How is deep charging better than not letting your battery down to 40-50%? Charging your phone from 50-100 only uses half a charge cycle vs letting it down to 20%. Also, the fact remains that I have been using the same charging habits for years and most recently on my 11 pro max before my 12 pro max and I was at 100% battery health at this same time last year.

You still only cycle 50% battery, except 70-20 (or 75-25, 80-30, etc) cycling is much easier on Li-ion batts than 100-50 cycling. High heat and high SoC (state of charge) are arguably the two greatest wear factors of consumer Li-ion batts, yet are most controllable - clicky. And there’s more here.

As to the diff. in 11 vs 12, there’s that ’Cheaper Batt’ rumor going around.

Batteries don’t like being full. Don’t charge past 80%.

Does anyone else notice severe overnight drain? My 12pm was on 70% when I went to bed 8 hours ago and upon waking is 60%, having been used for about 10 mins during the night. When new it would drain 1-2% overnight. It’s 8 months old - is this excessive?

Mine drains pretty badly over night. My iPhone 12 Pro is already at 90% battery health, so I can easily see my battery life drop quicker now.

The designers of the iPhone assume everyone leaves the phone plugged in over night. They aren't concerned with a 10% drop overnight when not plugged in. New iPhones do all sorts of mysterious things in the background when the screen is locked.

I have a November 2020 launch iPhone 12 Pro Max. I charge almost entirely with the Apple 20W adapter with MagSafe charger overnight, but sometimes will connect to the MagSafe charger during the afternoon while working. My Maximum Capacity is down to 93%.

As I posted in the other thread, my 12 PM has dropped from 97% to 92% and I’ve not even had it a year, you can really notice it too. My XS Max was still at 97% when I traded it in after two years

my battery health is the lowest i’ve seen ever. never had it this low in two years of owning an iPhone let alone a year since being on the IUP. i’m trading in this 12 Pro in a few weeks so i’m not worried over it.

To all those saying they’ll trade in the phone this year, that’s not the point. The point is Apple used crappy batteries on the 12 series for them to degrade this rapidly in under a year. If they see that nobody cares and they’re getting away with it, they’ll continue to use crappy batteries in the upcoming iPhones, as it makes sense and is profitable from a business standpoint.

Apple knows their batteries in the 12 series weren’t up to par from previous models. hence why they’ve upgraded the batteries in the 13. i’m choosing not to make a claim when i won’t have this phone this time next month. only option they’ll give me is to change my battery which is pointless now. my question is is it still the same manufactured battery but increased mAh? or a totally different manufactured brand with increased mAh?

Do they make up the stats? Yesterday almost 8 hours for 80%, today almost 3 hours for 60%. Literally makes no sense as I’ve used basically the same apps. The stats are quite literally nonsensical.

I started posting about this way back in late Feb. 99% was not THAT alarming, but odd. 98% a week later. Decline since has been rapid in this 12 Pro Max, daily battery drain has been terrible.

I'm at 83% now, 93 charge cycles. Worst battery I have ever had in an iPhone. And Apple Support, Genius Bar will not replace it, even when I want to pay for it! (I have Apple Care on this).

Both the 12s in our house are at 89%. My 7+ that was my daily driver for 4 years before being passed down to my son for the last year has 77%.

Honestly, my 7+ was a great phone and the biggest reason I upgraded was that I got tired of having to carry a backup battery with me everywhere.

Wonderful customer care  Lucky you have Apple Care. That resulted in them just saying NO. Without Apple Care they likely would have roughed you up and threw you out the back door into the alley.

IF I upgraded to 13PM - that's a big "if" right now - and saw the battery is made by Desay Corp. I'd return it. This is currently the maker of my junk 12 PM battery.

Of course that seems silly, and I think the batteries in general by multiple makers are below par for many - (yet some are above par and above 100% still) this Desay has left a bad taste in my mouth since Feb.

that’s unfortunate. and Apple won’t do anything about replacing the battery even with AC+ i have no other choice but to upgrade to start anew.

Can you tell me what app you use to know who manufactured the battery please ?

I went to the Apple store about 89% after 9 months. Guys is telling me Im keeping on the charger too much and too many cycles. Then I mention overheating issue (camera disabled led) and he says he can schedule a repair. Apple wants to replace everything but the screen and camera module, instead of just replacing the phone. No cost of course. How is that efficient? Tells me that they have replaced alot of 12s and 12pros if they came up with a repair that guts a phone instead of just replacing the entire unit.

If you have AppleCare you might as well break the screen and pay $29 for Express Replacement instead of $69 for a new battery. It’s not ethical but so is using crappy batteries in 12 series iPhones.
