I bet they'll do something similar like they did w/ the Mac Minis. Raise the Low end model by $100 and the Highend $200

that makes me mad :( another one of their products i wont be able to afford.

Another thing i forgot to mention... when i was at the store it seemed like they had replaced half the store with the new imacs and macbook pros. i had to search around to find powerbooks and ibooks. even the powermacs were hard to find. maybe this means they are making some room for new products.

Wasn't the idea to get a sub 100 notebook comarable to Dell or HP Specs.
I'f I'm a college student looking to buy a laptop... I know to look at Specs but not necessarily software. If they have a yonah processor, 512 ram, DVD burner, and it costs 1200.. well, thats almost double what the competitors are asking.

If you really want cheap, check out an Acer Aspire.. that's as cheap as it gets. Aspire 3623NWXMi is a celeron m 370, 256mb ram, 40gb hd, dvd+/-rw. I have seen this for $650 CDN at my local store.

I agree with other posts that the next ibook will probably start at around ~$1000 (wouldn't be surprised to see a $100 bump to that either)

Can Jobs release a new iPod without a media event? If not it'll take a few months?

I hope they dont release anything to till the WWDC, so that some of you all can learn some patience and learn that Apple is a company and will do what is best for them and they are not controlled by you.

Oh my god, tell me those guys are kidding...
Can anybody confirm this? I'll eat my iPod if there actually was an event and MacRumors didn't cover it!

I think it's more than Apple, but I'm just sad. :(
We need new MacBooks now. The iBook G4 is so overdue for an update it's stupid.
I can't believe they'd hold a press event for the Mac Mini and the iPod Hi-fi and not for their 30th Anniversary. Not one word about their birthday. :(
If the MacBooks have their price raised, it's just going to be crap.
It will hurt them a lot imo. :(

sorry I thought I alluded to the fact it was a joke in my post.

here I'll be clearer. It's a joke.

the address states "screen door on a submarine"

I can only assume its a joke... to get us going.

After some research I found that the editor writes it was an early April fool's joke. A convincing one if you ask me. Kudos to him.

NOw here's something to make you smile again:

Apple should do an ad for the true 64 bit OSX when it comes out playing the Beatle's "When I'm sixty four". Now THAT would give the lawyers a reason to sue them. :p

Did you read any of the "announcements"?
... allowing AirPort to actually charge wireless devices in range. Steve demonstrated how an iPod in range could not only be synced wirelessly, but also charged.
...
A recent paper by the IEEE Wireless Power working group cautions about increased cancer risk, but Apple downplays the risk, claiming it produces no more radiation than astronauts absorb in a normal day.

or how about

Chizen noted that a single project engineer was able to get Photoshop CS2 running on the iPad in about 6 hours. He noted, however, that Adobe would not be shipping iPad-compatible applications until CS4 in 2009.

Amusing for sure, but not very believable, especially around April 1st.

I love NY!
I know this is off topic, but that was truly awesome. Was it entirely time-lapsed with hands removed and fruit only frames left?

ya know, after just re-watching the MacWorld KeyNote. It could be very possible that was their mention of the Anniversary....

I think they is still a chance of something happening at some point this month I don't think Jobs would of said "I don't know what we are going to do YET" if they didn't have something up there sleeves.

My 2 cents.

I agree... Steve wouldn't hint at that and not release something.
