I'm running a late 2009 Mac Mini. So, I will compare the specs between the iMac and the new Mini before deciding. There's nothing wrong with my 24" monitor, either. It will probably take me a few weeks to make up my mind.

I want to just like I did the iPhone 5 but with the problems that might arise for the first wave of units think im going to wait. It's going to be damn tempting though.

I have usually refrained from purchasing version 1.0 of any hardware, but I had good luck with the 1st-gen aluminum iMac from 2007 (which I'm planning to retire ASAP), so I am planning on doing it again with an order/pre-order when the new iMacs are released. :D

Regardless of cost, I will immediately make the purchase IF we see a GTX 680m and SSD configured on the top-of-the-line machine. 15" rMBP + iMac = Best combo in my opinion.

Nope.

Bought a Retina MacBook when it was announced and couldn't be happier. :)

But an updated Thunderbolt Display would be nice though. Running a Dell right now, model older.

The only thing holding me back is knowing that it'll be cheaper on Amazon.

The question is; when?

How long after the release on Apple.co.uk will it take for it to be available for sale (probably for about £100 less) on Amazon.co.uk?

I will plop money on a BTO 27" as soon as it's available with the best GPU possible and a decent sized SSD. RAM upgradeability is something I hadn't thought about - I usually assume it's possible and get RAM elsewhere, but these days Apple keeps you guessing as to whether that's even possible. I guess I'll check back here to see what folks know once they're announced.

i will go for 27"BTO model

Maxed CPU
Memory will stay standard (upgraded later outside of apple store)
HDD maxed (hoping for 3TB hdd)
SSD maxed (256GB was last time)
GPU maxed
Apple protection plan

budget 3000-4000eur

I'll probs get it that 1st weekend BTO with just SSD and can upgrade the RAM outside Apple too. I am looking forward to editing video on it surely that minimum specs are enough to Handle video and Adobe CS6? My first iMac

Are am right that there will be no DVD Drive? just that I know that the rMBP doesn't have a drive.

Also i have 4 external HDDs with Video on them and Windows stuff, Which i don't like to lose. Is the anyway to put the External HDDs in via USB and power from USB rather than a power socket? or is it worth buying a stack External HDD? I already have a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo.

Having sold one of my top end 27in BTO 2011 models in June and waited five months for a upgrade, I'm afraid to say I'm now not upgrading - why bother when Haswell is around the corner or wait a few months for refurbished 27in to appear on Apple site.

Indeed, my only interest now is what drop will happen on refurbished iMac's, as in the market for the low-end 2011 27in for my folks house.

I plan to buy the 27" locally, depending what deals I can get.

I will buy as soon as I confirm whether RAM is still upgradeable or not.

Please get of the track, Apple is not going to solder in the RAM on it's iMac's!

Do you mean inside the iMac??

3.5" HDDs only work on external power, no way around that unless you get more expensive 2.5" laptop HDDs.

I am eyeing a 21 '" i7 2011 model at this time. When the
2012 gets announced..its price will drop. Depends on the price drop and the difference in specs.

Once the 2012 is release there will be no BTO option for the i7 on the 21.5" on the Apple website. So unless you can find one in store or Apple puts some on there refurbished list you'll be out of luck, sorry.

Me too!

Exactly the same for me - see you in the Leidseplein!

So basically half the people waiting for the 2012 iMac are really waiting for the price drop of the 2011 models. :D

I'll be getting a 2012 27" maxed out except SSD after my exams so November 19th

I will buy within the first week or so: 27 inch, SSD and maxed graphics. The money is ready and have been stewing in my account for 6 months now!

I have already bought two external displays (Dell 2007fp) to have on each side, so I'm hoping for more than two thunderbolt ports.

I think I'll buy the new model within the first 48 hours after its release. I really need a new machine, but I have to run through all the specs of each model to make the most out of my money while not buying an overkill.

I will be ordering the first day most likely. Have iMacs had a history of problems with the initial batch?

I will be ordering and buying a 21.5 or whatever the updated equivalent to it is...It's not for me but for a buddy next door. My own upgrade date is 2013 (July if I stick to things) and my current iMac is still taking everything I throw it fine.

I will probably buy a Pro next year though.

God I wish I could.....I'll probably have to wait till income tax refund next year. I am a VERY patient person when it comes to waiting, and it usually turns out for the best for me (I get what I want at a great deal).

It will be perfect though, by late January, apple should have refurbished ones coming and going regularly so ill save money and get what I want.:D

I made the decision in early 2011 that every year I would sell of my old Mac to put down towards my new one. Well this year passed by I didn't do it only because my Mac was still blazing fast, I felt like I was just being too needy greedy, it does everything I want easily and fast. I'll wait till next year to do it.

I'm in the process of painting the room my computer goes in so I'll definitely wait until that is done. And if it really is a new design then I do want to wait a few months and see if anything becomes very problematic. So maybe a new Year's gift to myself. Of course, if they don't bring back 24", then I'll get a 27" and that might get delayed anyway. I've had my 2008 iMac for nearly 4.5 years so a little while longer is fine. Honestly, it's still humming quite well, even with iMovie on my HD camcorder.
