Yeah no. Until Apple gets rid of its asinine privacy policy and stops neutering Siri then maybe this will be useful for more than just "Set a reminder" commands.

I'll take an Echo over this any day.

I think it would have to have a complete overhaul. Siri is crap, if not fixed, this would need a screen for all the lookups Siri does just to not answer simple questions like my Echo does. Would it fit better in our Apple environment, sure, but without massive 3rd party .API's and a more open environment (IFTTT, smart home, etc.) this is bound to be a completely overpriced Airplay speaker.

If it is (also) a homekit hub, so that I don't need to have an apple tv, I'll consider it.

Before Alexa and the Google thing, I was sure Apple would add this ability to the Apple TV. It's been a long time coming, but hey, It's never been something I personally clamored for anyway.

if this thing has wifi on it, I'm all in....that is if the price of reasonable.

I'm definitely interested. I know Apple charges a premium for their products, but hopefully this unit won't be to far over the competitor prices. I look forward most to see how this would integrate with my other Apple products.

I do question if this would actually launch during WWDC with how Apple has primarily abandoned hardware during that time frame.

Um, okay. Why not just give Apple TV the same capability? And let it play music on your stereo system?

And will it let you order stuff on Amazon Prime? Or, better yet, let your 'friends' order three tons of creamed corn on Amazon Prime?

Please Apple, don't release any Siri hardware without fixing the software first.

Siri works just fine for millions of people. (Sarcasm)Also according to the genius on here apple never announces hardware at WWDC(/Sarcasm)

I imagine it will be previewed at WWDC to allow developers to incorporate its capabilities before being launched in autumn. Will be interesting to see Apple's take on this sort of device.

I've been thinking about this for years.
I see in maybe a couple of years at most, where Predator-type drones police your community and stitch together a real-time picture of your city. When an emergency call comes in, a light comes up on a map and emergency responders get a real-time look at what's going on in the ground and send responders with a better idea of what's going on.
It should be far more cost-effective than swarms of cops in cop cars and payroll and workers comp and insurance and lawsuits.

They may just ANNOUNCE it though and stop the bleeding to the Echo and launch it later down the road.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe they announced the first iPad long before it actually launched. The first iPhone as well.

I miss the days when Apple actually innovated and wasn't just a "me too" company.
When has Apple ever been first to introduce a new product? They typically take a wait and see approach. Smart phones, Tablets, Watches, cloud computing. You make it sound like Apple blew it with the smart speaker market - which is in it's infancy right now.

Good point. It very well could be demoed along side the demo of iOS/Watch OS//Mac OS and that does make sense it could launch in the Fall.

Right. Which is why I question the launch overall. And don't forget about Google Home, the Echo is NOT the only contender in home automation/smart speakers.
