The problem is 90% of Android phones are ****. If all Android phones were the top-of-the-line like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Nexus 5, Moto X, HTC One X we would be having a different conversation.
I agree;)

Wow, how unfortunate can some ppl be, multiple shutdowns and dropped calls over several handsets in the course of a 90min journey. This is either the worst case of technology not working EVER.... Or do I detect someone is trying to garner favour among fellow posters... If anyone actually believes this BS. Well.... I'm speechless...

BS?? There is a 8 mile stretch between towers N of Port Ritchie and south of
Brooksville with one bar of strength, their phones always conk out, yet my iphone (AT&T) can still get a call out. 3 AT&T Androids can't, same for Verizion.
Son Im 66, (garner favor?) I assure you I could care less about trying to impress your ass:eek:

So now it's just losing signal.. before it was multiple handsets shutting down on regular occasions like some weird bermuda triangle .. yep.. total BS. Fella.. you're too old to be a fanboy, and secondly how much more could you care less about impressing my ass?.. a little bit or a lot more?.... If you're gonna sign off with a "quip", tell me what you mean.... I'm going to guess that you COULDN'T care less..
Before the mods get their knickers in a.twist I'm merely trying to establish how much more or less this gentleman cares about my ass?.

you are correct, its just about losing signal, but also listening to thier gripes that are forthcoming after losing a connection, I didnt explain it well enough, and you are right,no ass involved, I couldn't care less about impressing anyone:cool:

The only threat that was ever posed by Android, is that of ruining Google's reputation. Do you seriously think Apple are "scared" of Google? Aware, and in a business sense concerned yes... but "fear" is just beyond laughable; just consider the competition... they have NO idea about product design and persistence.

Do you think Van Gogh was fearful of toddlers with crayons?

Exactly. Apple has nothing to fear. They have $150 billion in the bank, they are making the most profits, have the most valuable consumer brand, best mindshare and so on. Everyone else has been playing catchup for the last 4-5 years with no avail.

I bet thats what Blackberry and Nokia used to say.

There are those that believe Apple never responds to what customers want or what the competition is doing. Spin that however you want - this forum has several of these types of people. So while this memo isn't "much" - it pretty much rocks their world.

You don't have access to other people's worlds, where are those people whose worlds are rocked. It's the product of your imagination, if anything it seems to have rocked your world more than others, let's see who's active here.

I'm glad Apple is worried about its competitors. Last thing we need is for Apple to become complacent and rest on it laurels.

Competition is great for the consumer in the end.

I agree, yet Apple may have waited too long already. An example of that is the way they wasted all of 2013, profit taking with warmed over minor upgrades. A disappointing move from such a great company.

They know that they can milk their customers, but for how many years?

Being active in a thread has nothing to do with whether or not this memo "rocked" me at all. We're all entitled to our opinion - and my observation over the last several years is that there are members here who are likely conflicted with this memo having been released. At least one member here said that they were disturbed. Their words. Not mine and not my imagination.

It gives an indication of who actually cares at all, yes, unlike your own statement which is based on nothing but your imagination.

Once again your logic is wrong. Last post to you on this because you clearly don't understand the difference between caring about the content of the memo vs the commentary on this thread. Have a nice day.

Why is everyone so sarcastic and full of themselves? Can't we all just talk in a CIVIL way? Would you be like this if you were all sitting together drinking coffee and talking? Cowardess and pride - two very ugly traits.

I know it's hard to overcome one's ego when one has SOOO many "right" views, but can we just... try?

I'd put my money on a Motorola over the iPhone in any weak signal area. iPhones have never been noted for strong rf performance. :)

I do think that Apple is worried about Google. :)

The most advanced PC ever came out in 2013 - the new Mac Pro. That is not Apple resting on laurels. Oh and the first 64-bit ARM processor in a consumer product. TouchID. Beacons. Apple is not only NOT resting, they are accelerating in innovations.

Advanced because of it's shape? If it had the exact same performance and features in a conventional case, it probably wouldn't have created much attention at all.

I agree.

Apple don't need a babbling bunch of consumers defending them or justifying why their customers bought their products, what they have/are "done/doing wrong" etc.

Consumers are blithering idiots most of the time - people will walk into "Poundland" ("Dollar world"?) and buy some throwaway plastic ornament that - ten minutes before, they didn't know existed, JUST because it "looks nice".

Apple keep schtum, and they get their products FINISHED. They don't care about outside demands from consumers and their fickle, ever-changing "tastes" or desires... Apple know their game, you DO NOT - you're not working for Apple's R&D dept, nor could you dare to assume you know what's coming up next - NOONE knows.

The Mac Pro is an engineering marvel. It's to be appreciated on it's own terms. To say it's just a iteration on the previous Mac Pro is a mistake. It's an entirely new product.

Dude - do you even stop for a breath? My comment was pro-Apple.

Sorry - that was meant to be a reply to the thread, not a quote; please accept my apology - it wasn't aimed at you :)

PS - +1 on your Mac Pro comment :)

I agree, it is an engineering marvel. But maybe more on the side of engineering for engineering's sake? I didn't say it was an iteration of the previous Mac Pro. I said if it had the same exact specs and performance as it does now only it was in a conventional case, the buzz would have be next to nothing, IMO.

One core heatsink, one huge (silent, almost) fan - doesn't seem to be just for the sake of engineering, but then maybe it was... but that's how Apple iterate and refine, by experimenting with beautiful but also elegant designs, and we're the guinea pigs, to some degree. That design is SO obvious and elegant, if I were a competing company I can imagine I'd be thinking "Why didn't WE see that?" Anyway, even if it IS engineering just for it's own sake - which I don't agree that it is, Apple is an engineering company - that's what they do best, and they engineer elegance like no other in the digital realm :)

Exactly. Apple engineers around an aesthetic. That's just how they roll.
