If they design for experience versus cost, then why such crappy DDR3 RAM ... where is the DDR4 used by virtually all new laptops.
What he's saying sounds reasonable but the reality is that none of the new range are affordable. Not for my company, not for my children's schools and this is the first time that the price is so excessive that I have completely written it off. I know they pitch at aspirational marketing but this is simply unachievable.

I could not agree with any comment on here more.
Apple priced themselves out of my home in the future if they keep this up. I simply can't justify this premium for macOS anymore. There has always been an Apple Tax, but it's never been this severe since the G4 Cube.
The market will decide. It will be interesting to see what sales of the new MacBooks Pros have been 1 year from now. Personally, I like the new machine, the Thunderbolt 3/USB C port layout and especially the Touchbar. If the apps integrate as they should i can definitely see an improvement in my workflows. Kind of reminds me of the first time I had a mouse (yeah, I'm that old). Thought that I would never use it but didn't want to be "that guy" that never tries new tech. Needless to say I was a convert. I'm thinking that I'll be a convert to the Touchbar as well.
I believe that this will be a big success for Apple but we'll just have to wait and see.
I understand what he's saying. But, if the price is too high, only a few will buy. I for one won't be picking it up, even though I had planned to do so. I simply cannot justify the price.
This still counts as designing for experience. By using LPDDR3 instead of LPDDR4, they can increase margins and improve the experience for Apple.
So did this event warrant the "hello again" teaser?
And the Apple Tax was justified when there was very, very little available with the same build quality - Macs were a breed apart.
We don't live in that world any more. Microsoft, Dell, and even fricking HP are hitting the same physical quality and "magic specialness".
Hello all ... either Buy it .. or Don't !
You have options model wise
These have never been cheap devices ..
I guarantee many of you are not effected by the things you complain about apple taking away or doing either .
I was going to sell my MacBook Air and iPad to buy this but for the model with discreet graphics... I'm looking at a number upwards of $3,000 -- THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
I'm sorry guys, I simply can't afford your new computer.
dead on! I HATE to jump on the Steve band wagon, but FFS - what kind of Apple releases an iPhone and new MBP in the same year that can't out of the box physically connect to each other!?
That doesn't help the NOW. All of your devices are USB or lightning to usb.
People that troll internet forums
innovative new tech that replaces outdated keyboard real estate and whose context-specific function and customizability will absolutely be useful, but nonetheless doesn't justify the steep price hike.Sorry, but MBP is overpriced. There is nothing groundbreaking and yet the price hike is absurd. The Touch Bar isa gimmick that will not help with productivity at all. It's just flashy for the sake of being flashy.
