It can charge up to 3 devices at once. There aren't any other charging mats on the market that can charge even 2, much less 3.

So yes, it is the Ferrari of mats.

It's not just a Qi mat. It can charge 3 devices at once. Please point us all to another mat that can do that. Or point us to one that can even do 2 at once.

Don't be ridiculous. Mats for charging multiple devices are ubiquitous. Here is one for $10: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...zUvIORIBDdySHBVxC9kaAmcVEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

That's exactly what I love about Apple ecosystem. I am guaranteed that I will pay way more for everything in this ecosystem than in any other ecosystem.

Only if you like overpaying. Plenty of excellent 3rd party accessories out there at reasonable prices.

Please show my an Apple mat that can do that right now. Right now there is no market for a 3 device mat because up until now it was mostly just Android phones. Soon it will be iPhones, AirPods (with Qi case), AW. The need will then exist and the market will respond. Qi is a standard after all. Doesn't take much to add a few more coils to a pad.

There already exist 3 coil Qi pads, just not big enough for three devices. And they won't be anywhere near $199. Not even $99. Apple is just selling it's name here, nothing more. It's nothing like Ferrari unless you are talking about a Ferrari branded Mr. Coffee.

3 coil has nothing to do with charging multiple devices. All 3 coil does it make it easier to have charging coverage across a larger surface area, rather than having to place the device in a very specific spot.

I highly suggest you buy one of those other options. Even if this mat was $50 you'd still complain about the price and buy something else. It'd obviously simply not for you. Not every product is right for everyone but it's a pretty sad waste of our lives to spend time dwelling and complaining about those that don't match our needs.

Guys - they're not going to get to a trillion dollars by being nice guys...help them out like good Apple fanboys!

And yet it’s the biggest, most popular, most secure ecosystem on the planet. Maybe you should consider joining it some day.

With 6% market share in computers and 16% in mobile devices, are you sure it's the biggest ecosystem? Besides, other ecosystems are not as closed so one can assemble the ecosystem of t his choosing.

No, see, that's how little you know me and how quick you are to jump to erroneous conclusions. If it were $50 that would be quite reasonable. I'd buy it easily. But I'm not going to buy anything at any price only because it has an Apple logo on it. I'm discerning that way. If something doesn't offer me the utility it's priced at I'm not going to buy it no matter what kind of logo is on it.

So Best Buy charges $100 over MSRP on an iphone X, and everyone loses their mind. But Apple charges 2-3 more for a charger and no one bats an eye...LOL got it.

Not to mention the iPhone scalpers. But like you say, for some here it's OK and desirable for Apple to have scalper prices for it's own $79 charger. That is the sign of quality.

Dude, you are shopping wrong!

For top-shelf MFI cables at an amazing price without compromise in quality there is only one place to go:
Monoprice (and definitely not Apple).

Check the Luxe series and you will not be disappointed.

Yea, i dont buy Apple cables either. But even at Monoprice you are looking at almost $7 per cable. My issue is that people keep talking about the charging pad as if the time not spent plugging it in is the only benefit, and its not. If my wife and i have three devices sitting there charging, thats three different cables we dont have to have. And since they tend to go bad on us every 3-4 months, that starts to add up fast. And then there is having a lot less clutter.. we dont need three charging blocks/cables plugged into the wall with cables all over. Much simpler.
And the best part of all is since this is an open standard, we dont need to go Apple.
P.S. Macally keyboards suck. My space bar/key is gone amuck.

I'm sorry, i dont see where they are charging 2-3 times more. Can you please provide a link to their pricing?

Just because it charges 3 devices doesn't make it Ferrari. A ferrari does not come with a good ol' toyota engine. It comes with its own custom engine. Point is, it's still a freaking Qi charger. No new patent or technological innovation there. Even if i buy 3 chargers and place them side by side, that's still 75$ cost. So, no it ain't no Ferrari. It's a mat with 3 chargers. Big deal.

Then don't buy it. Go on with life. But why waste your time complaining about something your complaints will have zero impact on? It won't cause Apple to suddenly drop their price.

You're getting upset about the questionable claims of a single random guess.

I hear the next iPhone X2 will cost $5478095428032840932. OMG I'M SO UPSET! THERE'S NO WAY THEY'LL SELL!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS APPLE THINKIN!?!?!? THEY'RE SO DOOMED!!!!!!!

You didn't bother listening to the Keynote. Apple is actually looking to change the Qi standard to implement their setup. So it will have a different "engine" than the other offerings currently on the market.

You are hilarious. All my posts in this thread have said I won't buy it at $199. But I have as much right as you to comment in this thread to the initial news and to other posters. Isn't that what a forum is about? Or is this suppose to be an echo chamber? Is rational conversation that impossible these days? You don't have to agree with me. I don't have to agree with you. Not sure why you need to scream though. You are the one that seems a bit frustrated with your all caps there.

I'd say the planet is a bigger and more popular ecosystem than Apple's, but you've got me on most secure. I swear, if it weren't for Apple's stance on privacy I'd jump ship, but I appreciate their policies very much and will continue to tolerate the watchband/keyboard/faceID/animoji idiocy as a result.

$999 iPhone X

$159 AirPods
$69 AirPods Wireless Charging Case

$199 AirPower Wireless Charging Mat
$49 29W USB-C Power Adapter
$25 USB-C to Lightning Cable (1m)
$35 USB-C to Lightning Cable (2m)

I think I only buy a 1 meter cable and leave the rest in the Apple Store, I mean Apple Town Square.

Wait, the article says the pad only charges the Apple Watch Series 3. Surely it can charge previous generations?
