I believe the problem is likely traced to the fact when developers were testing iOS 7.0 developer builds, they only had access to the iPhone 5 with its A6 system on a chip (SoC). Because the A7 SoC has a different CPU architecture, this may explain why apps that work fine in the iPhone 5 and 5C sometimes crashes on the iPhone 5S.

Hopefully, updates to iOS 7.x coming within the next month and apps re-written to work on the A7 SoC will correct the problem within the next 45 days. :)

"unforseen issues" = idiots submitting apps for 64-bit without even testing them on 64-bit hardware. Stupid stupid stupid. Not very unforseen. The source article is really stupid too. There was no need to build the app for 64-bit just because iOS 7 was coming out. Just don't check the box, and everything would've been fine. Get a 5s, test your app, then submit with the box checked. Apple told you to not check the box yet. But you did it anyway, you developer you. Stupid.

So does that mean you're also accusing Apple's own development team for being stupid. You know - since their apps are crashing too?

LOL only apple fans would find this acceptable. If this were android the roof would come off but since its Apple and the processor is super fast its ok if it crashes. If this were any other company theyd be hung.

I swear some of you would buy a turd from Apple at 200 bucks and be able to justify it.

... that being said its likely programming related cause if its hardware related I dont think its acceptable at all. Intel got fried over the defective pentium III 1.13ghz back in 2000 so its not unheard of. We know the QC at Apple has been terrible since around 2007. The year the ipod touch was released with iphone error messages, defective coating and the ipods they didnt even bother to test.

Is the Android equivalent "You can take the girl out of the trailer but you can't take the trash out of the girl"?

Again - irony is the mention of Android in a thread about Apps crashing on iOS.

I guess if you're unhappy with something you own it's easy to just make fun of something else instead of lamenting about your own problem?

Better waiting for iPhone6 and iOS8 will Forstall's comeback (exit Ive for iOS design and especially Cook from Apple management :D).

Only one crash so far

I've only noticed one app crash on my IOS 7.0.2 AT&T Gray 32GB 5s so far. And even that crash came back almost immediately. I use some pretty heavy-duty apps, like ForeFlight. No problems so far. Hope this continues.

the company is "doing a really good job of addressing these issues as they come up."....

Ummmm, Actually they are not. The fixes that have come out so far indicate nothing less than poor regression testing...which now seems to be Apple's default situation for OSX and IOS.

This is not excusable via the usual "oh it's an early adopter problem" either.

Maybe because this type of problem is so widespread for Android that it isn't worth reporting on them. That's the ONLY thing you'd ever see on sites like C|Net.

When more serious problems happen to Android phones, you never hear of them... like the Scamscum Galaxy SIII just totally dying for no reason. I never saw one article on any of the mainstream sites talking about that problem. How about the Blackberry Z10's screen completely dying? Again, never heard of that one until I read a review of the phone on a site when I guy had 5 replacements due to the issue.

What a news site covers has nothing to do with customer acceptance. The poster you were replying to said nothing of the media.

You got to admit they were lighting fast fixing the Maps app. It directs drivers into airport runways less frequently than it used to :D

App Crashing

I have been experiencing consistent crashing when using the remote app for Apple TV/iTunes. As a previous owner of an iPhone 5 this is definitely true as there were hardly any app crashes with my iphone 5 where as my 5s crashes with the remote app and also when using itunes match. Hopefully they will fix this soon - all in all minus the crashes I really like the changes they have made with ios 7. Knowing apple im sure these issues will be dealt with soon.

nonsense, there will always be bumps transitioning to 64 bit, Android will have these issues next year, Apple is way ahead on 64 Bit, sure there are some bumps but nothing that can be ironed out, ARMv8 will be fully implemented and run very well by the time Android comes out with 64 bit for its whole OS

i love the :apple: haters

iphone 5c

I just got the 5c on the jump program on TMo, I am happy as can be since I can upgrade every 6 months. No crashes when I needed the phone, thank goodness.

Way ahead? How can you assess that? And how can you, personally, predict how Android will or will not be a harder or easier transition.

I still don't see the point in bringing up Android in this thread as if it's relevant. But but but Android..

BSOD is real and unacceptable

Went into an Apple Store yesterday and was able to reproduce the BSOD issue within 2 minutes on an iPhone 5s. Just edited a Pages doc, closed it and boom - iPhone went blue and into reboot.

Two Apple Store employees claimed ignorance of the issue.

Unfortunately this is a dealbreaker for me. Will hold on to my 4S and not renew my contract until this is solved - I might hold out until iPhone 6. My 4S has always worked as an Apple device should, supremely reliable - having a BSOD and constant reboots is completely unacceptable.
