I know which model and watch band, but not the color. I either want the stainless steel watch with link bracelet or the space black stainless steel watch with space black link bracelet.

I wonder why they don't offer the 42mm SS with Black Modern buckle. That band only comes on the 38mm

that would be my ideal combo. i love leather straps with metal clasps. the leather loop is a little too ribbed; it looks a bit awkward to me. the Milanese looks all right, but it's a bit flashy for everyday wear. i don't know which one i'm going to go with.

Oddly enough, I'm getting a 38mm, and I wish I had a leather loop option. Go figure.

I noticed they do not sell the Space Black SS Link band separately. I wonder if I could just pay the $1100 for that watch and sell the band on eBay for $449 (the price of the silver one).

hmm...

Maybe this one ImageUploadedByTapatalk1426289203.177763.jpg

I'm completely positive. I'll be buying the second generation Apple Watch. You know... The one with far longer battery life, a full compliment of proven apps, improved buttons and case refinements.

In the meantime I'll sit back and watch the show. #

Did you also not buy the 1st iPad for the same reasons? I bought the first iPad and I'm glad I did and I upgraded later. The nice thing about Apple products is when a new version of a product comes out, the previous one still has a strong resale value that can be put toward the new version.

I will NOT buy a strap from Apple. There are going to be a some really really nice third party straps that are much cheaper available soon Im sure.

Its funny you just assume the next version will have far longer battery life when Apple hasn't even significantly increased if at all the battery life on its iPhone and iPads.

Point is...Apple just may find a way to increase the battery life, but don't count on it.

Almost sure . . . nice that you can add bands later. (ala Cartier Roadster).

I will go SS 42 for sure, and thinking of starting with black sport. Later get the ss bracelet. Or do the reverse.

I'm such a hard core Apple customer I've never missed a single new Laptop no matter if MacBook or MacBook Pro, yet I did indeed deliberately pass on the first iPad.

Conversely I have pre-ordered every single iPhone model to date. iPads have always been secondary to my particular preferences and use patterns.

Only an educated guess, but I'd bet the Watch resale will be soft. At least the first gen model will be.

I constantly stay current with the secondary market, overall the days of the strong resale values are coming to an end. Nothing lasts forever and now that Apple builds in the millions upon millions of units per model there's no exclusivity or any of the elements that maintained high resale just last year.

I don't count on anything, especially from Apple, I was simply giving an opinion.

Oddly enough, even as a long time Mac user entrenched in an Apple ecosystem, the Watch is the first thing I'm buying that is first generation. Even as a kid, my family had the decency to wait until the Apple IIe. LOL

IF I don't need to buy a new car, which is looking unlikely at this point, I would get either the 42mm Space Grey Sport or the 42mm Space Black Stainless Steel... The $700 difference is massive but possibly worth it.

New day, new decision...I think I will bite the bullet and pull the trigger on the original watch I wanted.

I'm getting two.

A 38mm silver sport with white band for my wife as a Mother's Day present.
A 42mm black sport with black band for me.

Come on guys! Get one for yourselves and one for your girlfriend/wife! That way, you can write little love emoticons to her using Digital Touch! :)

This watch will not replace my Omega Seamaster that I wear every day in the office, but it will be nice to wear out and about. That said, this is a Gen 1 product which will be improved upon shortly if Apple history is any guide. When Gen 2 comes around and I've worked the watch into my regular routine in a significant way, I'll shell out for a fancier model, perhaps a black SS model with link bracelet.

My girlfriend doesn't want one :(.
She works in a lab and can't wear a watch to work and therefore has no interest in watches. Maybe after she sees mine... :)

This is currently my dilemma too! In addition to considering Space Grey Sports plus buying a white sports band too.

Why not just trade for one? You get two bands with your sport, just trade the one that doesn't fit you; there's a sticky for that.

----------

I was rather torn between the (42mm) SS classic buckle and the SS milanese loop, because I like them both and then of course they had to be the same price. I intend to purchase both bands eventually but the question of which to get first was rather daunting. Ultimately, I've decided on the Milanese loop because I may end up showering with my watch or at the very least, wearing it in the bath with me (I read in the bath so my wrist/hands rarely get wet, save for a few splashes) and the leather option does not support that.

Problem is the purchase is chipping away at my Panerai fund!!!

My plan is to order the black SS and the black Sports w/black band as soon as we are able to. Then I will visit the Apple store later that day to see them in person. When I get them, I will return the one I do not want.

As it sits right now I'm 100% sure I am getting the stainless model. I'm 90% sure I'm getting it with the Milanese loop.
