It is some stupid $%^&* you have to do to Windows in order to make it freaking work.

I HATE PC's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry, you can't do such and such.

I'm sorry, no such file exists.

I'm sorry, you'll have to restart.

Not to get OT, but why do people put up with this crap?!

Give me a break, it’s no where near that bad.

Yeah, they should have sued thinksecret again! How dare Apple let Thinksecret post wrong information!

Maybe Apple was planning to really release Tiger today before TS spilled the news.
Maybe Apple decided it would add strength to their court cases that sites like TS and AI are not news sites at all and are rumor sites so they don't deserve any protection as journalists.
Hmmm... Part of their master plan?

oh dear :(

biggest april fool ever i guess!

I sure hope it wasn't out of spite - maybe they just decided to hold of for a bit, perhaps something wasn't quite ready - not necessarily tiger but one of the update machines they intend to launch with?

Could it be that Apple has decided that the time is not right, because too much attention is being diverted to the pope, and his ill health?

That's a valid question, but I expect that there is a huge amount of machinery that must be cranked up for these announcements, and that momentum would have made it happen anyway. It seems that today just wasn't the day. And who's to say there won't be a meteor falling in Times Square next Tuesday, taking over the news that day. Any day is likely to have some kind of big news, so Apple probably makes their plans and sticks to them (whether we can predict them or not).

Birthday

Even though the rumours might be wrong re:4/1 it's still kinda odd that apple's homepage hasn't mentioned anything about today being the birthday of apple.

8:00 Eastern Standard Time if i remember correctly wasn't panther announced like around that time last year?

Uhmm, that answers my question.
I just thought that perhaps about half the nation who are into technology are also Catholics, and that could have taken momentum away from the release. In other words, is it good marketing practice and pr?

maybe steve jobs and the website team have all been kidnapped, which explains why there's been no updates at all today... but the whole stories not going to the news because 1) Steve requested it, poor Pope, he uses Apple or 2) the first whiff of the papers involved and Bill Gates, d-i mean his captors start to 'license' out the OS to other companies

...this is a rumor site after all

The effect of temporary pimples (Goose Bumps/Chills) un-controllably sent to a Pirates arms/legs brought on by extreme excitement of Rum consumption & visions of Johnny Depp representing the Pirate community. :) :) :)

Thanks for clearing that up :p
Guess that means no more Rum and Pirates of the Caribbean for me :(
The sad thing is, I suppose it would effect my nights of Vodka and Finding Neverland as well...blast!

Haha I knew this was going to happen. :p

Why do u seem happy..it sucks. I reckon apple is just trying to find out who these sources are that keep reporting to TS. I am guessing(hoping) Monday/Tuesday. It is not like anything can be changed about it..it is GM. So we know it is done!!!

Hopes fading for new OS 10.4, maybe Apple decided to withhold the release in reverence of the Pope's condition

Why is the Pope a PC user? I can understand Satan(read:bill g.) being a fan of Windows with all the misery it causes the world.

Well the last I remember the Pope was the head of the Catholic church with over 1 billion Christian members worldwide- hardly an insignificant amount and by far a larger amount than Apple's market share.

ANY news released at the same time as and when ( and it's only a matter of time!) the supreme Pontiff dies is gonna be relegated from the front page.

Still would have been nice had Tiger been released today- but it is coming soon which is something Window's users can't say about Longhorn with any certainty!!!!

?

If Apple releases Tiger on Tuesday, typically how long will it be before they start offering Tiger pre-installed on their computers?

Unfortunately, yes. If I had to do such a release, I would wait.

I'm going to say: REALLY SOON, considering so many Apple computers are expected to be updated REALLY SOON (this month). :) If you look at the iMac, eMac, iBook, and PowerMac, all 4 systems are expected to get updated within a few months, with the 3 former systems (iMac, eMac, and iBook) expected this month (possibly next week).
