Yes!

I was going to buy a 3g in May. Then researched and realized the 3gs was better. Then did a little more research and found out a new one was expected in june.

I patiently waited, checking these forums everyday and downloading 35 apps from iTunes before I had even bought the phone!

Coming from a dumbphone, you simply cannot begin to imagine the difference!

Things like Shazam, which now seems trivial, was mindblowing!
Now programs like AirMouse, AirVideo, TeamViewer, etc, are the new hotness.

Jailbreaking, while scary to the newb, turned out to be the best decision I've made in regards to the iPhone!

I moved to tampa from orlando, and noticed the signal is definitely worse here. As I type my phone sitting on the desk shows 1 bar...ooops...now 2 bars...running iOS4....now 3 bars....The signal seemed to be greatly affected by cloud cover.

Overall, the iPhone 4 is definitely the best phone in the world, not in terms of being able to make a call, but in the sheer usefulness the device possesses.

Best camera in a smart phone BY FAR. Clearest video in a smartphone. Best mobile web browsing abilities by FAR. Best mobile gaming abilities of any phone BY FAR. Best music player BY FAR. Clearest screen, BY FAR. Of course it has GPS capabilities, so my $300 garmin sits in a drawer.

I love the damn thing so much, 4 out of 4 of my family members have one ;)

That said, I am not sure if iPhone will be my next phone come 2012. If android gets a higher res screen and good apps by then, I may make the switch by virtue of being a tinkerer and not wanting to depend on jailbreaks for customization.

As well as the fact that Android stock navigation is better than my $50 Navigon app which can barely find the publix across the street unless I manually input the full address. Plus no voice control :(

Not sure what 'laggy etc' means, but if I were you I sure would have tried a replacement iPhone before completely bailing ship.

The only problem I've had with my i4 are dropped calls and, well, I had the same problem with my 3G. So the worst thing I can say about my i4 is that some parts of it are the same as my 3G.

Laggy means slow (lag behind).

iPhone 4 is my first iPhone. I was comfortable with iOS because I owned several iterations of the iPod touch. I was in the camp of waiting for the iPhone to come to Verizon (if that ever happens) as my previous phones were on Verizon and I always had good coverage.

I transferred through my job, and several people had 3GS's and I asked about their coverage and if they had any issues. No one did, so I jumped in.

I have been more than pleased with mine. I got the free bumper, so no attenuation issues. The screen is nipples. I read a lot of people having issues with battery, but I haven't noticed. I charge full every night and even using it for 5 or 6 hours (based on the usage counter) I have a hard time getting below 40%. Granted, I don't do a lot of video and don't stream since I have the 200MB data plan.

This will probably be my phone until iPhone 6 (which a friend of a friend of a friend who walks Steve Jobs' dog said will be in July of next year. :D )

the iPhone 4

is simply the best phone I've ever owned, period. And this is coming from a guy who used to be a Nokia/BlackBerry fan.

Even happier. Coming from a BlackBerry, it's a completely different thing to own. Actually, I hardly ever use it as a phone. I text, surf, play... amazing.

EDIT: YET ANOTHER RESURRECT FROM AP3604

I went from a 3GS to a 4. I still am as excited about my 4 today as the day I bought it. The screen alone was all it took for me. Why in the world would you pick a BlackBerry if you were going to switch though? If I didn't have an iPhone i'd go with Andriod, WP7 but BlackBerry would be absolutely my last choice. So boring!

I have owned every iPhone and six different Macs + other Apple stuff like AirPort Extreme's, Expresses & iPad2 over the last six years. The only device giving me persistent headaches was the MacBook Pro RevA, which I had to exchange for a new one for free. The iPhone4 is not perfect, like any device, but I couldn't be much happier with it. It's very fast and runs reliably.

The most disappointing aspect of the iPhone 4 is the keyboard. That's looking to change in iOS 5 thankfully, but currently, it misses keys and space bar presses far too frequently. The lack of any customization also hurts the typing experience; no custom auto-corrections, for example. As someone migrating from a Blackberry to an Android to an iPhone, the typing experience with the iP4 is the equivalent of hitting a brick wall.

And I've said this before, but I could have sworn the 3GS had better typing speed and response times than the iP4.

I didn't have an iPhone before the iP4, and I ***LOVE*** it. Way better than expected.

The screen really is the biggest upgrade for me with the iPhone 4. That said, as a phone it's definitely worse than the 3GS, 3G, 2G etc. The proximity sensor nonsense (which still affects me and the missus), as well as antennagate (which admittedly never affected me since I always use a case) are issues. Not exactly brilliant...

I'm sure Apple learned a lot of valuable lessons with the iPhone 4, so hopefully we don't have a repeat with the 4S/5/whatever it's called.

Generally speaking, I am very happy with mine. Like many others have said, I look forward to a correction of the antennae/reception issue, faster processing and a bit more customization.
But overall, I would have to say I am very pleased with the phone.

Meets or exceeds my expectations in terms of performance.

I was let down by the lack of a white iPhone, the antennagate and proximity issue. But my antenna isn't really an issue and I would use a case any way so that part is fine. The proximity sensor was a fix that should have been in 4.0.1 but that's my opinion. I also don't like the dual glass screens since the phone obviously doesn't have glass as strong as sapphire crystal.

From what I've read, the reception 'deathgrip' was all a lie. I've tested it on different iPhones in different countries/carriers and was not able to replicate the issue. None had a case.

What dual glass screens are you talking about? Do you mean films or layers?

Hardly a lie as I have easily observed signal drop when I hold it like that

Most stable and best all-around gadget I have ever owned. Only had a few odd occurrences of battery drain, sudden crashes, and Safari acting up. I corrected my short battery life by draining it all the way down and to never use it while it is charging. Battery life went from 1% drain after 3-4 min a few days ago and is back to the normal 5-6 min which gives me back 3-4 more hours on WiFi. Still on the virgin 4.0 software and animation is still as smooth as butter.

About 51 weeks ago, I was already thinking I could use this phone for 2-3 years as a bare minimum. Still the case as iPhone 4 is still as good as it gets after a year. Can still hold its own vs newer devices like the SGII. Only the PS Vita is a Day 1 gadget purchase for 2011 because $250 is cheap for a quad-core device. And a PSP Vita would be complimentary to my iPhone 4 as it caters to my core gaming needs that something any iPhone will never fulfill without the proper controls. But my next smartphone will likely go Android or maybe WP7. After 3 years with iOS, I do want to try something different.
