I am already seeing them on the refurbished area. True, they don t pop up often..but they DO pop up.(21" i7 Imac)

Having sold one of my top end 27in BTO 2011 models in June and waited five months for a upgrade, I'm afraid to say I'm now not upgrading - why bother when Haswell is around the corner or wait a few months for refurbished 27in to appear on Apple site.

Indeed, my only interest now is what drop will happen on refurbished iMac's, as in the market for the low-end 2011 27in for my folks house.

I'm sure you know that "right around the corner" means nothing with Apple in terms of Haswell. It's released in April or something, but the iMacs will be updated much later than that.

But yes, refurbs are a good thing to buy.

If Haswell iMacs are out before July, I'll fall out of my chair.

Depending on a few factors, I'll probably order one as soon as it's available.

I would prefer to wait for a while to see the feedback first, but since I've been waiting for months...I don't know if I can do that. ;)

I would like to buy Day 1, but if this is a redesign, I'll have to wait and see what problems you guys report. If I can't upgrade my RAM, then that's a deal breaker, especially if Apple wants an extra $200 just to go from 4GB to 8GB, or 8GB to 16GB. I would like 256 SSD to be standard too, but I'd settle for 128GB SSD.

Haswell Imacs are pointless... 10-15% clock for clock performance improvements, much improved integrated graphics (useless) and huge power savings (useless).

Haswell however, can't come soon enough for the Macbooks.

The next two years with Haswell and Broadwell are going to make current MacBook Air and Pro owners upgrade en masse.

I'll buy the 27" immediately — or the 21", if it will have a new higher resolution.

Depends solely on features offered and their pricing. I have the 27 with 1g 6970 video... so it all comes down too..

Will I see a significant upgrade in speed for a decent price. I won't upgrade for a higher resolution screen, I have no need. Now, if they can reach a 1999 price point with a 512 SSD and 797x or whatever is top then yeah, I'll bite.

Like others have said, it completely depends on what components are in the new one. If it still has user upgradable RAM, a desktop CPU, and something like the 680m GPU, I'll order a 27" asap.

I was but found a killer deal on one locally. I couldn't pass up a pretty much brand new 21.5 2.7 i5 for $900 with box. Sadly no apple care but I can live with that.

Only If I love the redesign & specs, otherwise my plan is to buy the 2011 model for cheaper..

Depends, really. I want SSD, and I'd prefer to order through Best Buy (for points). If there's a standard SSD on the top 27", I'll wait for BB to get stock and order through them. Otherwise I guess I'll BTO through Apple.com right away.

I'd like to do that too, but I checked with the Apple rep that works in a nearby BB, and he said that the stores cannot special order any BTO options. The Apple Store within a Store is only able to get stock models. I trust that he's telling me the truth, as I've known him for over a decade, and my wife and I attended college with his son (they had several classes together).

I will be BTO on the first day available, with a few conditions:
1. The graphics are on par with a real desktop computer (meaning no less than what is currently available in the iMac - minimum)
2. RAM is still user upgradable.
3. ODD is not cut in favor of making a thinner desktop.

If this holds true, then I'll be-
Maxing the CPU
Maxing the GPU+VRAM
Choosing the Trackpad over the Mouse (I have extra mice if I need them)
Ordering AppleCare and One-to-One (I want some lessons on Aperture so I can improve my amateur photography)

I'm primed and ready for a Day 1 order, just don't screw it up Apple!

If they're out before next September, I'll eat that chair! :)

What does BTO mean and will it be available to buy on Amazon and other cheaper places on the same date as it is on the Apple store site? If not how long after?

"BTO" is "Build to order", i.e. customize. It's only available on Apple.com and, that I've seen, MacMall. Everyone else will have only the standard configurations, but it should be available at/near the same time.

The only reason for me to upgrade to the new iMac would be HDMI input, but I doubt the iMac will ever see that. Other than that missing feature, I'm loving my 2011 iMac. Best computer I've ever had! :)

I was curious if the iMacs had a HDMI out like my Gateway tower machine guess that answers my question. It sucks, really wanted to hook it up to my 55" Samsung. So if they dont have that can we still hook it up to a TV what are our options? How is the quality?

As many others there's a few bits of information I need first, and after I have that info I need to consider some things. I need to know if the RAM is user-upgradeable, the prices for SSD or SSD/HDD, the price for the i7 processor if the i5 is standard, the GPU and the cost for the GPU upgrade if any. But if everything clicks and I get what I've been wishing for around the price I expect I'll order a 27" instantly!
