Good question and time will tell :)

The thing with the iMac is that the 21" models are still on broadwell, so you can make a case to bump them up, so both the 21" and 27" are on the latest chipset.

I wonder if they do the same with the MBP, would there be hue and cry about that action from recent customers?

That's true, they could just update the 21" iMac. I think if they dropped the price of the MacBook Pro it would help but first time adopters would probably be annoyed if there are updates already. As you say time will tell :)

They should have been doing silent speed bumps for the same macs every year. So if it's only a speed bump I'm wondering why they're doing this after so many years. If the iMac only gets a speed bump and no redesign whats however, it's my last needed push to Windows 10.

You won't hear any arguments from me on that!

Unfortunately I already jumped and built myself a new PC a couple of months ago. My Mac Mini is sat here collecting dust. I love OSX but am just do disillusioned with Apple and their attitude to desktops currently, that I've forced myself to un-tangle myself from OSX.

We're talking about a company that thought iPod Socks were "special". :p

Edit. Ha. Someone else was thinking the same thing. Apple's underwhelmingness is that well known.
I'm waiting for an iPhone mini. My sock has schrunk after washing

I wish they'd just give it spec bumps.

Not sure if they will go that far but yes it would, i do think eventually that the MacBook or the 13" MacBook without Touch bar will replace it but not until prices fall and i think Apple know this.

iMac Ryzen edition?

MacPro Ryzen edition?

If there is no new iMac or MacPro now, Ryzen could be the reason (APUs and low-power versions are only planned for later this year)

Even if just speed/processor/ram bumps, upgrading the Minis and MPs so I don't have to pay a premium for 2-3 year old technology would be nice.
