The notification banner doesn't scale the apple down, it overlays the app for the time its shown.

But yeah I assume it will be easy for certain apps with a top bar and bottom bar (as a lot are) and a central information field to scale easily to a longer screen

Ah! Yeah! Sorry. I guess my thoughts on Notifications Center probably come from speculation I read before it actually came to iOS. :S Still... I think it could be part of the message: many apps will stretch to fill the screen without any extra work for the developer.

Apple knows all to well that this is just the kind of thing that gets all the fanboys wet and excited. It's truly an interesting phenomenon to watch.

249 posts and counting.
Agreed, so odd to see this excitement on a forum dedicated to all things Apple.

People are getting excited by a bunch of stretched icons now. Whatever next.

Whatever next? Like you need to ask!

Okay; we get worked into a froth over blurry photos of cardboard boxes, in elevators! That's what! It's what we do here! Study your history.

Geez, how I love this time of year. :D

No wayyyyy really? A taller iPhone? Wow! And you figured that only by looking at the wall? Nothing else? Ok well then that cements it. The trusty ole promo on the wall finally solved the mystery on what the phone will look like. Congrats. You wasted 4 hours figuring out that omega code when the rest of us knew months ago. Let's give a round of applause for the genius who figured out what the iPhone 5 finally looks like!!!!!

Here's my take on it.
Left to right:

Passbook
Music
Game Center
iTunes
Either Mail or Stocks
Either Messages or Phone
Music
Game Center
Safari

My take. Just a colorful banner. And the duper compressed similarity to icons is just ironic.

Just a banner guys. Just. A. Banner.

Can anyone give examples of prior events where the banners have hidden meanings that turned out to be correct? People talk about it endlessly until the event and then everyone forgets about it.

Maybe, just maybe.... a hotdog is a just a hotdog, a tunnel is just a tunnel, and an Apple wallpaper is just colors made out of apps.

Since left it upside down and right side is side up I hope this is a very small clue to 3D on iPhone u know like 3d glasses each lens is distorted so that we get 3D effect

the iPod shuffle is being dumped for the current iPod nano.

The 'new' iPod nano is actually the iPhone nano.

Phone
Contacts
Messages
Notifications
Wifi for iTunes match/purchase access in music only
Nike app
Radio

No external speaker or mic. You have to use a wired set or bt.

Message composition will be by dictation only owing to the lack of space for a keyboard.

There will also be a 'dummy' model that is useable only in sync with a full phone. It's Apple's answer to the Pebble etc. you can see notifications etc from your iPhone.

I'd love to get an iphone Nano for my mom.

But I'd really love to use the Nano as a 'pebble-like' watch.

The New iPhone will definitely be taller, but the stretched icons on that image don't hint at it. Because yeah... the icons on the New iPhone will not be stretched.

Stretched icons...

Icons stretched up/down, as shown in the main banner, could indicate a taller iPhone (which would be no surprise). And icons stretched left/right (as they seem to be in other images) could indicate speed (i.e., the expected 4G LTE iPhone).

The stretched icons are a little cheezy, tho. Not to sound like a fanboy, but I wonder if He would've approved them.

Rather than a new ITunes, I'd rather see it go away entirely. Replace it with Music, Videos, and iTunes Store apps, just like iOS. Managing your iOS device would be done in the finder.

I don't think theyll ever do that, though, because they need one app for Windows.

And have iOS and Mac apps in the same place — simply, the App Store.

The green icon that roosternugget had as a question mark is either Messages or Phone app.

For the iPad 3 event on March 7 this year, the Yerba Buena banner had a concealed image of the multi-colored eye Apple uses to promote the Retina display: http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/apple-march-7-yerba-buena.jpg

In short, they were hinting at the announcement of a retina iPad.
