I communicate with Android users all the time both with Messages for iOS and macOS without any issues that I can recall. What issues are you running into?

Pictures and videos are compressed to be virtually unrecognizable. Can't start group chats, and have issues staying in a group chat. Can't use facetime. Can't use tapbacks or other iMessage features. I probably missed many more issues.

This is true with all ages. I'm 42 and have had an android for the last 7 years and going to switch because I'm the odd ball in texts and trying to date a girl with an android gives the illusion that I'm poor.

It's funny when they see me driving an amg though lol. But yes this is happening and if I could have I message I would not need to or care to switching.

Personally I think the better question to ask is WHY do you have to reboot after an update, why has this archaic functionality persisted for so many years. Can't a motherboard just have some sort of cache, or the ability to add a small hard drive so Windows (or macOS) doesn't have to reboot? I'm sure it's a LOT more complicated than that, but anything can be fixed with the proper programming, I would have thought that Microsoft and Apple would have addressed this a long time ago.
There is a video somewhere on YouTube by a guy from Microsoft who explains why it is not possible to do a major update without a restart. I think the main reason was that a lot of files that are loaded into Windows can't be changed as long as they are in use. That could make the system unstable.

The problem with Windows updates is that they often introduce features that feel more like bugs to me. It seems Apple tried to copy that recently :)

But it doesn't pan out with my friends (or myself) who use PCs and Android.
My Android friends (and myself) never have issues getting hacked or getting ads.
Windows PC updates are set when I set them to update in settings, maybe learn how to use a PC?
My friends are intelligent and have none of these issues.

You see the issue with anecdotal reports, they don't really mean very much.
Sure. It means a lot to the people having the issues.
Not to me, I switched to Mac a long time ago.
I am glad that there is competition though.
Macs are a lot faster now with more competitive pricing.

See my reply (# 198) to your other post. With the exception of video (which I also have had issues with when sending to iPhone users), I don't have issues with any of these (pictures, group chats--starting or staying in, tapbacks, etc.). FaceTime is a separate app from Messages and is a calling app, not a messaging app, so I don't see that as being in the same category. I have no idea why you're experiencing the other issues when I and others aren't 🤷🏼‍♂️

Tell me about it, Ventura has to be the most bug ridden, frustrating OS I've ever used, and I've been using Windows since the Windows 3 days and DOS. I only use my macbook intermittently for consulting work, but man I hate going on it with a passion.

Why would you not want to appear poor? If you appear poor, you do not have to be worried that she is looking for money.

Actually I swipe women left on Tinder, if they have an iPhone, as I suspect that such a woman can't handle money.

I've use iMessage for a long time. If I were to switch how would I send SMS or RCS from an iPad or computer? I assumed SMS and RCS are sent through the carrier texting protocols not as data. iMessage allows for sending/receiving messages on all of my internet connected devices.

If yer looking for a woman on tinder now we have a whole nother problem :)

"Hello, I know we have been chatting on Tinder for months and we haven't met in person yet but that's because I have been busy earning $10,000 a day on thisisnotascam dot com. I really love you so much but before we meet in person please take a look at the site and deposit your life saving there. You won't be sorry xoxoxoxoxox'

I truly find it hard pressed to believe that Gen Z are so concerned about not having an iPhone, or that they receive pressure that they respond in a way that leans towards obtaining devices on the iOS platform. Seems like a whole bunch of baloney. I'd want to see this Gen Z analysis divided into more granular bits such as demographics, geographic location, and so forth.

Is a CLA45 really an AMG? ;) 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Gen X dumped windows for doing Microsoft things. I doubt gen Z will do the same when apple's time comes, there are easily manipulated by youtubers, influencers, etc.
Looking through your comment history, virtually everything you've ever posted here is negative. Why even bother if you hate Apple this much?

For example the Windows thumbnails are very annoying. Windows does not allow you to choose which thumbnails show a preview of a file. Older versions were not able to show thumbnails of certain RAW files. You had to download an extra package for that. It was free and you could uninstall it all the time. But then with a new Windows update that package was baked into windows and no longer a single file. So suddenly I saw previews for all RAW files, although I did not want that. Those previews are generated much slower than JPEG previews and if I had shot in RAW+JPEG, I suddenly saw two previews of every image. I found some way to get rid of those previews, but it was not an easy task. I had to delete some files as an administrator and rename a file.

Also since one of the last updates Windows no longer was compatible with the old Edge browser. It came with a new version that was full of annoying stuff like news and ads. It no longer had the option to show a really blank start page. For me "blank" means a page with really nothing on it.

Windows 11 comes with a lot more downsides. For example the requirement for a Microsoft account for activation, even if you can get rid of it somehow afterwards. I will avoid switching to Windows 11 until I need it to run hardware that no longer offers Windows 10 drivers.

I never understood why anyone would use What’s App to ext rather than iMessages. Is that outside the US it costs to send a text with iMessage?

No but it used to cost money to send text messages (sms) so people started to use WhatsApp before iMessage was a thing. iMessage only came out when WhatsApp was already widely established and thus people did / do not have the need to switch to iMessage, especially since WhatsApp is also much more feature rich. A lot of businesses use it as well. Also only ~30% people use iPhones in those markets

Maybe it's a difference in hardware, but any pictures I send are almost unrecognizable unless it's like a persons head framed perfectly. Kids sporting events? Forget it. People a few feet away? Maybe if I blur my eyes a bit and use my imagination. These picture resolutions were ok 20 years ago, but they are not acceptable today no matter how you sugar coat it. My biggest gripe has always been my kids sporting events and sharing pictures/ with family. MMS limits, at least in the US, are 300-600kb (varies by carrier) for messages (although some say up to 1024kb anecdotally), go compress your images to that size and get back to me, especially if the subjects in the picture are not close and/or are moving. Videos are MUCH worse, they are virtually unusable.

Tapbacks come out as text, which is horrible and not a workaround. Facetime doesn't work at all obviously. Now I'm not arguing very hard for tapbacks or facetime, although I do feel they are important to the topic and part of what is contributing to the subject of youth popularity and their decision to stay in Apple's walled garden. The group message issue is well known, sometimes they don't sync up or you don't receive group messages.

Even I have a iPhone 7 as a iPod Touch. I'm a Samsung Galaxy fan but both platforms are very good, IMO.

Again, I made no reference to any sort of time frame in my OP.

And I was sinply pointing out that as long as there continues to be branded products being used by young people, this issue will likely exist just as it has in the past. It's not just the "world we live in" (present) but the "world" that has existed for a very long time and will continue to exist in the future. The brands and types of products may change but the potential ostracizing will still be there as it has been for ages.

It’s the Apple ecosystem. I love being inside the blue bubble.

Also, iPhones are the best smartphone out there in the world. It’s simple as that.
As an iPhone user I cannot say that the iPhone is the best smartphone out there. Battery life and cameras compared to Samsung models show that they are superior in those areas. iPhone is more user friendly and much easier to navigate than Samsung.

Well, I admit I'm not on the receiving end for the pictures, but it sure seems like one of my Android friends would've mentioned something by now if the pictures were super blurry on their end. As mentioned, the video issue seems to be a problem with even fellow iPhone users, so that's a Messages issue, imo. As for tapbacks, I'm a bit confused, because I know I've seen the text version of them before, but looking back at some of my conversations with Android users both on macOS and iOS just now, I'm seeing their tapbacks show up as the normal icons attached to the conversation bubble--just like iPhone users' tapbacks. But I honestly don't mind text versions either--as long as it communicates what they did, then I don't see it as "terrible."

Never heard any Gen Z cared that much about iPhone and Android. The most I heard is people wanting the last trend or the last release, but never to the point of ostracizing Android users.

In my country (Italy) even people with iPhones don't use iMessage between them.
This. iMessage adoption is a very regional thing and globally a VERY niche communicator. India alone has more WhatsApp users than US has population.

In every country I ever lived in (that's 5 countries on 3 continents so far, and all outside US) most people only treat the green text icon as a place where spammy SMS messages and OTP codes live. Great majority of people are on WhatsApp. Some on WeChat and even Telegram. Barely anyone using iMessage. Hell, in Colombia (where I live now) even OTPs can come via WhatsApp.

Yarp. The biggest bug I've encountered in Win10 is Edge. I deleted that off my computer when I first installed Win10. A few months later, a Windows update reinstalled Edge, refused to allow me to uninstall or disable Edge. That was a real Welcome To Facebook moment.😠 The forced automatic update that introduced lots of new bugs features is really annoying in Win10/Win11. I wish I could go back to Win7, but I'm having a hard time finding drivers for Win7.😒
