That's not the app that was demoed at WWDC. This app doesn't even support the gyroscope.

Wow. Sorry, I just glanced over this earlier. I knew it wasn't the one from the keynote but I thought it was an exact copy. I didn't even notice it didn't use the gyroscope until you said something. Sorry again.

The game Enigmo has been just updated to take advantage of the Retina display (works in the full native resolution of the iPhone 4). As has Enigmo 2.

Hehe. No problem. I'm sure someone WILL make a good replica soon, though. :)

I suspect as more developers see their apps on an iPhone 4, they will be updating the graphics pretty quickly. While they look ok, they're not horrible, they definitely look more "low-rent" compared to the amazing resolution of the ones optimized for iPhone 4.

I can't wait to see Chronometer in Retina-quality graphics. It's my favorite semi-worthless app. It's actually quite useful for figuring out time of sunset, sunrise, moonrise and moonset. And if you like classic and modern watches.

I totally agree. But, some of these icons look horribly pixelated on the iPhone 4 screen. They at least need to update their icons.

Trapster, Directv, ReaddleDocs...

All updated.

Not to pick nits but the Directv app was only updated to support OS4, not any of its features.
It used to crash in OS4.

I think the spirit of this thread are apps that make use of the new iPhone 4 features.

The Kindle app looks very good.

It says optimized for the retina.

Anyway, it's utility has increased considerably.

I gotta say, reading books on Kindle or iBooks is a 1000 times better on the retina display. It still feels like alien technology when I look at how crisp, clean, and black the lettering of my books (and everything else) appears. It's just insanely good.

I'm a bit disappointed in how long it's taking some of the major apps to re-compile and re-test given how long the SDK was available. Some I need to get off the pot ASAP are:

Wunderradio - I want ALL my audio to background properly
Weatherbug Pro - Crashes and can't load maps
Runkeeper - No audio updates during a run, only at the start and finish.

Come on guys, chop chop!

EDIT: Thanks Weatherbug!

ootunes

If you don't know about ootunes check it out. It can tune in almost any internet radio station. If there is one that you can't find just email the dev and it will probably be added quickly.

It can also get siriusxm streams if you have a siriusxm account with internet access.

I can listen to Howard anywhere and in the background now!

Not gonna lie, the 57x57 icons look a lot worse then I thought they would next to the high res icons that have been updated.

Wow the display looks amazing! The only thing is that it's hard to tell which apps have and haven't been updated at a glance, as they look the same still! Haha.

Just wondering, are devs able to take advantage of the multiple cameras? Would love to see a version of Skype with the ability to video call using the front camera (like Facetime). Obviously Skype would never do this as their iPhone development team is really lazy/crippled to please their other partners, but I'm just wondering if it can be done...

Devs need to update their apps, the new display makes the icons look so tacky.
There aren't even that many apps updated for iphone 4 yet :(

Just installed all my Pangea apps like Cro-mag rally and Enigmo since they optimized all their apps for the Retina Display.

You might want to get your vision checked. :p

I'm 36 and I can tell the difference between non-updated and updated icons at a glance.

Graphing Calculator is now iOS4 compliant w/ multitasking (and fixes a crash bug whenever you try to add x to an equation, which is kinda important)

It makes GREAT use of the Retina Display.

I laugh at my TI-89. It was a 160x100 screen. Without color.

EDIT: Actually, I may be wrong, since I still see pixels. The update description is confusing.
