And putting Apple on a product makes it better?
*rereads my post* Nope, never said that.

Plenty of people like a bigger screen. And isn't the Galaxy S3 the number one phone on major carriers aside from AT&T?

All I said was there's still a very big market for the 3.5-4" screens

Phablets like the Galaxy Note have sold over 10 million units. Wouldn't say that was a failure.
not really, but I think 2 years from now that number will drop and it will be determined a fad. Just my opinion.

I lover supermoled. Infinite blacks. That's the same tech that Sony and other giants are usin for the next generations of TVs

Glad you love them. Still doesn't make them a quality screen. I had high hopes for AMOLED, started following it from the early days. But they just aren't there yet. When they fix it and get better color reproduction, I'll jump back on the bandwagon.

Edit: perhaps the TV manufacturers will advance the tech and get it there before building their sets with it.

Ummm...what?

Some of us have rather large hands and would appreciate at least a 4" screen. If there's one complaint about my 4s vs my galaxy s.
I think because the bezel is much too thick on the iPhone.

I had an Evo and 4.5" is too big to carry around.

But I agree with oled kinks: http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/01/03/theres-just-one-problem-with-the-new-lg-oled-tv/

it's called an opinion. People here don't have to agree with everything just because apple say so. ;)
But it will be interesting to see the phone on Wednesday. It's been only speculation so we'll just have to wait and see :)

I know what opinions are. ;). If the iPhone comes out on Wednesday and some don't like it, go buy something else. No one is stopping you and quite honestly I don't think anyone else cares. :)

I'm not sold that one of the "unknown" icons is Passbook?

http://minidigita.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Passbook-Icon.png

Where's the black on the banner? The icon hasn't changed in any of the ios 6 betas? More likely the Pandora rumor that's cropped up, if it really is something new?

they could easily change the passbook icon, could very well be different come thursday, i dont think its the "Pandora" like service. given news of it only came up last week, and no deals are made. its not likely.
and really a Streaming service would be for ipads iphones and ipods, not just for a new iphone.

One thing's for sure, it's going to be interesting to see how they pitch this new phone on Wednesday. There's nothing revolutionary about it by virtue of how far ahead the competition have come in the same amount of time.

I'm really worried that beyond the colorfully refreshed ipods, the entire event is going to be a bit of a damp squib.

Let's hope I'm wrong.

Ho exactly have the competition come "far ahead"? Because their phones are bigger? Because they have LTE?

4g lte, widgets, super amoled, screens over 4", phablets, beats audio.....there's so many out there!
What's superior about AMOLED or beats audio? And aren't widgets more of a personal preference? The only thing I would agree is superior is LTE and it's pretty much guaranteed the new iPhone will have it.

I think it's the icon for Passbook

The stretched image only represents the top half of the icon. See the Game Center app.
I think its the blue and green from the Passbook App. There are no other candidates.

This is a crude attempt, but.... idunno. give me an idea.

Research boyyyyyeeeeee!

I conceded that long ago. Obviously there is a substantial market for larger screens. It appears perhaps Apple has chosen to compromise to get SOME of that market. But it's not my preference.

I think because the bezel is much too thick on the iPhone.

I think that may be true on the top and bottom. I think there may be some limiting technical factor on the sides, which is what matters for the width increase many are asking for.

..

Bloody ell !!... These people are smart asses

I wuldn't have never figured that out from the icons.

It must be the spinich that makes them smarter. :p

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I think the icon on the right is the App Store instead of Safari and the lower part of the icon with the "?" is safari.

I think this is evidence that each launch page will only have one row of icons, but that each row will be very tall. Icons that aren't updated will be stretched to 5x their ordinary height.

Edit: Better than MR's distorted picture, just look at the original picture from edge on (IE: open the image on an iOS device and put the charging port to your nose. Adjust the angle until you can perfectly make out the icon.)

If you're standing right against the facade of the building and look up, I imagine the icons will look right. Maybe that's all Apple was really going for when they made the banner.

Good thought but to achieve that the stretched icons would have to come to a point at the bottom and not actually come straight down... we used to make these types of things in art class back in elementary school lol... reminds me of this: http://www.impactlab.net/2006/03/09/amazing-3d-sidewalk-art-photos/

I can't wait till Wednesday. I really hope will release something amazing and new. We never taught of.

It's Safari upside down, notice the red from the needle

I saw and thought the same thing.

Good point (pun intended)

No wayyyyy really? A taller iPhone? Wow! And you figured that only by looking at the wall? Nothing else? Ok well then that cements it. The trusty ole promo on the wall finally solved the mystery on what the phone will look like. Congrats. You wasted 4 hours figuring out that omega code when the rest of us knew months ago. Let's give a round of applause for the genius who figured out what the iPhone 5 finally looks like!!!!! Lol idiot

How was your cereal this morning? Grumpy.

My take. Just a colorful banner. And the duper compressed similarity to icons is just ironic.

Just a banner guys. Just. A. Banner.

Every marketing image that Apple has created for its events has had some some obvious or non-obvious meaning. Not just a banner.

Pay attention

if you look at the panels, there are six. six panels with six rows going across them. if the rumors are correct, then that would speculate they are indeed hinting at a taller iPhone. Does everyone see what I'm talking about?
