Took me a while to watch the whole interview, I guess there's a bunch of folks on here soaking up all of the bandwidth!

Arn - finally a 'face' (suit n' tie!) to a name - well done, carried yourself very well through, what I'd say was a very differcult interview. Much stronger than the '...err... you know' other bloke.

Got to say, I dislike the way Apple's always seen as only 5% of the PC market company, as if there's someone out there with a whole 95% - it's shared amongst a few manufacturers, something which never seems to have enough time to point out.

Mobile/cell operators generally sell phones to make money through air-time, be-it voice calls, picture messaging, text messaging, email etc... they've never had the need to focus on integration with a computer as most of the services they provide are meant to be phone-to-phone, to make them more revenue from air-time. Hence why Verizon and others disable Bluetooth or USB connectivity for photo's, need your photo's, sure email them.. use up your air-time.

clearly the interviewer owns a Zune

LOLOLOL!! attachment.php.gif Yeah, I thought his face was a little red.

I finally got it working. Good job Arn. The interveiwer wasn't great, but he was better than I was expecting after reading all of the previous posts.

Absolutely great job, Arn! Cool, calm, succinct and credible. And you answered the loaded innovation question which put Bob off and on the defensive by clearly stating the interface advantages and thereby defusing a tense situation. I think you won the day. Kudos. 1A.

The link does not work for me! All it does is load the page and then Firefox says it's done. No video loads at all!

And why are so many people obsessed with this poor guy's name? :( Bold print, CAPS, etc.

I liked that the interviewer put Bob in his place.

Investors want to know... what will iPhone bring to the table that isn't already available?

Bob tried down the old RDF route by mentioning elegance, Apple having wild success with their products, and innovation. I'm thankful the fanboy comments ended there.

Arn did a great job.

Wow, what a sad "interview" that was. What the **** is wrong with our "newscasters" in America. All they do is try to rile up people for ratings... yes, thats why I threw away my TV.
Wow.

Edit: Yea, Arn, handled that well.

I just watched it. Overall it was a nice interview and you did a great job, Arn! I think the other guy did great as well. It was the reporter who just plain annoying. He sounded like the typical Windows user with the market share argument and wouldn't let Bob (his name, correct?) speak.

Congrats, Arn, you came across as the only person in the "Insider" portion with any intelligence and class, the host came across as extremely rude and the LoopRumors guy seemed like he didn't know what he wa talking about.

I agree with the point that the iPhone has to be more than a phone that plays music and videos. The cell phone market is already too crowded as it is, and the combination of a phone with an MP3 player is not compelling enough. Apple wouldn't have needed 5 years to create a shiny white equivalent of the Chocolate. As some have suggested, 2-way video conferencing (since there is a rumored camera) could make this a killer device. Or, even better, if a PDA could also be integrated, this could be the holy grail of all hand-held devices, incorporating every portable electronic device you need or want into one (unlikely to happen, though, because taking on RIM could be a suicidal move).

What's unusual about the iPhone is that Apple's top executives are actually promoting speculation about the device, in stark contrast to their usual secrecy/evasiveness regarding unreleased products. IMO, they must be feeling that this will be Apple's biggest success in recent memory. I have the feeling that we will soon see what Apple envisioned the device to be when the company christened the music player "iPod" instead of some name related to its primary function (music) when it was introduced.

be very careful....

Arn, you better watch out... now STEVE knows what you look like...

I always assumed with a name like "Arn" that Arn was Dutch.

Great job!

I thought the interviewer was a bit aggressive, but poor ol' Bob didn't have anything. "oooH! two finger touch screen." He should have just said that Apple has the fourth highest market share in the US in response to the 95% crap.

Yeah it crashed mine three times.

Well what do you expect from a Microsoft payed anchor... 5% market share doesn't tell how innovative a company is. What an ass.

Edit: Awesome job BTW arn!

Also that anchor dude was raving how if the iPhone grabbed a few percent of the market that it would be a success, yet Apple's computer market share is 5% and according to him unsuccessful.

Arn was definitely the only composed one, the other two would have punched on if they were in the same studio

Yeah, he was a jerk to bob. Arn did an excellent job!

He's typical of the Apple antagonists out there. I guess he believes that McDonalds must serve better food than more expensive restaurants because they have 95% of the food business. *sigh*

You can't reason with people who are impressed with numbers. Apple has 5% of the computer business. GM has about 10% of the world's car market. Numbers shmumbers. Could Apple's market share be higher? Yup. I actually think it is. But we can either have a company that carefully innovates and makes great stuff or we can have a company that makes a knockoff MP3 player that doesn't even work with their latest OS. I'll take the former -- even with 5% market share.

P.S. Doesn't Apple have like 85% of the MP3 player market? Didn't they build that from scratch? Doesn't that mean *anything*?

Great work arn!

You sounded very knowledgable, poised, and didn't step beyond what you knew (unlike Bob). Have you gone through some media or public relations training in the past? If not, I think now is a good time I think you will get a lot more media exposure in the near future.

Guys, the host can't be blamed for being skeptical of an unreleased product – he is after all a journalist. Just because he questioned the success of the Mac doesn't mean he's a Microsoft zealot, he's simply trying to get to the bottom of the buzz.

So funny...

I know Arn is real, but yea, i never assumed to ever see him def the god of the site.
A
I always thought Arn was a lot like God in that he didn't have to prove he existed and we just had to believe....

I am now awaiting the end of the world...

See, y'all on the other side...

What I don't understand is how 5% can be considered bad in the computer market. What's Dell's market share? 19% at best? Toshiba has what, 4%? For a finance- and business-oriented program, it seems odd to talk about Apple computers as a failure when it's one of the most successful hardware brands from one of the most successful tech companies in the world.

Irrespective of any quality assessments or loyalty to the brand, it's obvious that Apple does quite well for itself. It's not as though the other 95% is dominated by any one other player. Obviously the reference was to Windows' superior market share, but let's stick to comparing apples and Apples, you know?

Well done Arn, you did great. Too bad the show host isn't too bright or polite. Really should be put out of job. Thank god I don't need to watch any more of him.

The CNBC Guy Who Did The Interview Is An Ass

That CNBC interviewer couldn't have been more rude and stupid toward both "guests". He treated them like they were both kind of dumb.

He couldn't stop bragging about how Apple only had a 5% computer market share and that the iPod saved the company. What a crock.

chiming in...

congrats Arn! great job representing...

I agree with everyone else about the host.

Apple not a success? news to me. show me how many other companies operate completely in the black with 9-10 billion in the bank.
