Received a couple of unused codes will see if it works on my 2011 imac in the coming days --- A form of compensation over this debacle thank you very much. :D

Finally got working codes, and finished installing ML. I like what I see so far, hang in there, everyone! So far all of the changes I see are for the better. Haven't had any "what the . . . how do I . . . why would they do this?!" moments yet, like I did in Lion, almost every day I used it.

Still waiting

A full three days later, still no code. Applecare has no idea why it still shows pending. You would think after all the bad press they would just offer to give you a $20.00 credit in your Itunes account and be done with it. I am amazed that after all this bad press we have heard nothing from any Apple executives acknowledging the issues and attempting to do anything to make their customers feel better about the situation.

When I think about how much time I've invested in chasing down a $20.00 credit, I start to wonder why I've allowed Apple to suck me into this mess.

74 hours and still no code, not a single email from Apple, and Up to Date hasn't responded to my support email - probably going to put in a call to AppleCare today and see what they say.

I was happy to get an email from Apple this afternoon, only to realize that it was one of disappointment, and not one deserving of excitement. Here's what it said:
Image
The image I uploaded was a picture of the laptop itself. I am now realizing what they meant. I am away on vacation though, so I don'w have my receipt with me. Can I just screenshot my digital receipt?

You are not going to be away on vacation more than a month, are you? The program lasts 30 days, through August 24, 2012. You have plenty of time.

I'm about to reach the 77 hour mark with no emails of any kind... Apple told me 72 hours or less, but now what do I say to them when I call later??

Any one who didn't apply early still get bad code? Have you gotten a new one yet?

I submitted a day after Mountain Lion was available. About 2 days later I got a code that was bad. Replied back to Apple support with screen shot of error. Over a day later and still waiting for good code. Since it's unlikely they're working weekends, it'll probably be next week sometime before a good code comes my way.

Makes you wonder if it's just a ploy to entice legitimate free upgraders to just break down and pay the ~$20 to get the upgrade when Apple should've just automatically updated our accounts so it would pop up as a regular update in the App Store app.

This is my 3rd day waiting bro and I think I'm gonna be forced to do this anytime today.

go for it...

i got my code and redeemed it... so now its linked to my account... should i ever need to download it... i can get it from a legit source...

got to remember it isnt stealing...
its like the apple store not having any Retina MacBooks so you go and get one from Argos... or best buy....

I give up

After waiting three and a half days I decided to purchase Mountain Lion for $19.99 from the App Store. While waiting for it to download I took the time to write a description of the efforts I went to get my upgrade and filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This was after making two phone calls to Applecare and sending two follow up emails with no response.

I really want to like the post-Jobs Apple, and I want Tim Cook to succeed. He seems like a very genuine guy who wants to do the right thing. But the complete lack of respect shown to all the loyal consumers in this one forum gives me reason to seriously question Apple's future. And it certainly doesn't inspire me to want to buy any of Apple's stock. I hope they learn something from this and find a way to prevent it in the future.

Good luck to the rest of you who continue to wait for you precious code. If you decide to go the same route as me, you can file your complaint at www.bbb.org. It takes less than five minutes to fill out the forms.

Apple employees giving out codes via email must not work weekends, because I have now waited a total of 82 hours since the time I requested ML on Wednesday. Apple is sucking money from people via not sending these codes.. I WILL WAIT THOUGH, EVEN THOUGH I CANT STAND APPLE RIGHT NOW!!

The hiccups may be going away, at least for some. I applied for my code a couple of hours ago. I received the two e-mails from Apple a few minutes later.

I just submitted my 2nd application, so maybe I'll get mine in a couple of minutes like you.. But I have waited like 95 hours so far for the first one..

You guys, what in the world am I doing wrong? Two times now, I have gotten the email stating that "Unfortunately, [apple] cannot process [my] order because of the following:
Receipt was not provided"

It prompts me to reupload the digital photo or scan of my receipt. I've been screen-shotting my online order from my apple account. I click print invoice or whatever it is (I am too tired of this nonsense to actually go look up whatever it says), cmnd-shift-4 it, and upload that screen shot when it asks to upload the picture for proof of purchase. Why can't I do that? I am about 50% sure I threw my original receipt away, so am I completely out of luck? Considering Apple are going all digital, you'd think they wouldn't require such a tedious, behind the times approach to get your GUARANTEED SOFTWARE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS I AM LITERALLY ABOUT TO CRY.

I applied for my Apple UTD codes for 3 new macbook pro's on 7/25/12 and no reply. I re-applied tonight and got all three codes within 2 minutes!

WTF APPLE!!

I've been denied my up-to-date order (after waiting 4 days)

We are unable to process your request for OS X Mountain Lion because of the following:

Purchases must be through an authorized reseller

Are they ****ing stupid? i ordered it from the online apple store. I gave them a screenshot of my invoice, that i got FROM the official online store as well as the order number.

The whole process is pathetic anyway they only accepted images to be uploaded, 'a scan' as they called it, not everyone bought retail products, in fact i'd assume most bought it online.. ok so we'll all print off our invoice and then re-scan it back in.

Also struggling to like post Steve Jobs Apple. Always been a massive fan but lately i'm finding myself more annoyed at them than anything.

It took 75 hours for me. Made the request for two codes around 10am on Wednesday. Called Apple asking about the status of the codes yesterday morning. They said I was already approved and would send the codes within an hour. Five hours later, they were in my inbox.

At 98 hours now and still nothing from Apple; not so much as an email rejecting me or even a response to my Up to Date support emails. Beyond frustrated at this point and thinking of just submitting again. Has anyone else had to wait this long?

I ended up getting two PDF files, and got one password. It didn't work for either one.

Do I have to call them now, to get a new set of emails? I don't like making calls...:(

After 88 hours of waiting, I received my codes at 2:39am ET on Sunday. I submited my first form at around 10:20am ET on Wednesday. Like I really was going to wake up and type them in the Mac App Store at 2:39am?? Apple has really screwed around with these ML codes, and hopefully this never happens again.. I speak for all new Mac customers in that this was not a good sign for times to come with my new MacBook Pro..

Recovery Partition Update

Does anybody know whether there is some way to update the Recovery Partition after upgrading to MS?

Because there is still Lion in the Recovery Partition, so you'll need to download Mountain Lion again if you have to clean reinstall it.

I got the same BS only mine came from best buy.

i sent them the full resolution of the receipt and picture of the box with SN on friday and still nothing in response to the denial.

On wednesday, excited about ML. I went to the Up to Date page expecting to get my new OS.

Had to fill out a stupid form. Ok.. kind of a pain, but understandable.
ANGER LEVEL 0.5

Got to the end of the form and realized I needed a "scan" of my invoice? Why can't they just take my order number and verify that I completed the order? I bought it from the apple online store...
ANGER LEVEL 1.0

Ok Apple.. jumped through your hoops, I should get my code in few hours... by the time I went to bed, no code.
ANGER LEVEL 2.0

Waited 3 days while my friends who did not spend THREE-*****-THOUSAND dollars on a new laptop were happily running ML.
ANGER LEVEL 7.0

GOT A ***** REJECTION LETTER AFTER WAITING 3 DAYS!
ANGER LEVEL 9.0

NOW WAITING AFTER RESUBMITTING FOR 2 MORE DAYS!
ANGER LEVER REACHING CRITICAL!

I just received a second code.. IDK if it works or not but I guess I'll give it to my girlfriend to try since she wanted ML.

i believe that's too extreme, Apple said ML would be available in July, they did not say which day.
