Here's a solution for you. Don't buy an iPhone 7. Seriously. Skip a generation and wait until you acquired updated tech to live without a 3.5mm port. Apple is making a stand for progress. And they've decided where the future of audio technology is going to go. It is going to be a lot better. But with any shake up there is going to be some pain.

The iPhone 7 is at the bleeding edge of tech. And it seems that a lot of people need to take a step back from that edge.

I do actually think people should vote with their wallets on this one. If the iPhone 7 sales tank due to this decision, Apple may have to rethink. (Even though I don't like the removal of the headphone jack, I seriously doubt that this would happen in all reality.) - There's plenty of consumers who will buy it regardless, and either won't even know or care.

What if you want to... shock... be sitting in bed, USING the phone while charging and listening to music? Well, Belkin has that adapter...

I embrace the future, so I'll be using AirPods when they're available, but I recognize this won't work for everyone.

Wired earphones in bed are dangerous anyway.... fall asleep wit them in and you wake up with the iPhone on the floor and a tangled mess. Amazing, there's four more options available - traditional speakers plugged into the charging dock, the wireless earbuds, the new stereo speakers, and any Bluetooth speaker system available today. People really are complaining about nothing.

I won't buy iPhone 7 that's for sure.

I saw this and looked in to the dock. Annnd nope. Waaay too many reviews and reports that the lightning port gets loose over time when using the dock regularly.

Disheartening. Very poor, anti-consumerism choice here by Apple to remove the jack. I am hoping there is a never-ending public outcry. If not now, then once the devices are shipped and people see what they are missing. I am charging my phone right now, while headphones are plugged in. I could not use my phone if it were in a dock, as I am right now while making this post. And I don't want an adapter for my adapter, via Belkin.

The 'solutions' suck because the choice sucks. It's really that simple. Bring it back for iPhone 8.

I wouldn't call a 750p screen exactly "bleeding edge" by today's standards...

I've never tried to listen to music while my iPhone is charging, never thought that was so common up until now of course.

Honestly, I personally prefer to keep my iPhone out of hands and out of use while it's charging.
Thought that was the best way to keep the wires from breaking and prevent overheating.

Edit - I cannot think of the restrictiveness knowing that the iPhone is connected to the charger on a wall/port somewhere and having earphones on, it'd require one to just sit around relentlessly and not even move the head too much.
But everyone certainly does have their own preferences so perhaps the future iPhones aren't for those? I mean if it ain't working for you, its best to switch to another no?

I don't think it's that common, this small vocal group. People should read the book, "Who moved my cheese."

Complete and utter fail. All they had to do is include a Lightning cable in the box with a passthrough connector, pretty much identical to what they've already included in the external battery case, like this:

Instead what we got was this:

Yea! Im Also thinking something like this. That little dongly cable thing they did include looks like Its going to break.

Lucky me I can't imagine an scenario where I would need to charge the phone and listen to music with headphones at the same time.

At work I have lousy data/cell coverage and no wifi option so unless I go airplane mode my battery drains at a ridiculous rate. Since airplane mode isn't practical I normally charge my phone while I using headphones. I'm doing it right now. I don't want headphones I have to worry about charging along with my phone during work hours. Nor do I want to spend another $50 more to do what I'm doing now. So the new iPhone 7 is off the radar for me.

Realistically Apple should have already announced their own.

They have a charging dock that has a built-in 3.5mm jack. And they created a marketplace for 3rd-party solutions. Belkin themselves just released a solution, and they stated that they worked closely with Apple. I think that's worthy of mention that Apple is fostering a larger market rather than trying to offer every possible solution themselves.

The Lightning dock will be the perfect solution for those who watch videos in bed at night with headphones on. Simply watch on your portrait-oriented iPhone screen that is sitting 5 feet away on the table.
A lot of pissed off people that don't even own the device ITT.

If you can't live without charging and using connected headphones at the same time, then don't buy it. Move on. Quit wasting your time crying about it.
Yes, don't buy a new iPhone. Simply use iPhone 6 until it stops responding to touches on the screen.

People need to stop saying that we can't be critical of the lack of headphone jack if we don't own an iPhone 7. Knowing what it's like to use an iPhone 7 without the headphone jack is easy. It's called not using the headphone jack on any other iPhone, which many people don't prefer doing.

Or in other words:

"Zaheen, we want to suck as much money out of you as possible. So if you want to listen and charge at the same time, we're going to force you to give us $160 for AirPods, which we should have included in the iPhone 7 box but didn't due to my aforementioned goal to suck as much money out of you as possible.
Alternatively, you can give us $50 more to give you something else we should have included in-box. It's called the Lightning dock."

Hope that helps. (Well, actually I don't, because I want you to keep buying things that we should have included in the first place).

Thanks,
Phil

Well, they did create a new adapter for headphones so they could have made one with double lightning ports to support charging and headphones together.

It's amazing that you overlook very simple solutions.

From Apple:

From Belkin:

... and that's just one day after the phone was announced.

Dear Phil,

We're screwed now that there's no way to charge our phone and listen to music at the same time. What's up with that?

Schiller replies:

Dear disgruntled customer,

We feel your pain. Just kidding! Actually, we feel our vast cash horde growing ever larger. Just buy this overpriced and bulky dock!

You're welcome!
Good time to invest in Apple stock. AAPL is the ticker FYI ;)
