I don’t normally pay much attention to the last ten days usage. But was curious since I’m currently using the device more than I usually do. The only thing I gather from this attached screen is that relationship between battery usage and screen on time. Perhaps. ?

I would agree with that statement for the most part. Some activities take more than others so it's not always the case, but usually. I forgot how different light mode looked lol (I've been running dark mode for the last few iPhones). I'd be very happy with those numbers that you have.

Here's my 13PM and my extremely heavy usage (heh). My usage definitely varies a bit more with the usage / activity ratios.

What phone is that and how old? How on earth are you getting 9 hours for about 30%?

The battery health is dropping like crazy on my iPhone 12 Pro. It was like 100% 2 months ago but in 2 months it has dropped to 96% on my phone.

Never bothered to check with Coconut Battery and Imazing during the first year but 2 weeks ago i have checked for the first time and it was around 96% (phone showing 97%) on those 2 apps and now they show 93% (phone showing 96%)

I am on 179 charge cycles now.

Launch day iPhone 12 PM was at 100% for like 10 months, now in last 4 months has come down to 92%. Never had this big a drop in any other iPhone I owned in the past.

Seems like there is certain pattern to the battery health. When it begins dropping, it will drop hard.

Before using my 12 Pro i was using a X. After 1 year it was on 98%. I sold my X after 3 years and it was on 88%. If my 12 Pro continues to drop like this the 88% will be reached within at the end of this year.

So 88% will be reached in 2 years of owning the 12 Pro. I am even using my 12 Pro less than i did on my X because of covid and working at home.

Hopefully the battery health will stabilise a bit the coming few months.

Same here with my 12 mini. 100% for 10 months, now at 93%. I have a fast charger available almost at all times, plus I use the low power mode a lot now, so even though the battery life is obviously not ideal, I make do just fine ? Not planning on upgrading anytime soon.

Just wanted to say I haven't had an issue since I got rid of my iPhone 12 pro max. My 13 pro max still shows 100% since they were released and used heavily every day. The 12 series definitely has battery issues.

I have never fast charged my 12PM, used an old 5W brick and gets burst charging during my commutes, mostly had it between 20-80%, still the massive drop in capacity.
I didn’t intend to baby the battery by any means, my usage just turned out like that.
It came in with 107% capacity when new, so it has actually lost 15% in as many months. It has 250 cycles at most.

Fast charging by itself doesn’t have as much affect on the battery health as everyone thinks. What’s detrimental to the battery health is the heat generated by the fast charging till it reaches 50% which is exacerbated by a case that leaves no room for heat dissipation. Similar thing with wireless charging and MagSafe resolves the alignment issue that generates heat with wireless.

I’m planning on using only MagSafe and the 96W MacBook adapter with my 13Pro and keep you all posted with my observations over the next few months.

Very good point about the case and lack of heat dissipation. It’s often overlooked.

I got my iPhone 12 Pro battery replaced at the apple store at my expense on September 2nd 2021. Since then I've used the 5w charger about 95% of the time. Today my battery health shows 99%. Think it might be time to upgrade to an iPhone 13 pro.

I’m going to hold out for the 14 Pro Max and wait for the battery on my 12 Pro Max to hit 80% and get a battery exchange.

Interesting. My 12 Pro I got in December 2020 was 100% for the first about 13 months but then couple weeks ago dropped to 99% and today to 98% at 132 charge cycles. So suddenly sharp drop. First drop to 99% did not change iMazing readings much at all (was still hovering around nearly 100% in iMazing) but now when IOS health dropped to 98% iMazing has sharp drop to barely above 97% there. I already thought I happened to get undestructable battery this time but obviously something nasty happened in past couple of weeks. BTW, my 12 Pro has Sunwoda battery (battery serial starting with F8).

Last night (during sleep) I had the biggest drop in battery life I’ve ever experienced (almost 25 (!) per cent). I have background updates turned off and all that. I think that it might have something to do with iCloud synchronisation of my photos and videos, but I’m not sure as it doesn’t appear under the battery stats.

I have a 12 mini with 93% battery health. I’ve just done a hard reset and updated to iOS 15.3.1 hoping that it will help... ?‍♂️ Frankly I’ve had too many issues ever since updating to iOS 15.2 (wish I could go back).

And no, I’m not upgrading to the 13 mini, at least not yet. I want to see what the 14-series have to offer first. I’m also considering getting one of the bigger models (either the regular or the Pro, not Max), assuming the vulgar protrusion of the camera lenses will be gone, which I doubt… I care more about a clean design than having the absolute best camera module. I do however respect that others have different opinions on the matter of course. ✌️

Edit (additional info): I’ve had my 12 mini for 15 months now, and the battery health has been at 93% for a while now (expecting a drop soon). I only use wired fast charging with the official 20W Apple brick.

One more data point: my iPhone 12 Pro Max had the worst drop of any iPhone I ever owned. After 1 year the health was down to 82% and the charge would drop suddenly form 50% to 40% in 1 minute at some point, as if there was a "hole" in the battery. No matter how many times I tried to recalibrate it and do all the magic.

At that point I sold it and replaced it.

Mines still at 88 after Dec 2020 but it’s due for a 1-4% drop any day now. 6S Plus was at 94% when the 12 Pro Max replaced it and it’s at 94% still today. Same charger and charging habits.

Ended up trading in my 12 pro. The battery health dropped to 99% after just 4 months since I had my battery replaced at the apple store and me charging exclusively with 5w apple charger. Im hoping the same thing doesn't happen to my 13 pro.

This "process" seems to be going on, just this week mine dropped again 1% down to 97%. So just about in one month it has dropped from 100 > 97%. It is odd that it stayed over 1 year at 100% but then started to drop almost 1% per week!! Luckily so far nothing dramatic changes in battery run time but I have switched to dark mode couple weeks ago, so that might even up the real difference...

That’s the same for me, 14 months and 85% life battery, it sucks

Why are you thinking about going bigger? Display is not enough for you?

Well, I’ve always said it should have been in the 16:9 format i.e. a little shorter and a little wider. Also, if I don’t concentrate sufficiently, I miss-type a lot due to the screen being so narrow. Which can be very annoying in the long run.

After 15 months of daily use, I do find myself longing for a slightly bigger screen. Too bad I’ll have to go all the way up to 6.1”, though…

And I’d like a significantly bigger battery.

I did find my battery draining culprit, btw. It was the default Mail app that was doing strange things in the background for whatever reason. I never even use the app, I only use the Gmail app. Anyway, I deleted Mail, did a hard reset and a couple of reboots and the battery has gone back to normal for now at least.

What about you? Did you end up getting the 13 regular or the mini?

I understand your feelings. With mini I mainly type with one hand but that is impossible for me with bigger ones. Just over the weekend I do have a regular 13 but mini should arrive back during the next week. I already have a buyer for 13. But I found myself in a situation where I love something from both of them. I like typing on bigger one but I don't like use it. I like smaller one for using but sometimes using it for pdf previews or something similar is very strange. But battery wasn't an issue for me with 13 mini. It was really better then 12 mini. But who knows, maybe when pandemic will end, I will switch to another one when I will have to use my phone differently than these days. Who knows? ?
