lol. The number of people hating on an option they do not have to purchase is absurd.

Options are good.
But I do want to purchase and would purchase a worthy iPhone, I just can't take Apple anymore. Sold my X last week and my 7 a couple days ago (which was being sold regardless, hoped for X to replace it). Replaced with the S8 and happy...for now. Strongly disagree with Apple's design choices (current and rumored future), and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I stumbled on over here looking up the article on ATV finally supporting Amazon video, my only remaining Apple device.

I’m sure you’ll be very happy with Android and their lack of updates, support, and customer service.

I'm hoping they don't make features exclusive to the largest phone. I much prefer the size of X to the Pluses I've owned. I don't want to upsize my phone again to get a better camera or something of that nature.
OH they will. I'll put money on it. When is the last time they had sizes have the same internals? Last I checked, never.

At least android is honest about updates that actually work. With Apple you can only go one or maybe two iOS version upgrades before anything more will kill your phone.

I can't believe some think glass rear is the more premium over metal rear. Since when? Since Samsung started selling us the Galaxy S6 edge with that bs cosmetic gimmick called dual curved displays. A design we all got sick and tired of like what will happen to this X design by 2019 or any design for that matter.

The metal rear is now the lower cost iPhone. Unreal. I will never forget all the cracked rears of the iPhone 4 series and the Nexus 4. I had a buddy who had a 4s. A waist high drop and the rear was shattered. I don't care about glass rear being less slippery than metal or it has wireless charging. I will always pick metal or even matte plastic over glass.

Hoping Apple hasn't abandoned the "metal fans" " just yet. Metal for the lower priced iPhone while glass sandwich for the higher priced OLED iPhones with a higher repair bill.

What's up with manufacturers creating endlessly larger phones like they're suffering from small penis envy? Just make my iPhone SE X now! :D

If I got a dirty mind then I would have read the last sentence very differently...

Back on topic, if the rumor is true, how do they implement Qi wireless charging with the metal case?

No Apple will not! Not when I pay full retail for the X! I hope Apple increase the price in 2018 model!
I think the 6.5 will be higher but the 5.8 should come down. My guess:

$749 iPhone 9 - 6.1” LCD
$849 iPhone X - this year’s model
$949 iPhone X.2 - the 5.8 2018 X
$1099 iPhone X.2 Plus- the 6.5 2018 X

Other guesses for 2018: with the possible exception of storage configs, feature parity between the 5.8 and 6.5 models; maybe 128GB minimum if NVRAM supply constraints are resolved (only on the Plus?); 512GB availability, but nlt 2019 in any case.

I hope that Apple will not take Samsung route making a 6.1” and another one with 6.2”
Either 6.5” or nothing

SE X = March, 2020

The SE2 will look like a smaller iPhone 8 with 7 specs. Apple will not undercut their 7 & 8 series.

By March 2020, the X design will get so tiresome, some would stop caring if the SE3 looks like it or not.

6.5" iPhone = same height as Note8

6.1" iPhone = same height as S7 edge or Note7

5.8" iPhone = same as current one at 143-144 mm

This LCD iPhone will be the first and only one of 2018 that is based on the X-front that could offer a metal back.

Blame Samsung for the X markup and blame Apple for making recipes but not knowing how to cook it themselves. That OLED is the main reason why prices went up and to recoup some of the R&D expenses for Face ID.

I'm really not even into iOS and Apple needs to make some drastic changes with iOS' Control Center and tethering to make me go back to iPhone as a daily driver. My main qualms with iPhone X has been software.

I'll probably go with the Pixel 3 next year and stay on that product line for as long as I can the same way people annually upgrade to the newest iPhone. But for my money, the 6.1" iPhone if it retains the SoC of the OLED ones is the one to get.

Glass rears = fragile

Not paying $1000+ for fragility and an overrated OLED tech and wireless charging that have been around for many years now.

I am also tempted by the 6.1 LCD version of the X. It being powered by the A21 instead of A12 won't bother me as I don't play games. Chrome, Instagram, Gmail, LinkedIn and Facebook will run the same on both chops.

I am more interested in pricing. Will the 6.1 LCD come in around $650 like they have for years? Or have we abandoned the idea of an iphone costing under $1k after taxes?

Yes! I still want touch ID though...

Tempted to upgrade to the 4.7" model but it's battery life has been awful ever since this model/size was released. Hope they won't screw the SE's update.

Is it even possible to manufacture a rounded display like the iPhone X with LCD technology? I doubt these rumours

In March we may see a new iPhone SE that will have a new form factor resembling the iPhone X, and a larger display, but the physical size similar to the current SE. It will be metal and LCD. It will likely have an A11 Bionic and Face ID. The 6.1 inch may be the iPhone SE Plus. It will also be metal and LCD, and also have the A11. These two phones will be the “budget” phones. The iPhone X2 will be similar to the X, but with enhancements and an A12. There will also be an X2 Plus. So the line up will be two SEs and two X2s. The 8 may be discontinued.

Bigger phones sell more than smaller ones.

What good small options are there with the features/specs of the current larger models? It's not really a level playing field is it? I know more people holding on to smaller, older iPhones than buying the newer, larger models - because they simply don't want big phones.

why they don't make another one with ceramic back iPhone edition, to push the price to $3000 range?
Yeah, I think Apple should should push it further to £5k.

One day maybe Apple could include a massive notch that covers almost the entire screen (for the perfect Animoji and Face ID gen 2) that it would look like the phone has two screens and charge us £10k. I guarantee it will be the most successful phone, and that will be shown in sales. Oh, don’t forget offering in different colours - it will be revolutionary.

And if that happens the new SE will be my next phone. :) I prefer using my phone one-handed without having to awkwardly shuffle it around to reach corners, the X being larger than the 6/7/8 is the main reason I didn't "upgrade" to it.

Why does no one at Apple listen to you? :( You have a great idea.

I think many people want this, the main problem with smaller phones is smaller screens - in all other areas of practicality and usability they're better than large phones (people forget we don't all use them as iPads), the X would have been great as a slightly smaller device than the 7 with a larger screen area, it would have made much more sense as a "best of all worlds" and more forward looking than just going larger again... At some point it becomes just an iPad mini if you go that route.
