The very fact that this 11 page thread (and there are many threads on this topic) has remained at the top of the forum for so long suggests that this a real issue. It doesn't sound like everyone -- or perhaps even most people -- have been affected due to how they use their iPhone however.

I was on the fence about getting an iPhone 6 or 6+ but now I think I *may* skip this upgrade.

It is only because it is the same old same old people complaining about it, not just in this thread or other specific ones, but at every other opportunity spoil it. Just a few making a lot of boring noise.

As I said before I don't disbelieve them that they are experiencing that, however there can be so many factors involved which keeps on getting ignored. It works fine for the millions of other people who don't take to the forum and complain about it in every thread. It's getting rather tiresome and boring now.

Yawn. I never questioned speed, and staying within Safari whilst flicking between a few tabs will usually cause no reloading. The issue happens when you switch between Safari and say the Ebay or Amazon apps, where you have a search loaded up. If you then switch back to a Safari tab after using the app for a bit it will reload, as will the Ebay/Amazon app when you go back to it after spending a bit of time in Safari! Why pointing out an obvious and highly detrimental flaw is considered 'trolling' is beyond me, and if I'm 'delusional' for pointing out what is quite obviously a massive flaw then call me a medic because I must need some medication (or Apple KoolAid).

As I confirmed yesterday, I've done exactly that test and just can't replicate what you are experiencing. So let's assume we are both correctly expressing our experience, then only one conclusion can be drawn which is that it isn't an inherent problem.

What folks should learn from this story is, to invest in the proven iPhones, so they know what they are getting themselves into. We all know how the 5s and 5c work. They are great.

You took the fanboy thing out of context, it was after I had been called a troll for pointing out an obvious flaw in an Apple device - and one which I actually own. You seem to be reluctant to read what I'm actually saying here, in that the i5 reloads tabs and apps less than the 6+. Therefore the i5 *is* different, and yet you say that it handles things exactly the same. Sure the software tries to handle multitasking in the same manner on both devices, but because the 6+ is running a bigger & higher resolution screen and is scaling too, plus being 64bit, the 1GB of RAM (pitiful in itself) is stretched even further. You don't seem to grasp this or even deem it plausible. Heck, you don't even own the 6+ and yet claim to know more about its capabilities than someone who has used it day & night for over a month.

You'd be shocked to know that the iPad air has an higher resolution, same RAM and slightly slower hardware than your iPhone. So yes, I know what I'm saying.

I wasn't aware that millions of owners had come to this forum to give their viewpoint.
They are voting with their wallets. The iPhone are selling like hot cakes.

Exactly, they haven't ;)

I bought one too, so what does that say exactly? I voted with my wallet and am dissapointed.
The Air is apparently shocking for reloading tabs and apps, again cheated on RAM as the Air 2 has proven.

I've only had it one month and I'm not in the habit of flipping expensive phones on anything less than a 12 monthly basis.
It seems that anyone complaining about Apple products here isn't allowed to, and they should jump ship ASAP.

If you refuse to sell it and move on what do you want? Apple is not about to make you something special.

It is what it is and all the crying will not fix it!

Maybe the 6S or 7 will have 2gb of RAM but there is no telling for sure.

And you know how it works here. Complain about Apple products and you WILL hear from the Apple fans, you know that! You should have returned your device shortly after purchase, but you did not.

My Air isn't reloading apps nor tabs. I'm usually working with 3-4 tabs, Message, Mail and iTranslate working flawlessly.

Quite sure the 6S will have 2 Gb of RAM, and then whiners would start ranting about something else :D
In the meanwhile, Apple will sell some others millions.

This is where your argument falls down, because I have seen more people complain about iPad tab reloading than any other Apple mobile device.

I don't care about "people" on this forum. If you listen to this forum Apple was doomed 10 years ago.
I do care about my experience. The iPad Air is the best tablet ever owned (I'm buying the Air 2 in the next months for sure).

According to this forum every iPhone 6 bends by itself, screens are piss yellow, iPad vibrates like earthquake and you can't keep one in your hand without ruining its screen.....
In the real world they all are wonderful products.

They'll be moaning it doesn't have 32GB of RAM and no dual six core processors to support the built in 4K pico projector ;)

If reloading tabs (and even safari's lovely "this page could not be loaded" )is not considered "normal operation", the Apple Geniuses have been lying to me. I was told that my phone is working normally.

I am not here to argue that every single phone in the world is going to crash, burn, and lag. What I am saying is that I have replicated it on every phone I have used (the vast majority of which are display units). One "genius" even brought me to a display unit to show me how exactly the same their units behave, citing that it wasn't eligible for a replacement as a result. I am at a point where it simply isn't worth my time or effort to keep trying to prove there may be something wrong.

I have MLC flash if I am to believe the various apps that have been floating around here as "tests". I have been told, twice, that my unit isn't faulty. I have no idea what to say. I am happy to provide a video for those who think I am just blowing smoke. Maybe you can do the same of you loading half a dozen tabs, apps switching, and going right back into safari without issues?

Simply going by what Apple claims about my specific unit, things are completely normal. And that is what is disappointing.

But speaking of performance as far as speed goes you say "we literally have laptop like cores", you are living in your own world if you think the processing power of the iPhone 6 and 6+ will be everlasting. I'd place a large bet that the iPhone 6's performance will be heavily degraded by iOS 11 and 12 just like every single iOS device thats ever came before it. Actually just like ANY computer system that receives updates to its OS be it OS X, Windows, Android, etc etc.

I would argue that in recent history both windows and android have been improving in performance with updates

I'm going to get crucified, but IMO this affliction has been effecting Apple moreso lately.

Reloading tabs are definitely normal operation.
Saying that this behavior means your iPhone is crappy and unusable is plain false.
Quite different.

Well, windows sort of regressed with 8. So there really isn;t anywhere to go but up. :p

Bought An iPhone 6, dissapointing ...

Even if i'm not a heavy user if my phone but I can feel some stutter found in my old iPhone 4.
The Weather app with horrible stutter like an iPhone 4 on iOS 7 , try to scroll in maps app quickly or zoom in and out IN 2D,stutter.

I've exit safari for 3 minutes and guess what , the tab reloaded ..

Feels like i have the A5 instead of the A8 .....

And please don't tell me that my iPhone 6 is defective ....

I used to hate Windows8, and the idea of a touchscreen laptop was satan's own. However, I purchased a Windows 8.1 ultrabook yesterday, with a touchscreen, after playing on one in the store for an hour. Windows8 is a different beast with a touchscreen IMO. I'm a happy camper. Plenty of RAM too :)

So, here is where I am confused.

Unsure where anyone claimed the phone is crappy an unusable...
Meanwhile, people are claiming they never have reloading tabs or framreate hiccups...

The further confusing thing is people (I won't name names) literally telling me my phone must be a defect because they have flawless "buttery smooth" performance 100% of the time. Again, either they are lying, they have some sort of unicorn iPhone 6 plus, or the guys at Apple are lying. Those are really the only options I see.

The iPhone 5 reloads tabs and apps wayyyyy less than the iPhone 6+. Which phone is exhibiting 'normal operation', the new one or the one from over two years ago?

I don't think I could go windows 8.x and not be on a surface pro. Unfortunately my needs don't really fit a surface pro...

I full admit that, had these computers existed when I was still in school a few short years ago I would probably have been singing nothing but praise. School required us to buy a TERRIBLE touchscreen windows laptop which weighted about ten pounds and had a good 4 hours of battery life all while burning my thigh if I set it there too long.

I do like where microsoft is going, especially with their own brick and mortar stores. Regardless of the fact that it is a "rip-off" of Apple's sales policies, they have really good warranty and just general service (have dealt with them with some windows phones now). MS doesn't even have to specifically make the product. If they sell it, they will take care of you, similar to the Apple store. That is what the Windows brand needs IMO.

I am optimistic windows 10 will bring the best of 7 and 8 to the world. :)

I was late to Win8, my old laptop is a standard affair running Win7. I do love this version of 8.1 with the touchscreen though, one play with it and I was totally sold. It's a combination of the new and the old, with a tablet feel thrown in. I'll report back when the updates have slowed it down and robbed all my SSD space :)

It works fine for the millions of other people...

millions + 1.

I still don't understand what the RAM shortage complaining is about. I have never been affected by it.

As a developer, I think 1 GB of RAM is plenty of RAM for a mobile device if the OS (and apps) are well written. If not, all bets are off.

There is a lot of people here who have a hard-on for ram.
Mac slow? Upgrade ram!
IPhone lagging? RAM, RAM!

Recently someone suggested 48gb of RAM for MS Office and Webbrowsing.
He said the 16gb the OP already has are not enough ...
