i hate the fact that the host was anti-mac.

he's like "what's so cool about the mac? nearlly nobody uses them!" kind of attitude.

and he's one of those typical guys who wants features features and more features. he just dosen't get it.

i thought "gee-ing" means gold though in chinese

Let's clear this up. That host and the whole channel is waayyy pro-Apple. The products, the stock, the Steve, the whole ball of wax.

He asked a question in the context of Apple's previous nearly dominant market share. Remember the Apple II anyone?

Apple has a low market share now. It was a fair question.

The other guest choked hard and host Ratigan, tried to help him reset and recover by reasking the question. No-go. That rumorian/blogger sucks on TV.

Arn rocked. He was not "effusive", but was responsive, helpful, able to deal with the "format" of the show, and Ratigan's personality is part of that format.

Why was Arn not wearing a black turtleneck shirt? :)

Ratigan was probing for issues of interest to stockholders. Halo effect, market share, forthcoming products, etc. That is what they want and need to hear when Arn goes back.

Arn go back!

Out of curiosity, where physically were you for that interview? The local NBC TV station with satellite?

Rocketman

Go Arn!

Just watched the clip, and thought Arn did a great job. Way to go! (If I had to nitpick... I think Arn woulda sounded more polished if he'd spoken a bit more slowly/deliberately and not said "you know" quite so much.... but then again, I'm in a Toastmasters class at the moment and am probably just hypersensitive to these things in my own speech, so - grain of salt, etc. :D)

With that said - I don't "get" all the bashing of the host. The Looprumors guy dug his own hole by claiming that "everything Apple does is successful", and I thought the host's market share counterpunch was totally legit. The obvious riposte would have been to point out that Apple has all but edged Gateway as the #3 computer maker in the US, and the 'iPod halo' effect may barely be getting started... but I guess Mr. Looprumors was too rattled to go there.

Anyway, kudos to Arn - ya big TV star you!

yep... small studio in Richmond, VA (where I live) connected via satellite. I couldn't see anyone (host or other interviewee). I was staring at a camera and responding to audio alone.

Nice one Arn.....
Well spoken and articulate.

Other dude looked like such a tool. Guy called him out and he ssttt-st-st-stumbled. He just looked like another Apple Kool Aid swiller.

Thanks for saving him Arn. lol

wow, good stuff!

also you've just gotta be happy that you didn't get hammered like the other guy. but then you did have your responses worked out - so props.

When asked why the iphone would be different than the other phones out there he should have just started making things up.

• Built in GPS tracking so you know exactly where the person you talk to is.
• Your movements will be tracked and sent to your account in case you are kidnapped.
• It will give directions like a car navigational system.
• Live video conferencing.
• Take a photo, the software will make a pdf with directions that you can email to the person on the other line, through the phone, to get to the same place where the photo was taken.
• Video conference with owners of iTV through their TV set.

With a product that hasn't come out yet the possibilities of what it can do are endless.

Well, of *course* it has all those features. What, you mean everyone doesn't already know that?

However, you also missed a few.

• Access to iTunes Radio, letting you listen to any radio station in the world from anywhere in the world;

• Comes with the new Google Earth/iPhone application, letting you view any geographical location in the world. It also links to the built-in GPS system so you can get an overhead view of wherever you are, aiding in navigation.

• Comes with the new Keynote/iPhone and Microsoft's new PowerPoint for iPhone, allowing you to sync both presentation app-created presentations, either for transfer to another computer or for presentation via a cable adapter which lets you charge the iPhone at the same time as show presentations on regular and hi-def projectors.

• Comes with a cable assortment that gives you video output anywhere in the world, making it the world's most connectible micro-video and micro-multimedia device. Supported standards are: Analog - VGA and Component (up to 1280x1024), and S-Video and Composite (up to 1024x768), with S-Vid/Composite support in NTSC, PAL and SECAM; Digital - HDMI 2.2/2.1; DVI-D/I; also supports Raw DV and H.264 output to compatible devices.

• Multichannel Bluetooth 2.0, allowing up to four digital stereo headphones, data connection to a Windows or Mac computer; and a standard analog headset for hands-free conversation, all simultaneously.

• Connects to Macs / WinXPSP2 / GNU/Linux boxes via either FireWire 400 or USB 2.0.

So, as you can see, you missed a few things. But that's alright, we still like you anyhow.

Arn Bless You.

Oh, sorry. I forgot to mention there's a F/OSS development going on for a downloadable app which will allow you to connect up to six iPhones together via either a FireWire or USB hub to link high-def video playback across the screens, giving you a much larger combined screen area. I think you can find the project up on SourceForge under "iPhone Video Superscreen".

:)

Not to mention the built in Sega Master System emulator (internally known as iSMS) to play such amazing 8-bit titles as Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, Phantasy Star, and Psycho Fox.

That interviewers a tw@t.

He's so rude! As soon as the other guy answers any questions, he butts in straight away.

Big ol' Mac basher!

Wow.. the fanboy nature of this forum has never been clearer to me. The interviewer was looking for an answer to a reasonable question "What is apple going to do that will make this phone better than the rest?" and the first guy's answer was laughable.

It has nothing to do with being a so-called "fanboy".

The question WAS reasonable. What was UNREASONABLE was the interviewer wouldn't let joe schmo answer the question, lame answer or not.
I thought I was watching Fox News for a second there.

Is it true that you still beat your wife?
no, i..
IS IT TRUE?
I sai..
SO YOU'RE SAYING IT'S TRUE?
NO, pleas..
WIFEBEATER!

Anybody who wants to jump on this guy for his technique should watch a couple of broadcasts before making their judgement. As I said, this is not Fox news, and the show is really good. And as far as I can tell, not biased.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fanboy nature, just human nature. Unless you spend time watching the political pundits, the interviewer came off as a jerk. Most people are use to watching interviews where everyone is civil and the interviewer usually kisses up to the guests. This type of interview is obviously quite different.

The guy from looprumors was a terrible guest, he was rude and unprepared. I would have preferred to see the host just cut him off and go to Arn to try and get the question answered instead of calling him on it and letting the guest struggle.

wow arn handled it quite well i did feel sorry for that other guy he faced a question from a crassly ignorant person and i believe there are around 20 million mac users world wide i hardly call that not selling any, people like the anchor man really irritate me, reminds me of a stereotypical PC user

Man did Bob look like an idiot. Arn, you did great though.

When Bob was talking I was thinking... SAY IT's THE INTERFACE MAN, OH COME ON, then when Arn started talking he said what I wanted Bob to say. Thank God. Oh and Bob should not have worn that shirt. Oh boy he looked bad. Arn looked good. Suit = Good Choice.
