My 2 Cents

I own an Airport Shuttle business, my customers are divided between the Apple Ecosystem, and various flavors of Android.
They Know I'm an :apple: guy, and they are always up talking Android, in the course of the hour and a half ride, they drop connections, experience shutdowns,
begin complaining about customer service, various un working aspects of the phone.About 15 times a month, when they need to make must have calls, I have given them my iPhone 5S to use, use my iPhone as a hot spot, all the way to the
TPA International Airport.
Every Laptop, tablet hooks seamlessly, I guess my point is to each their own, but more are impressed by MY PHONE, than I am by theirs

Wow, how unfortunate can some ppl be, multiple shutdowns and dropped calls over several handsets in the course of a 90min journey. This is either the worst case of technology not working EVER.... Or do I detect someone is trying to garner favour among fellow posters... If anyone actually believes this BS. Well.... I'm speechless...

But so what, let's just assume for arguments sake that Android is stolen from iOS. That doesn't hinder Android from adding features to the fundamental common core, (that is stolen), over a number of years.

Just like it hasn't hindered Apple from adding improvements to ideas and products that others created before them. I'm not a conspiracy theorist that thinks that everything Samsung, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony, Motorola, HTC, Nokia, LG, etc, etc does is copying Apple or in direct response to what Apple may do or what was posted at MacRumors. But that's just me. The email gives some insight to the internal workings at Apple and Steve's thought process and obsessions.

The problem is 90% of Android phones are ****. If all Android phones were the top-of-the-line like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Nexus 5, Moto X, HTC One X we would be having a different conversation.

It's just another false fanboy conspiracy to discredit Apple. Your crusade is a waste of time.

No crusade at all. The email is what it is. Sorry it bothers you. :) I don't recall insulting you either.

Cool story. Forgive my skepticism.

Do you really think working folk making regular flight trips have 20 dollar handsets... They will no doubt have work phones, more than likely mid to high end.. this is just the most ridiculous story I've ever heard... There's o obviously self esteem issues with the OP, he's trying to make friends by telling the group what they want to hear...
on a side note.. even cheap phones actually.work.. they may have slow cpus, low res screens and poor cameras but they still work... If they didn't ud be back to the shop for a replacement....not putting up with unusable handsets....week in week out.. I think the OP gets a gold star for the most. Non believe able story on MR ever lol

I think this site is overrun with Android fans and users that aren't happy with the fact that Apple has a different model in terms of screen size offerings and OS openness.

Apple uses the walled garden approach. If you want open platform stick with your Androids and be happy with that. Stop telling this forum how much you'd prefer Apple was like Android OS and Samsung phones. Just stick to your choice and be happy with that

Some of us prefer Apple because it's NOT everyone else.

The physical button is necessary for those (admittedly rare) occasions when a hard reset is required.

What's wrong with android fans being part of this site?? I have for years already used the combination macbook, ipad and android phone. Most of the people I know also use this combination, where I live {South Africa} our devices arn't subsidized and apple pretty much prices themselves out of the phone market.

This site is Macrumors.com not "all my products are apple.com"

Well, clearly!! Their products are being sold in a numbers that their competition can only dream about! So yeah.... Apple is struggling.

who cares about numbers..i'm talking about overall...in all aspects of the product...financially, sales...whatever...quality...so on...it's down to pothole...it is what it is...i'm assuming people are getting tired of the same crap.

....to make more iPhones.

to get some sales.

i don't think apple will make a cheap iphone. apple has never been about making cheap. apple has always been about making the best for its time, and making it look as if it is cheap for what they get. look at iphone, pay 200 euro and get it for free, the rest is just 40 euro monthly service.

I went from an iPhone 4s to a Samsung Note 3.

If the iPhone 6 has a 5.7in screen like the Note 3 I still wouldn't come back.

You can't customise iOS enough to make a larger screen useful.

Android has its faults but iOS is too limited.

Why even mention this, it's a ridiculous proposition. It also has nothing to do with this email.

The email gives some insight to the internal workings at Apple and Steve's thought process and obsessions.

But everything (almost) in that email is old news, the future products discussed are already announced, everyone knows that notification and tethering was present on Android before iOS. It's easy to show without these emails, so what is it you find so fascinating. It's hardly surprising that they discuss future products and keep an eye on what the competition is doing.

There are those that believe Apple never responds to what customers want or what the competition is doing. Spin that however you want - this forum has several of these types of people. So while this memo isn't "much" - it pretty much rocks their world. In fact, a few people even said that they were "disturbed" by the fact that Steve wrote about keeping people stuck in Apple's ecosystem. As if this wasn't/isn't the goal of any company with an ecosystem. Yet some were "disturbed" to see it in print.

I read this forum almost everyday hence I have my opinions about what I see many here posting about this subject matter. Just reading the two threads concerning the email is enough to see it's effect on some who post here. And I think that many here didn't acknowledge that Android had these features first and did have some advantages over iOS. And it has been stated here so many times that Apple could care less about the completion, etc, etc. Now this is proof from the founders mouth.

Unless of course you venture onto a college campus. I get an email from my university book store at least twice a week pushing Samsung gear. But iPhones still out number everything else 3:1

Check out the statistic for the older crowd. (FYI..this is a chart from last year)

http://www.marketingprofs.com/chart...e-and-android-ownership-varies-by-demographic

Looks like 18-25 leans toward Android, but College does lean iPhone by 9%.

Oh yeah! I saw that commercial too!

I didn't. It was observation. I would like to see the commercial though if you could include a link.

You're just giving Arn more page hits and lining his pockets. Trolling doesn't bother me. The more hated Apple is, the better they seem to do anyway.

Who's trolling? I stated my opinion about the email. You're the one throwing the insults.

This email was written at the height of Job's all out war against Android. He claimed Android was a stolen OS, yet was acknowledging it had iOS beat in important areas. Steve and Apple were famous for taking someone else's idea and improving on it as I've read here a few thousand times. So when Google does the same thing, it's a foul. I think it is embarrassing. It won't hurt Apple at all, but I'll bet it opened the eyes of some of it's most ardent followers here and on other Apple sites.

Actually, it was written two years after that. It wasn't surprising to me at all, and I guess you could call me an "ardent follower". Also, you may want to pay close attention to what was "copied" vs. leapfrogged.

And what are you, the freaking fanboy police? Absurd.

I'd be interested in seeing where this was two years after the war against Google. I was under the impression that Jobs went to his death bed vowing to spend every penny Apple had to destroy Android. I didn't know that he changed his mind about that. It seems to me that when you take someone else's idea and go it one better, you are still copying since you didn't implement it first. This email shows me that Steve was concerned about catching up in a few key areas.

what's your obsession with hating Apple and Steve Jobs? The dude is dead, let it go...

This is the ongoing reality I think! Android users increasing rapidly worldwide for lower price but HD capable china phones. In our country we saw iPhone as luxury product which we can't afford otherwise to take advantages of latest network like 3G/4G our people are moving to android without any confusion.

what's your obsession with hating Apple and Steve Jobs? The dude is dead, let it go...

How is stating what the man said hating him? How is commenting on something he wrote hating on Apple? I just read what he wrote and said.

Not everyone needs high-end smartphones.

Android has been designed from the ground up with flexibility in mind, so why should it have not gained market share from the low-end market?

..and I thought all Apple was out to 'make the best products''

Where did that line fail ? Now, its more of a competition, if other people get worried over a competitor that they may loose the race.

So what ?

Just because more people may want to go with Android, doesn't mean Apple must try and beat them to get as many people..

People think for themselves, why make people go with Apple if, just because, a unique feature is better ? I choose Apple because I wanted to, the software was good and clean..

You people who prefer bigger screen need to open your eyes.

BIG SCREEN is a subjective feature. Just because a phone has a smaller screen doesn't mean it's not "innovative" or "behind" by any mean. It's just an opinion, your own opinion. That's all there is too it.

I don't want a big screen. So, a phone with a big screen is not innovative for me and is behind the smaller screen. So who's right and who's wrong? Nobody. It's just an opinion. So stop treating bigger screen as "innovation" or "better" or "ahead".

Sheesshhh.

Until Apple comes with a bigger screen, than it is innovative and is the best screen Apple has ever released on a iPhone.

Something like that?

Sheesshhh.
