Thanks and that's too bad. :(

Yeah, it's not really a replacement, at least not to me. Also 'Hey Siri' can only be used while plugged in.
It's more that the raise to listen to voice messages has taken over that type of functionality.

Did a search for this topic, nothing came up, so forgive me if it's been answered elsewhere on the forum.

How can I get iBooks to update books? When I open the app, there's a badge over the "purchased" tab. When I tap it, no updates are shown. It just says "You do not have any purchased books." It acts like there is an update with the number 3 overlapping the purchased tab.

Additionally, is anyone else missing iBooks settings in notification center? I cannot find it there. I seem to remember prior to iOS 8 we could configure iBooks' notification options within settings.

Thank you!

IOS 8.1.2 Badge icon missing for Messages app on Iphone 5S

I've never posted before so I'm not sure if I am getting this right but I think my badge for my messages icon on my iphone is messed up. When I am using my phone in a different app (facebook, for instance) and I get an incoming text message my phone will show me a banner (like I want it to) but when I exit facebook or whatever other app I am in and go back to the home screen, there is no badge at the top of my icon to tell me that I didn't see a text message.

I have ADD, and I cannot begin to tell you how disastrous this is for me. Despite the fact that I have just seen the banner, 30 seconds later I may have completely forgotten that I ever saw that banner which is why I have come to rely on checking my badges to say "hey idiot, you forgot to read that text message you ignored 30 seconds ago."

I verified that my notifications for the messages app are set to "badges, sounds, and banners" which is the way I want it, and I have turned the phone all the way off and back on again (didn't fix it) and also closed the messages app by swiping up the page to close it in the task switching mode. I have been looking online and haven't run across a solution that is specific for this phone and IOS version and I don't know where to begin.

Halp! Your benevolence and patient explanations are appreciated in advance. :)

I don't think that's the case because this is new behavior for the phone (it didn't do this in iOS 7). The phone used to be able to tell that seeing the banner (which is just the bar that slides down from the top, not the same as the more intrusive alert which is the big box that appears in the middle of the screen) did not mean the same thing as reading the text messafe itself.

Still looking for an actual solution if anyone has any ideas. :)

Iphoto Captions

Am okay with MacbookPro at home, now travelling with MacBook Air and can't figure out how to put captions on photos in album.

where are my video files? (just went from android to an iphone)

I transferred some .mp4 files to my phone using bittorrent sync, and my question is how do I watch them? I can open the bittorrent sync app and view all the videos, but I would rather just go to that library, or open up a video player and have them all in a list? When I open "Videos" from the home screen I don't see anything.... Your help would be very much appreciated, thanks!

The BitTorrent sync app cannot put stuff into the Music or Videos app. You'll have to use the BitTorrent Sync app, unless when you try the file in that app, it has an "open with.." Menu.

Last night my roommate ask me why she was getting read receipts on her iPhone from texts sent to her mom's droid. Is that possible?

How did those read receipts look like on the iPhone? Were they definitely related to green SMS messages (and not blue iMessages)?
