Fortunately, it looks like I can install Leopard on my work machine. I ran FileMaker Pro on my home machine and was able to open and work with my work FM database just fine.

The only app so far giving me problems is Pac the Man X. Which is a shame.

Also, anyone else having problems printing? I got both of my printers set up, but I can't print to them. On my AiO, I can scan from it and calibrate it, but I can't actually print. Some with my laser printer--no printing.

Any definite info from those who have tried to use Menufela or Inquisitor; these are really important to me!

Also important to me: Psst, XSlimmer, Skitch, Mozy, Jing

Any info would be awesome :)

I actually tried that haxie yesterday, and whether it was that or something else I was screwing around with - I can't be 100% certain - the system crashed to the point of having to re-install the OS. To get 100% on this, I'd have to install the 'fela and try again - not willing at this point.

Damn! Did it work for a while though?

Also, Gerrit says on the sixtyforce page that he is getting his app ready for Leopard, has anyone tested it?

What about Appfresh? Connect360? Pref360Control?

Looks like I'll be waiting a couple of weeks for app updates until I install Leopard. Maybe 10.5.1 :(

Forgive the stupid question by an OS X newb, but why would an app stop working on Leopard? Are Apples OS's not backward compatible?

Usually it's things like drivers for third party hardware, or apps that don't use the standard system calls and access the hardware directly. Or things like haxies that mod the finder. Most apps don't have any issues.

Nobody is upset that some of their programs are not going to be running or not recommended? I find it interesting that most of the community here pounced on vista trashing it because of some software issues similar to this.

It might be almost better to stick with 10.4 until some of these things are worked out in 10.5 no?

People aren't upset because in most cases, fixes will arrive very quickly, and there aren't that many apps with problems. Vista has been out for months and still has some pretty big compatibility problems. 10.5 doesn't even officially ship for three hours.

Nope. And I've often tried just about everything from testy Terminal prompts to a zillion other things to crash my OS, but have always recovered.

The Fela crashed me good and proper, but like I said, I'd await another opinion.

So far, this is what I've noticed.

Quicksilver won't take the icon out of the dock.
Last.fm seems to want to hang a lot

As my Macbook's screen real estate is small already, I'm desperate for another answer from someone...were you using version 1 or the latest 'sketch' of menufela?

can someone please tell me what the point of developer seeds are when nothing works

Many apps work that wouldn't have without the dev seeds...they're also to get feedback on things like the complaints about menubar translucency...

my logitech control center driver software for my mx revolution doesn't seem to work. :(

Reinstalling works.

But I seem to have some strange problems with videolan. I was using videolan ever since and it worked great. But with leopard some movies that worked just fine with Tiger..

CoreDuo Temp - NOT working for me in Leopard (get a Script error)
Fan Control - NOT working for me in Leopard (erroneous readings)
Growl plugin for Mail - NOT working in Leopard (got a message when opening Mail for the first time that it was deactivated)

these were after an upgrade from Tiger

The point is that saying "nothing" works is complete BS. If you have an app that breaks, go ask the developer why they haven't released an update to Leopard.

Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.1 seems a bit more unstable than it did under Tiger... I might switch back to Firefox if it continues to hang (and even crash) on me... :)
