Apple's Online Store Down for Scheduled 'Maintenance' Break, Possibly Ahead of Product Updates

I'm betting that if this is just maintenance there are going to be some really annoyed people, even tho you can't blame Apple because they never promised products.

"We've got something special in store for you. And we can't wait for you to see it." I don't think that's just maintenance. Though doesn't necessarily promise anything actually exciting.

i think something as little at will be,will come up for sure... 5 hours for nothing new its non sense and the store is suppose to come up in the exact time of the day when apple usually make a little press conference to announce the silent updates

your probably right but peoples expectations tend to get the better of them.

Is Apple's website tech so bad that they have to take down the site for each product?
Compare Case 1: I look at a MacBook. I order it. I look again after ordering. There is a better model. I'm pissed off.
And Case 2: I look at a MacBook. The store is down. I look four hours later. There's a better model, I order it, I'm happy.

There are reasons beyond purely technical.

_And_ this is a situation where mistakes could be very expensive. More expensive than the site down for an hour. So they will do whatever minimises the chances of mistakes happening.

Since our country malaysia don't have apple store..
Below price are apple reseller
Iphone 5s -> drop to 1K MYR = 230 dollar

Well this is all very good and nice except if you bought it one minute before the store went down for 5.5 hours you still have a better model for old price. (And hopefully return it instead of sticking pins in a Tim Cook voodoo doll.)

The time for which the store is down is irrelevant really. The only way they could avoid *some* customers getting upset is to put big banners (a month ago) saying "DO NOT BUY, UPDATES COM..." oh no, that's Macrumors' Buyers' Guide.

Every small thing is special to Apple, so how can we expect much this morning. Ah, but Apple is playing it up with its 'special' message. But how can we expect anything big with just opening of the online store this morning from a company that has people standing in line for days to get their new products and having billions in their worth column. Why should they work any harder or stress over actually bringing us (worthwhile) products that some of us want.

Grasping at straws...

At this point back in the great old days which seems like the Triassic Era of Apple's history, even MacRumors' news were much more exciting and fun. They were full of hope and anticipation, well written and fun. Today Apple isn't the same, and you see it in the way the articles are generated here, they are not like they used to be. I'm not complaining, I'm just missing those days where Apple had Steve Jobs to make you excited because until you saw him introduce something you were always saying "nah... not getting it..." then... you see how awesome it was and bought it. Today, all you see are days behind the Pro Models and promises that don't hold. Macs are a novelty and fancy looking hardware, they simply cannot justify the price tag anymore. Dated tech, and weak machines. I never wanted to go to PCs but as a filmmaker, that's exactly where Apple has pushed me. So these updates don't mean anything... storage updates, size updates, and colour updates... that's hardly anything to get excited about...

Sorry folks, this doesn't apply to the brunt of you cause most of you are probably new Mac Users and never went through the era of "STEVE'S BACK!" or the introduction of the wonder that was the iMac. Those times mattered, today Apple is an iOS company with iPhones... I actually meet people who didn't know that iPhones belong to a family of MacOS operating computers... and that's sad...

How long has it been down? Just trying to work out when it'll be back up again given it was scheduled to be down for 5.5 hours.....here in Melbourne, Aust
