So they haven’t priced their product properly then. Sounds like the price needs to go up for everyone if YouTube can’t cover their costs at the price they are selling at.
The reason why it’s a different price is because of apples 30% inapp purchase charge that’s why.

If they are losing money selling the product at 12.00 then they need to increase the price.
That’s the argument these companies are forced to charge extra on iOS because of 30% inapp purchase. That is why their is a difference in price on the website to being on iOS

And that charge should be built into YouTube’s price, just like the cost of bandwidth, staff and electricity is built into the price. It’s a cost of doing business. At the moment YouTube are trying to separate that cost out and charge customers discriminatory prices instead of building the cost into their model. It makes YouTube look bad.

They should charge everyone more, not just a subset of customers. You don’t see YouTube charging customers in one American state more because of higher electricity prices than in another, so this should be no exception (let’s not give them any ideas on how to screw customers more, like they are doing with iOS users!).

Hence a law to protect consumers from these discriminatory prices might be necessary.

So YouTube for example should charge everyone more because Apple charges 30% in app purchase?
Of course, paying Apple is a business cost to YouTube the same as paying for staff, electricity and bandwidth. That cost should be built into the price that everyone pays. There should be no price discrimination based on where/how the customer wants to purchase the product.

Hence why companies like Spotify are taking Apple to court regarding the 30% inapp purchase charge

But there is because on iOS they would lose money because of the 30% in app purchase charge that’s why

So you want customers everywhere to be over charged for a product just for the sake of apples 30% inapp purchase charge
Not overcharged. Charged the right amount for the product. At the minute YouTube are overcharging iOS customers.

If you are against overcharging you should be advocating for YouTube to charge iOS customers the same as other customers.

And will probably lose because Spotify doesn’t get to decide how much Apple charges, Apple does.
Why do you think they are saying Apple has an unfair advantage with Apple Music because they don’t have to pay the 30% inapp purchase price that’s why

Because of the 30% inapp charge
That is why they are having to charge more on iOS because their product would be valued less.

So that means YouTube haven’t priced their product properly, or are trying to price gouge iOS customers. Either way it’s a YouTube problem to fix.

Why should they make their product cheaper on iOS because of Apple
That’s the issue

Either 12.00 doesn’t cover YouTube’s costs in which case they need to raise the price.

Or 12.00 covers YouTube’s costs and charging 17.00 to iOS customers is price gouging and greedy.

Either way, iOS customers should be charged the same amount as any other customer as it makes YouTube look greedy trying to charge some customers more than others.

Hence why it’s dearer on iOS because of apples 30% inapp purchase charge.
Or the other way to look at it is if Apple dropped even half of that it wouldn’t have to be as much as that in the first place

What really matters is the solution; how we punish YouTube for their price discrimination so that they change their greedy ways. This is why I strongly recommend apps such as Stop the Madness and SponsorBlock

It’s not about being greedy because if for example let’s say Netflix value their product at 15.00 then on their website that’s how much it is & if I subscribe through a tv provider then it’s 15.00 but if they do that on iOS then they would lose money because of apples 30% inapp purchase charge hence why they no longer offer it on iOS but you can through other platforms

Sounds to me like Netflix didn’t price their product properly then. YouTube could follow the same example and not allow customers to sign up in the app. That would be better than their current greedy price discrimination.

I want companies to charge prices based on all of their costs of doing business, and charging everyone the same amount.

Let’s make it fair instead of discriminating against certain customers.

That’s why Netflix no longer offer their product on iOS because of inapp purchases
But offer through other platforms
