wow.

my parents used to tell me in the 70's i was wasting my time listening to my records (albums) backwards to find hidden messages. it all part of the same government coverup. first the messages, now the icons, then the food supply.

they are probably reading this even as i type it...

Rather than stretched, the icons could be warping, as in Warp Speed, aka 4G LTE.

IMO, the "stretched" icons seem more like a reference to download speed and the likely 4G LTE capability, rather than the taller screen. It's the more direct metaphor...speed blur.

Came here to say just this! I think Apple will really tout the iPhone 5 for it's 4G LTE connectivity. I do think they also are emphasizing the iPhone 5's taller screen.

People are reading WAY too much into this - its just a banner. PERIOD. No hidden message, No hidden meaning. *waits for a barrage of abuse*

As someone who's studying Visual Communication Design, you're an idiot.

This sounds rather silly for Apple to do. Only the Apple fanbois will even know this exists. And these fanbois will be all like "shutup and take my money" I want an iPhone 5 now.

The real ones Apple needs to convince, those media types not convinced about the iPhone and the passers by in the street just won't get this. And they'll only see a white Apple on a multicoloured background.

This is Apple geeking out.

The blue icon with a black question mark looks like a stocks app. And I think that fits the image.
And the black square one I looked at the image and have no idea.

You must be blind if you can't see the iOS icons.

It can't be more obvious in that pic.

iTunes 10.7

The most current version of iTunes is 10.6.3.
10.6 was released all the way back in March. Due to the talk of Apple revamping iTunes, the lack of any considerable updates over the past few months, and the large catalog of new iOS/iPods being released this fall/winter Apple will release a new update to iTunes.

I would assume this update will be huge. Completely rethinking iTunes. Which, as much as Apple wants to deny, is still to some degree the focal point of iOS devices and Apple-content consumption.
Maybe fix some of the most irritating syncing issue?

Bring it Apple.

Wow, that's one eagle eye;), really impressed

Hope to see something entirely different from what everyone has rumoured up!:)

new iOS6 maps?

could that unknown icon have anything to do with the new iOS maps app? that seems to be the one of the new big features of iOS6 and its unlikely that if apple would put all their other main apps and not that one

The iTunes icon is upside down too, isn't it? Note the semi-circle light-to-dark effect in the middle of the icon - it's upside down. Either the poster-hangers got it wrong, or it's a nod to the headphone jack moving to the bottom of the phone.

I also think the far left icon is the phone itself.

Does a bear **** In the woods?

I thought bears were Catholic?

:D

Psh, this is evidence of a 3-story iPhone.

People wanted a bigger screen, and they're getting one.

Jebus, I almost spit my coffee out ... nice :D

It is not random. I assure you that professional designers spend a great deal of time iterating over the various aspects of their design.

Well thank you Captain Design! Actually, that was a nice, well thought out reply (that's a bit rare around these parts). Being a closet designer and having worked around designers and owned design shops, yeah, that's really spot on. :)

I do think the taller phone is a given, but I believe the stretched icons are a nod to LTE speed.

Yeah, neat.

I don't see it?

Edit: After looking again, yeah does look like it.

what it means isn't necessarily what folks think. Frankly I don't think they sought to give a clue other than its about something iOS related. I don't think anyone said 'how can we confirm the phone is taller without saying it. I know, let's stretch the icons way out.'
