I agree. I hope to be surprised, but as I've said all along, this event feels cobbled together at the last minute.

I hope there's a big picture strategy revealed with a renewed focus on the Macs. Otherwise it will be just be shoring up holes in the product line that have been neglected for years.

They might be rolling out new Minis and Mac Pros.

I think they wanted to include the iMacs but something came up and prohibited that
Ready or not I still think that they'll announce new iMacs/Mac Pros just for announcing them. (and probably launching in Q1 2017)

Rubbing my hands together for the glut of Retina MacBook Pros under AppleCare showing up on EBay.
I first read "glut of Retina MBPs being returned to AppleCare"... I remember an insurance company reported that the number of iPhones being "accidentally" destroyed jumped up every time Apple released a new phone...

they have not unlocked that "fantastic pencil" to work across all devices

The Apple Pencil works in combination with specialized hardware inside the iPad Pro models, so although technically Apple could add that hardware across their lineup going forward (if that really made sense to do), it's not possible to simply "unlock" the functionality in prior devices.

While Macs only represent 12% of Apple's revenue...

...it's still a $20 billion a year business.

Imagine how big it could be if they put any kind of effort into it...

Apple only has about 5% of the computer market. How about taking some of the 95% they don't have? They are leaving tens of billions on the table while 60% of the total revenue of the company depends on a single product that exists in a finicky market.

Amazing.

I do believe we will start seeing some interesting innovation from apple. They are setting up some pretty massive offices and universities etc all over the world. They are building a foundation. Right now its a bit stagnant but not that much. Not enough for any of us to actually switch ecosystems. All their devices are well made and while not always cutting edge, are damn good.
