The control Center version does have 10 second skip buttons. The Control Center version lacks 10-second skip buttons, as well as what others have mentioned. It's definitely a step down using the Control Center version, and I've never really liked it.
What about devices running iOS versions older than 12?
Same here. I use the remote from my watch all the time. Seems like not many people care about this use case. I will miss it as well.I may have missed it, but does anyone else here use the remote app on the watch?? I have it as a watch complication and use it all the time! Its for basic stuff, but works really well... I'll miss that
This isn't tied to the downloaded app, it's part of watchOS. You will still be able to control the TV from the watch like always. I haven't downloaded the actual remote app in a long time and have been able to control the TV just fine.Same here. I use the remote from my watch all the time. That's strange because I almost exclusively use my phone as well and I've never had the control center have an issue. But I've also not used the remote app in years and don't even remember if I have it installed. We control our Apple TV exclusively with our phones and the control centre remote loses connection half the time.
The app is much better (for whatever reason) - never disconnects randomly and works fine
they need to put volume control on the app, or maybe i just can't find it 😑
I am talking about the one in Shortcuts on the phone. There is no volume option. You mean like we have already in Control Center? (It's greyed out as I wasn't playing anything).

Holy crap Thanks, never knew that.If your speakers or TV have CEC, then you just use the iPhone's volume controls when the app is open to turn up and down the volume.
Works fine with my 3rd GenBut that only works on the AppleTV 4 and 5, right? For the earlier Apple TV models we would still need the app, yeah?

Because making things difficult is a hobby for some people. Why use shortcuts, when the Control Center has all the controls you need. The volume control in there will control speakers/tv via CEC.
Uh... The app existed way before Control Center was even on the drawing board 😅LOL this is the most redundant app that Apple ever created. Since its launch I’ve always thought the same thing.
I can access Apple TV remote from my control center, why would Apple make another app that works the same?🤪
Apple should improve the Control Center remote instead of creating another app to fill my homescreen (or App library)
No, Control Center does not work with my slim AppleTV - only the app worksNo, it works also for the earlier Apple TV models.
Yes, I use this all the time when I’m in bed winding down and need to make a quick channel change or whatever. Do we know they’re getting rid of the Watch app though, since phone and watch apps can be independent now?I may have missed it, but does anyone else here use the remote app on the watch?? I have it as a watch complication and use it all the time! Its for basic stuff, but works really well... I'll miss that
I was hoping for a widget too. Vizio TV remote has a today view widget and it’s awesome.A shame, as I was hoping that the remote app would gain a widget at some point.
The physical remote is useless as it is either too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Easily Apple’s worst piece of technology released, although I’m not hearing great things about MagSafe.

Yes, I do enjoy watching the world burn from time to time ha!Because making things difficult is a hobby for some people.
I’ve never seen that text before and I’ve been using the remote app from the early days with the Apple TV 2 and whenever they added Notification Center several years ago. Might be an issue with your router or maybe faulty Apple TV hardware? Maybe some weird handoff settings? Idk, weird. I use Netflix all the time but rarely use Amazon Prime.Yeah, it is very strange. Not sure if it is app specific (Netflix, Amazon Prime) but often it will say looking for TV or something similar on the remote.
I would take the disconnects over having to use the actual remote though.
