Not sure if they will go that far but yes it would, i do think eventually that the MacBook or the 13" MacBook without Touch bar will replace it but not until prices fall and i think Apple know this.

Which is a shame given at least in my experience, the Air is a more capable machine than either.

I don't understand why are people asking for new ipads? Apple updates ipads every year. There are macs that haven't been updated in years.

Because we don't see Apple updating them today, they will probably be announced at a separate event. The iMac may get a big upgrade later or if they do update them today it would only be a spec bump.

I wonder what it could be... Surprise us Apple.

Perhaps a new iCloud service as the extended down time (no..wait. that is still in the works)..

well...anyway it's "something" we know that much. Or it just could be nothing at all, and Apple could feel like bringing it down to dust it :)

For those of you that keep worrying about this being nothing, stop worrying! With what Apple is displaying on the storefront right now, some kind of updates to products are definitely happening.

For those hoping it is the MBP, I highly doubt any kind of update will happen this soon. It would do. Itching but piss of those that bought the new MBP, myself included, LOL.

Do you mean local store or online store? Online i see no changes. I'm curious if there will be an updated MacBook. I have ordered one at an Apple Partner which will be delivered today. Maybe i have to send it back.

For the love of God Apple, update the internals to the Mac Mini and Pro. Now would be the perfect time. Don't let me down.
They will. As other have said: minor changes to existing products. If they also do a press release: slightly less minor changes and maybe a new variation on an existing product. For really new products or major releases (e.g. MacPro, iMac), I would expect an event touting how great it all is. But nothing is certain until it is done.

Let's go new iMacs! I've decided to stretch my 2011 another year. But will likely buy one for my Mom. She will be thrilled.

Would have to agree with Gruber here. SoC and pricing updates to the iPad line, A10X, etc. Maybe even a Mini 5 with an A9. And if there's a bezel-less major redesign, it would come early next year (or very late this year at the earliest) AFTER the iPhone.

Yeah if they are going to update those at all, seems like WWDC would be the place. "We realized (after 3 years of yelling) that our super pro developy customers want power etc etc here's a new 16 core mac pro with Fire Pro 10,000s)."

Would like to see a new Mac Pro.

But it will probably just be new watch bands.... :(

Yeah, they aren't doing a stealth refresh of the Mac Pro after three years.

But I doubt they shut the site down for watch bands. Especially not in March which is about when they often introduce new products.

hah. So, it's true.. The rumor mill goes absolutely bonkers when Apple site goes down... Everyone expects something.

Jet Black AirPods would be really cool

That is definitely coming. The white ones are "advertising" since they are clearly an Apple product looking like the EarPods packaged with iPhones. But first Apple needs to figure out how to make enough AirPods that they can actually keep them in stock. So I wouldn't expect new colors until the fall. Then they sell them in colors to match the new iPhone 8 encouraging people to pick up both at the same time.

Seriously, when does a company of this size take down a web presence for 5.5 hours for "maintenance," even to release a new product?

Are they:
  • Making a new web server farm out of the old computers? Really?
  • Moving the computers to the attic from the basement?
  • Coding it as we speak?
  • The web developers getting trained on how the new products work, and need to understand it before putting the new web page up?
Something about this doesn't seem like... maintenance.
