It could be argued that there would be more of an incentive to develop new apps, to generate a fresh round of sales.

You're assuming that all or most of the people buying the IP4 are existing iPhone owners...cheaper and easier to try and upgrade an existing app and milk it for all it's worth.

Fring

Just spent 10 minutes using the Fring app over 3G, must say a GREAT app for free! Very little lag if any, not as good as Facetime but still an easy video chat without strings attached. FWIW

FedEx Mobile has been updated for 4.0, although the app icon still looks low-res. iXpenseIt has also updated for 4.0, and the app and it's icon look incredible on the new display.

Air Video Server!! just found the app and I love it. I can watch movies from my computer just about anywhere I go.

I love Air Video too but i'm waiting for retina support so that we can stream videos and play them at the iphone native res ... they should look alot sharper than ...

Pixelpipe

Pixelpipe allows you to upload your IP4 video to a host of websites to include Youtube and Facebook in HD. Native uploading does not allow this. Good app to have if you want to post your videos directly online from your phone.

YUP

I've never owned an iphone until now and I'm not paying for any apps that aren't updated for the retina display. I literally have 20 apps on my wish list that I won't touch until they get updated.

The only one i caved in for was angry birds ;)

I contacted the developers of Angry Birds on Twitter and they replied saying that they are gonna update it to support the retina display in one of the next updates :)

In the description it says the router must be UPnP or NAT-PMP supported.. the Airport Extreme Base Station isn't UPnP but is it NAT-PMP?

I think it only needs to be those options if you plan to stream videos while you're not within your network at home. If you aren't within your network at home you have to select the option to stream over the mobile network and it gives you like a 7 digit number to enter on your phone for manual setup. I had to do the same thing on mine! Works great and videos that are 720p and 1080p look great.

Well that's a big deal, considering I already have the Rivet app that allows you to access all music, movies and photos on you Wi-Fi network from your phone. But if an app could let me access them away from home.. now that'd be something worth paying for.

Well let me just tell you. I actually used it while I was at work the other day and it worked perfect. You can use the cellular network or WIFI in a different location. When you use the cellular network it converts it down to a lower quality but if its already HD it still looks amazing.

I should actually make a video of it being used.

A video would be great.
