I dunno, like others have said, its quiet, too quiet. Apple usually does some sort of graphic for things like this. Something is going on...

Core Duo for $799. (Inspiron E1505, 1.66GHz, 1 GiB, GMA950 (upgrade to 128 MiB Radeon X1300 for $99), 15.4" widescreen, DVD burner, 802.11 b/g, 1 year warranty.)

For only $200 more one could get a 12" iBook!

______

Core Solo only $749
so what you're saying is dell makes cheaper computers?!? OMG, shocking news!!!!

yawn... if hardware specs get you hard, go dell. personally, other things like SOFTWARE matter to me.

(and yes, i bought a dell recently (to run autocad). the pre-installed software is absolute crap; not one piece of useful software. and the dell crashes ATFT (running DVDs) despite that fact that it's never been on a network and i've only installed two pieces of software--autocad & rhino.)

they better introduce/discount something.......even if that means they give you an apple pin when you walk into an apple store or something....

Id like it even better if they gave us 10 % off our bill in the apple store..

Could it be that maybe, just maybe, Apple has plans for some really ultra-cool release soon (video iPod, Tablet Mac, Intel TowerMacs) that they didn't want to announce on April fools day, thinking that people might not take them seriously? :p

i wonder if forrest kept his stock all these years?

Does anyone wonder what Forrest Gump is doing if he kept his stock after all these years?

I bet that fruit company he invested in, did well for him ;)

lol

Possibly... but I think for them to not even acknowledge the day is a bit irritating.

Might I also say that it's a bit concerning. For a company that's _outwardly_ doing as well as Apple... to completely ignore their 30th anniversary makes me wonder exactly what might be going on behind the scenes. And now I'm reading WAY too much into things... but did anyone also notice how "somber" Steve seemed during MWSF and the most recent media event? The energy from his past keynotes/media events was completely missing.

Things that make you go, "hmm"...

yea.... I do remember @ MWSF that he was sick that day, so that could explain it. Not sure about the 2/28 event tho

This is the most boring birthday party I have ever been at! Where are the goodies... MacBook, V iPod, other gadgets?

Shoot!
Yeah, like in grade school the birthday kid brought brownies or cupcakes or something ... why couldn't Apple give us 10% off total purchase coupons today, like they do at OS release parties? 30-years-old is a pretty big thing for a computer company.

OMG! NEW iBooks!

..coming soon. Just a little too quiet... something should happen in the following week to come. I wouldn't expect much to happen tonight or tommorow.

I lack in the graphics area, but here is what I came up with, using an old Apple ad.

I'm disappointed that the pirate ranks didn't come back. But Happy Holidays all the same!

I think Apple has a new policy of holding events only for small-to-medium stuff. Big news will now get released quietly.

If anyone wants my April Fools desktop, let me know. It's exactly like the standard Tiger Aqua Blue, but with one dead pixel Photoshopped in :) Amaze your friends! Especially if they just bought a new display.

Agreed, if there is not a new notebook released by Tuesday.. I'm buying me a Dual Core Viao
Im sure Steve will lose tons of sleep. Besides you will be the one with the crappy os.

lol

cut your nose to spite your face, much?

What a nightmare...

I dreamed Steve died and the staff could'nt decide yet whether to use the happy theme or the sad theme for the front page. I'm really starting to worry here...

Well the day officially passed with no announcement whatsoever. :( I'm hoping for Monday or Tuesday!

Edit: I am out of it... 8 minutes to go. :p

Maybe Apple is keeping a low profile while this whole Apple vs. Apple Corps. thing gets played out. It could be that they don't want to draw attention to their revenue streams while a settlement is negotiated.

It definitely seems like something has changed lately...

Maybe Apple Is Hungover

Where does 30 land in terms of age for a computer company--old age, middle age, prime of life?

I have never experienced it, but I imagine an important enough milestone like a 30th anniversary (or birthday for all intents and purposes) would be cause for quite a bit of binge drinking on a Friday night.

If that is the case, you can't blame them for sleeping it off this weekend.
